Tales of Symphonia

DM, don't say "Star Ocean is better than this, that's why". Cuz that's just annoying.

Iselia Forest is easiest to get grade due to the fact that you can get 1.5 (3.0 with boost) grade TOPS for any regular battle in which your level is higher than an enemy's level. So going into the battles at iselia forest, you can jsut OHKO all the guys anyway, so you'll get the full grade of 1.5.

Nick, you can use Zelos for the time when Kratos isn't there, since they're fundamentally the same (sole exception is that Kratos as less titles and has judgement as a move...which Zelos can only dream of getting).

Regal kicked butt with me...okay I used the infinite combo. But still. lol

Kairi, the EX combos (I've included the others too...well the interesting stuff anyway):
Presea: Glory (avoids stagger most of the time, meaning you can execute moves without fear of having the attack stopped): Guard Plus + Endure + Revive + Vitality (1 lvl 2, 2 lvl 3, 1 lvl 4)

Lloyd: None all that interesting, but there's Counter (no delay when you attack after a block) and counter combo (both included): Guard plus + Follow Up + Ability Plus (2 lvl 4, 1 lvl 3)
Sky Attack (can use some techs in the air): Sky combo + Ability Plus (good addition if you want the counter combo) (2 lvl 4)

Zelos/Kratos: Super Blast (you can now use a 6 hit combo AND use an ability!): Slasher + Super Chain + Eternal (3 lvl 3s)

Colette: Exp Plus All (everyone gains more exp per battle): Taunt + Personal + Eternal + Angel Song (1 of each gem)
item Finder (eaiser to get itms after battles): Tough + Sharp-eyed (2 lvl 1)
Battle Cry (stats increase at beginning of battle): Personal + Stat Boost + sky combo (1 lvl 2, 2 lvl 4)
Iten getter (guarantees item stolen): Lucky + Sharp-eyed + stat Boost + Magical (1 lvl 1, 1 lvl 2, 1 lvl 3, 1 lvl 4...great for switching back and forth with Exp Plus All)

Raine: Concentrate (spells cannot be interrupted): Happiness + Item Pro + Spell Save + speed Cast (3 lvl 4, 1 lvl 3)

Genis: Concentrate: Rhythm, Speed Cast, Spell Charge + Spell Save (3 lvl 4, 1 lvl 3)

Sheena: Hard Hit (increases stagger on opponent): Prolong + Dash
Combo Force (increases damage on combos): Add Combo + Dash

Regal: Glory (Counter + Counter Combo absolutely FREE!): Vitality + Guard Plus + Guilt + Flash (2 lvl 4, 1 lvl 3, 1 lvl 2)

Everyone: Exp Plus (gains more exp for that one character, does not work if exp plus all is active): Taunt + personal + Eternal (1 of each other than lvl 4)
Life Up (sometimes you get a permanent HP boost): Vitality + Eternal (1 lvl 2, 1 lvl 3)
Spirit Up (same, but for TP): Spirit + Eternal (either 2 lvl 3 or 1 lvl 2 and 1 lvl 3)

If you're having trouble, equip "tough" and "sharp-eyed" on Collette. This give you "Itemfinder", which increases your chances to get the quills. It's useful by the time you get to Torrent Forest, since you can get mass red savories and red sages from those plant monsters.

btw Zapchu, does the Demon's Seal count? Since that DOES make the 20x exp that you wanted. :)

i beet the mine and now i am at the temple of ice!but i cant find those quiles!
really? it didnt even take me 5 minutes to get the quills. I kept go after the penguists right in front of the entrance to the temple, I got 2 quills everytime.
Anyways, I got the soundtrack today, and I haven't stopped listening to it.

I want this game... ;.; Is Symphonia one of those long games?

The OST is really cool! It's missing the Katz Island theme though.

I guess Demon Seal would work but you don't get it until later in the game, but don't one of those things give the character Curse AND Poison the character? I forgot, there was also this Seal thing that gave the character 1/2 more EXP and gave the character status effects.

Fweee...I just finished the Temple of Darkness. I've noticed that the character that trusts you the most will speak with Lloyd before he enters that little hole thing to get to the Sorcerer's Ring machine thingy. o_O; Also, at the Remote Island Human Ranch, the character that trusts Lloyd the most will help him knock over the Desians when they are trying to cause a disturbance. Also at Meltokio Colosseum, same thing happens. I guess those are ways to find out who trusts Lloyd the most when you are in Tethe'alla. >_>; I kept on thinking Colette was the default until today someone else appeared in those scenes...

It's cuz it's so easy to get Colette as the one you have the best relationships with. btw, the character who is at the bottom in the remote island ranch (the one that gets "discovered") has the lowest relationship with you, apparently. And yeah the demon seal and the dark seal both cause status alignments *cough*Krona symbol or the Yakase (sp???) jewel from the sword dancer*cough*

And for the Meltokio coliseum...Can't beat it with Raine or Genis because their levels are too low? Want a way to win 90% of the time when they're level 70? You've come to the right place. :P

See, these 2 Compound Ex skills are all you need!

Genis: Randomizer: Rhythm + Tough (1 lvl 3, 1 lvl 1)
Raine: Quick Spell:Neutralizer + Happiness + Spell Save (1 lvl 2, 2 lvl 4)

So why that? First, set your "B" tech to the desired spell (remember that you can switch techs in the middle of battle). Then play a game of "spell cancel". What? Spell cancel is when you push b to cast a spell and then immediately push the defend button (usually "X") to cancel it. Basically, if you push BXBXBXBXBXBX continuously, you'll be cancelling your spells. Why do that?

Randomizer has about a 1 in 12 chance of casting instantly (meaning you won't even have a CHANCE to spell cancel). Same with Quick spell. If you just continously spell cancel, you'll eventually hit an instant spell! Besides, you'll also be able to easily block their moves while you're trying in between attacks.

For Raine, this means you're stuck with using Photon or Ray...but you can use revitalize to get right back into the game.
For Genis, you'll be relying on turquoise (MVP of coliseum battles, can be gotten after defeating Maxwell) in battle and miso stew between battles to heal. But you'll be using either prism sword (practically a OHKO) if you're a strike type, or a variety of level 3 spells with the technical type (or prism sword with indignation backup...if you're the type to customize Genis to his maximum performance).

So yeah, it shouldn't be too hard with Raine and Genis with this set up.

With Regal, Glory wins it all. Basically you attack until you have like 2000HP left, then cast Chi Healer OR Grand Healer. With Glory, you are unlikely to be interrupted...so you can heal and go right back into the offensive. It's the easiest way to beat the dragon at the end of advanced class.

Against Seles, I recommend Sheena. Basically you run right behind Seles (with hard hit and Combo Force equipped...and Serpent Seal Pinion learned) and start attacking her, ending with SSPs. She shouldn't be able to even turn around once (meaning you'll beat her by a cheap and efficient way), since Sheena can attack just as Seles recovers from stagger.

Zelos is also okay, but his timing for an infinite combo is harder. (try slasher combo I've had back a page followed with a level 2 spell cancel...like grave for example)

Just wanted to thank Kenny *hugs him* X3 Thanks for taking the time to type it all out. *goes off to play*

*blush* Hey no problem, Kairi. :P

And protoman, you need the devil arm locations? Meh I'll type them out anyway. Be sure to get them in THIS order, since I've tried with other orders and those didn't seem to work:

1. Toize Valley Mine (the remains of the thing you crushed)
2. Flanoir (near the inn)
3. Gaoracchia Forest (near the Sword Dancer, close to the exit to Mizuho/Ozette)
4. Earth Temple (at the end of the secret passage, where the dragon is. gotta get all the gnomettes first, tho)
5. Altamira (rest at the inn and say you'll stay for the night. If you can't, that means you'll still need to continue with the game first. Head to the bridge between the theatre and the casino. Talk to the guy to buy it for 1000gald)
6. North of Tiret (you have to talk to the villagers that talk about the weapon first. There are 2 people that you have to talk to in order for the skit point to battle for the devil's arm to appear)
7. Latheon Gorge (out in the open in the second area)
8. Welgaia (apartment complex, ground floor, the left door)
9. Hakonesia Peak (after you talk to Abyssion when you have 8 devil's arms)

And now you may slaughter Abyssion.

And now for the best titles for each character (IMO). Stats are placed as (HP)(TP)(STR)(DEF)(INT)(EVA)(ACC). Tell you the truth. I don't know how this plays into anything for stat gains...

WHEEEEEEEE for typing all that.

Next time, The perfect Genis! :P

Yeah. You can't get the one in the resort until you have all of the other ones that you can get at the point in the game. You need that forest one before the guy will appear for some reason. Strange...:-/

Hey, I just got TOS, and i've got only one thing to say about it...

IT ROCKS THE HOUSE!!XD

Seriously, however, currently, I'm at that flaming T-rexish boss at the ????(Too lazy to check it's spelling.XD) ruins. (You know, the first one-the flame one?) Every Faq I've checked says to use Galois(Sp?)'s aqua edge, but I've never obtained it!! What do I need to do to get it??

PS: Currently, the moves he has are:

Force Feild
Fire Ball
Wind Blade
Stone Blast

Yep, I know they reek, but stilll, I NEED AQUA EDGE!!! ;_;

Level Genis up a bit more, I'm pretty sure that's how he learns it... I'm too lazy to check my strategy guide to make sure. XD
Now I'm trying to figure out how to get a good relationship with Kratos so I can get him later ^^;;

Hmm... I don't know whether to be glad or mad, but anyways, thanks!! *Goes off*...David-kun.XD

Genis learns spells only by leveling up. The only other thing would be his requirement to use the weaker version of a particular move 50 times (like if you have aqua laser's level requirement, you'll still need to use aqua edge 50 times first).

And the perfect Genis!

First, keep him technical. Train him in any way you wish, and once you learned Indignation (lightning --> Thunder Blade --> indignation), switch him to strike type.

Have him learn the strike version of ALL the other moves (aqua edge, fire ball, Wind Blade, Stone Blast, Icicle), and then let him learn all the other compound moves (except the ones that involves lightning combos). Once you're good on that, you can learn Prism Sword, the most powerful single target spell in the game.

Then just slap him the "Ultimate Kid" title and the concentrate EX skill. Have fun using the 2 most powerful spells in the game. *evil!*
