Team Rocket or Team Skull? Or any other Bad Team?

I like Team Rocket. I think that Team Skull is a bunch of wacky characters, no offense. I prefer Team Rocket over them & any other bad team. But that's my view. No offense. How about you all? Which bad team do you like? It's fine either way.

I feel like Team Rocket is actually a formidable, well-funded, intimidating organization, whereas Team Skull is basically just a group of troublemakers who want to show off their "edginess" and gain attention.

Team Skull are only a gang of thugs, they aren't even the real villains in SM (Guzma is great, though) and they fall there and bring Aether down with them because by the time the focus is on them the game is almost finishing. As much as I like the story in SM, that's something I have to recognize that failed, and I think they made the same mistake in SwSh with Team Yell and Rose.

Team Rocket on the other hand are the fucking mafia. If there's something I don't like about Team Rocket it's how used they are.

But if we're talking about villains in general I think Team Plasma takes the prize. I honestly don't remember much about my first B2W2 playthrough, but something I remember is that Team Plasma especially Ghetsis were total pieces of shit, and that's good I guess.

Lotsa guys picking Team Rocket here, and I have to agree. One thing that especially draws me to them is the iconic uniforms. So simple, yet so sleek and recognizable. Giovanni is a fashion icon confirmed.

Top two would be tied between Team Plasma and Team Galactic for me. Maybe the latter being just a lil bit ahead, what with their sociopathic Boss literally wanting to be god.

Team Rocket since I like how they organized like a real mafia with the underground casinos, the gym, etc.

Unpopular opinion, I liked Sun and Moon but never found Team Skull that funny. They were a weaker part of it for me.

I disagree! I actually love Team Skull and despise Yell. The thing with Skull is that it's a twist on the traditional evil team. It's not a particularly brilliant or well-written twist by other media standards, but then again this is Pokémon we're talking about. They start off seeming like a traditional evil team, but it becomes apparent pretty quickly that nobody really takes them seriously compared to the teams in the previous games. As you go on they start to seem less like criminals and more like a gang of runaway/homeless kids whose tough guy acts are just transparent posturing, which is directly implied in some statements and also evident in how Plumeria and Guzma (mostly Plumeria) talk about taking care of the gang members and end up not even really being villains in the end. It's cool and made me sympathize with them a lot.

Team Yell, on the other hand, is literally just wacky cartoon idiots. There's no twist to them, they're not secret bad guys or secret sympathetic good guys, they have no interesting motives or backstories. They're completely what it says on the tin. Uninspired waste of an evil team.

Team Skull is just a gang of thugs. Team Rocket, on the other hand, is a mafia organization. Everywhere you see Team Rocket grunts, they're carrying out Giovanni's plans. Collecting fossils at Mt. Moon to make money, a grunt on the Nugget Bridge who tries to recruit new people for Team Rocket, the infiltration and later takeover of Silph Co, and let's not forget the death of that Marowak. Unlike most evil team leaders, Giovanni doesn't really need any legendary Pokemon.

The evil team that comes the closest to Team Rocket is Team Plasma. In Pokemon Black and White, they try to peacefully convince people to release their Pokemon. But in B2W2, they cut it off with the masks and become more vicious.

I have to agree here. Team Skull was the least imposing out of all of the evil teams thus far due to their disorganization. They hardly felt like an actual gang and instead seemed like a group of edgy teenagers lashing out. Team skull was a complete missed opportunity in my opinion. Team rocket takes the cake without a doubt!

Also is team yell considered an evil team? Unless creating racket is somehow evil, I don't even see how they could be classified as such. To me, they only served the purpose of comic relief.

gonna have to disagree with these team skull takes

i mean, i feel like this is also comparing apples to oranges here in a sense. team rocket should be compared to the likes of pretty much every "world domination"-esque evil team afterwards. i'm not going to say that they're a bad evil team or anything, as i think they're okay at best, beating out team aqua/magma and even team flare, but they aren't anything super special. cyrus from team galactic imo is a much more intimidating and threatening evil boss than giovanni, and that's perhaps chalked up to personality as giovanni is a standard mafia calculating-esque villain while i'm not sure how much of cyrus is still human.

that said, team skull strikes a different tone, here. they're kind of a parody (even a self-parody of sorts) of evil teams in a way up to that point. prior to team skull, we constantly (even in the aether foundation) get these evil teams with grandiose visions of making it rich or taking over the world or destroying it with the cover legend, and here we have a lowly gang that just gets in people's way and pisses everyone off with their silly dance. they do legitimately steal a pokemon in the games so they're really not all talk, so they can be rather dangerous if they truly felt like it, but at the end of the day, they're just an ordinary street gang. for me, it's a relief how much of a different dynamic team skull is from every single other team beforehand. not to mention that guzma and plumeria are probably the most down to earth "villains" in the series. i dunno, i never really got that vibe from every other team leader, and i especially appreciated how guzma teamed up with the player against rainbow rocket at the end of usum and i think even battles with the player at that same point. i don't recall the last time i did that with any other evil team leader.

the tl;dr of what i'm trying to get at is that guzma imo has much more personality and dare i say he's more human ("relatable" if you want to go that route) than pretty much every other team leader, probably combined. yes, i realize this is Quite a Take, but it's nice to see that in a pokemon game every once in a while. team yell, on the other hand, tries to be team skull, but they took the silliness of team skull, cranked it up to a hundred, and left it at that. there's no real organization or rhyme or reason to it all. their entire thing is that they're a "gang" that supports marnie. i guess they can barely be called a villainous team in that respect, especially once the player finds out their real identities.
