The Atmosphere of The Welcome Lounge

I actually really like TWL these days. I don't post much too often, because I could echo shenanigans' words here. But it's nice that we have such a place dedicated to newbies and even a super eager mod for it, rather than just treating it like a backyard place.

Yeahhhh, and just to address that a bit, I really want the TWL board to be more relaxed and less.. formal, you know?

I just want everyone to understand that you don't need to make paragraphs and paragraphs of words to make a warm welcome.. I'd say its better to just be less formal and relax with the members, you know? Ideally that's what I want, but, it's tough to do it on my own. D:
 
It's honestly great i love it there and everyone does a great job there! Dragon does a great job moderating the place plus pretty much posts a welcome message to anyone! People there are also really great at directing people to forums they may like by recommendation which is absolutely great i get a wonderful amount of Vms from members there thanking me for welcoming them and like everyone of them knows dragon which is awesome to haha. Plus the leave return thread is great for returning and leaving members so we can welcome the elders of the place when they decide to get back on haha. It really is a great place especially for the newbie people who are looking to make friends or start a chat and really learn more about people. Once again i see a lot of regulars there along with a couple others and i really want to get on enough so i can get back up there and start welcoming the new members and helping dragon haha!
 
i don't really post in there quite often because i feel so repetitive and i feel like my welcome wouldn't be as important as a mod's welcome. also, i've posted a couple times saying i'm back since i seem to go on and off again. *i should probably post a thread, but idk lol*

There really shouldn't be any difference; a new user would love to see your welcome posts as much as mine... :3
 
I think the atmosphere has improved, and that's due to all the effort you keep pouring into it... all while balancing three other sections and the Showdown server on top of that. My opinion is that I think we've been getting more visitors lately outside of the usual "elite four" (you, Sheep, Archy and myself) and it's nice seeing more people giving TWL the love it needs.

Hopefully the improvements mean we might see the new guys who get welcomed by us and the other regulars actually stick around long-term. I actually find it sad when those we say hello to end up vanishing on us weeks or months after joining.

The eggs idea is so much fun! I mean, maybe it's bad if people want to post just to get eggs (collecting is a dangerous addiction~) but it's also really nice that people are greeting, right? Which I'm sure was your intention. It's sure working. And I don't know what could possibly be intimidating, apart from possibly the adoption centre haha... Perhaps it seems a bit formal and serious, when you just wanted to join a forum and have some casual talks. But hey, I wouldn't really know, so don't take my thoughts as facts, please.

Overall, section is presh, the stickies seem useful and the splash is welcoming.
 
I feel like the eggs system was the biggest innovation to the section during Shawn's rule. It's been pretty much unmatched, and I could imagine how I'd feel if he were to retire because the heir will have probably the biggest shoes to fill. The progress is going well, and it's definitely serving the incentive to get more people to say hello to the new guys.
 
I felt very welcomed on my first day here at PC. I never thought I would a lot of friends here either but I've been proven wrong. Unlike previous forums I've been on I'll be staying here for a long time.
