Hmm, I might have to try the games again and see if this'll make the post-game more interesting - I don't tend to care for the Frontier-esque challenges but you all seem to love them so maybe I pre-judged haha.

In Emerald, the Battle Frontier is about the only thing in the whole postgame, the other being the capture of Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza. Ruby and Sapphire have even less. That's what I love about Sinnoh, its awesome postgame: the Pokéradar and a whole bonus island!

The Generation V installments had a really good postgame in my opinion, but I'd say that HG/SS's postgame was still lengthier.

Kind of a shame that people overlook even reaching B2W2's post game and let some insignificant gripes that should be even easier to overlook keep them from enjoying the good stuff. *flees*

I've always loved Unova so, so much. It's my favorite region next to Hoenn and the story was breathtaking in both the originals and sequels.. wish it weren't so overlooked. But alas, the graphics didn't improve much from the fourth generation and people didn't like many of the new Pokemon. Pah. ;_;

Gen V was alright, wasn't my favourite but I did enjoy Black 2/White 2. I'll admit it did introduce some awesome Pokémon; Whimsicott, Vanilluxe, Zebstrika, Mienshao to name a few!

I adored Generation V! Too bad it was introduced during the era where a crap ton of people started hating the new installments of their "childhood franchises." (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's/Zexal, Digimon Xros Wars, and Metal Fight Beyblade all fell victim to this, despite most of those titles being arguably superior to many of their predecessors.) Unfortunately, the Pokémon Best Wishes anime suffered the hardest backlash of all...

Reminds me of this ♥

I really like Best Wishes, was one of my favourite anime series so far. I found Iris pretty likable (most people don't seem to for some reason :s) and the Pokémon they caught were pretty interesting - it got a bit less likable as the BW2 arc came around but I stopped watching at that stage haha.

Well, best wishes wasn't that good. Metal Fight Beyblades were cool though.

While I definitely agree with you (comparing it to other franchises), the problem is that the Pokémon anime was never good, but a giant portion of the fanbase acted as if the show went from "God Tier" to "Trash Tier," when the quality was in fact relatively consistent. (Yes, I'm aware that Ash got a lot dumber, but the quality of the show isn't solely dependent on Ash's intelligence.)

While I might agree that it has never been fantastic it has been generally quite good. The best wishes series wasn't though. On the other hand the XY series has been very good so far (if you compare it to other parts of the anime) which reminds be that I should really catch up with the newest episodes.

While we do seem to differ in that regard, I must 100% agree with you about XY. I mean, I couldn't believe how good it was compared to its predecessors. I just hope they don't drop a "Decolora Adventure" on us again.

From what I've seen and read, the XY series looks like one of the best to date. I would've liked to have kept up with it tbh, perhaps I can catch it online somewhere.

Cilan was definitely the highlight of the series for me, I adored watching his quirky personality and he came out with some really interesting lines - it was also refreshing to see a character that had a more unique passion for his life.

Also wow Kakuna's being stubborn!
