I'd absolutely love to learn a few more instruments, namely violin and guitar.

I'm probably majoring in piano. My (Asian) parents forced me to learn it since an early age, but I guess it paid off. x_x

I know how to play the violin and the keyboard, although I only have a keyboard that I haven't touched in about a month.
 
I've got a piano exam next month that I *kind of* feel ready for. D: I love playing the piano, though, so it's not that much of a chore for me to practice.

I am so hopeless with the guitar, though. XD; I bought my first (and still current) guitar when I was around thirteen or so. Nearly six years later and I can only play like... four chords? I've been taught by a few teachers (and even my best friend) in that timespan but could never grasp it for some reason.

I got a violin for Christmas two years ago and I'm really excited to learn how to play. I tried teaching myself but I kind of failed, haha. I'm going to get formal lessons as soon as I finish grade eight in piano, which won't be for another year or two.
 
I have almost no musical aptitude. :/ I learnt to play trumpet back in grade 6 but I wasn't very good at it and I moved away before I could improve... and my new school didn't have a band (or any music program) and then I didn't have the elective space in my high school after that for band. :P All I remember are the simple scales and how to read them on a sheet of music.

I'm actually more into singing than playing instruments. I love singing and always have. I sing with a performing group (I'll actually go to a practice in about half an hour from now), I sing when I'm bored, I sing when I'm in the shower... I sing all the time. It's one of the best things I know. I don't have the most beautiful voice in the world, but it's not too shabby, if I daresay so myself.

And I love whistling~ *whistles* Ever since I got rid of my braces I've been amazed at how easy it is to whistle. I couldn't do that for 2 years when I had them xD

That's really cool, I'd love to hear you sing even just once. I think people with a real knack for singing end up being the ones who sound the best, rather than those egocentric people who think managing through one song during karaoke makes them the best that the country will ever see (and trust me, I know plenty of these people where I live.)
 
I don't want to be rude, because there are plenty of people everywhere that are Lady Gaga fans, and I like some of her songs too...but there are some songwriters that I personally consider more substantial with their lyrics than her.

But hey, personal taste. :P

I used to play the violin and flute, then moved on to guitar and was pretty good for a while, and now not so much, but I've always wanted to go back to the violin.

Word.

At her core, I don't think Gaga is the most abysmal singer in the world either. Some of her songs are catchy, but... catchy doesn't really put mustard on the hotdog if you know what I mean.
 
I don't really like Gaga that much but I think she brought a lot to the music industry with both her image and her songs. Definitely noticeably different to all of the other "radio music" that I hear anyway.
 
I was never allowed to play a musical instrument as a kid. My parents refused to pay the fee for me to be in band in school, and even after I was offered a used instrument to join, they said that I'd catch AIDS from putting my lips on an instrument that someone else's lips touched...yeah. At least I joined the greatest band ever in the DCC last night as the resident accordionist/castanet...ist...er...something.

Fair enough. At the same time, she does come off as a bit of an attention ***** - don't get me wrong, I don't mind *****s - however, some of her outlandish antics are very deliberate and tend to detract from her musical talent.

EDIT: huh...why is ***** censored? There's a whole thread about them in the OC forum. :P

Why didn't you self-teach? That's what I did, and still do, and it's always been just fine for me.

She definitely is an attention 'prostitute'. But then, it's helped her get noticed. It worked I guess, not that I at all like it. But it definitely worked way in her advantage.
