I vaguely knew TB and SU and I was friends with Loki when she was a regular mod. So no getting in just cause you're friends. XD

That's a silly reason to think that ): [/one to talk][/has a horrible past about that][/augh][/asdfghjkl;]

...I still think you should have been put on staff during that period of time when there was no one to mod the "other entertainment" section.

And sorry, but I'm gonna have to disagree. In the near 3 years that I've been here, I've noticed that being friends with staff puts you at a huge advantage when a spot becomes open. I mean sure, there are exceptions to this (although I personally can't think of any), and you can all post here telling us all how untrue that is, but I've seen differently.

I personally have no interest in ever taking up a staff job here, don't get me wrong. But I've seen others who were very qualified be turned down, or overlooked because of members who had "mod friends" being promoted.

For the record, though I doubt you'll believe me, getting modded/promoted has absolutely nothing to do with being our friend.
A little correction... that depends on who you suck up to. I've seen people Modded over being friends with someone. But as for passing in a Staff vote... nah, not going to happen.

Hmm... A respected member... I honestly try to be as nice and helpful as possible, though I don't think it'll come to the point where I'll be well-respected XD

I just hope that the ones best-fitted to become Mods do in fact become Mods, or that the Mods best-fitted to become S-Mods to become S-Mods, like BeachBoy ^^

By the way, just wanted to say... Love your theme, Arcanine. It's beautiful <3

Drew.

Almost nobody knew Drew (That I know of O_o)
But she was fit for the job, obviously.

I think what makes most people think that is that most people who get modded end up being friends with the staff. So it seems like all of the people who get on it were chosen out of favouritism :[
Like Limey said, Drew ^^ It didn't seem like many knew the person 'til now. I place my bets on BeachBoy watching them in the Newbies section, though, and then talking to the other Staff about it XD

But really, I don't think it's a matter of being friends with Mods. After all, just because they're friends doesn't mean they're capable of Modding a section of PC. They could be speaking chatspeak and have a total immature persona, for all we know, and they'd still be friends with a lot of the staff just because they're fun to talk to.

But idk XD

Before getting modded, I had only talked to Jake about his hack and to M3 when he came to warn a thread I posted in XD That's all.

It's not matter of being friends with the staff, you can be friends with almost all but not be considered fit for that position. It's not that easy :x

When I was first modded here, I knew like...one other mod, I think, and even then I didn't talk to him that much. Same thing when I was s-modded. Sure, I talked to them every now and then, but I didn't even really get to know anybody personally until after I'd gotten that pretty orange name.

I have to wonder how many of those people who had skills who were "overlooked" even did anything to stand out on the forums. I've probably overlooked a few people by accident, myself - and not because I favored friends, but because I didn't even know those people existed. :c

No, I shouldn't have xD
I'm incompetent, and I have problems with following through with community rules when it matters(I learned that then I was modded elsewhere). It's not all it's cracked up to be. Think of it as a "chore", and you "get into trouble" if you mess up "once". I like quotation marks. It marks my sarcasm \o/

Well, it seems like a lot of the Mods we know and love today didn't get modded because they were friends with many mods, huh? ^^ That's nice to know.

'Tis the thing I love about PC. The mods are fair, the users are cool (except for the occasional n00bs that spam the forums =P), and they apparently do pwnsome stuff for April Fools' Day XD

o.o

Maybe elsewhere, but it's definitely not like that on PC. I never expect people to be perfect mods, in fact, I expect mistake and mess-ups. As for "getting into trouble", it would take a pretty damn huge mess-up to get into real trouble on PC. We've given staff warnings before but it's only when a person gets really out of hand.

Modding, and being on staff in general (since with each rank up you go, you have to basically re-learn everything from scratch), is a huge learning process. It's right for some people, but like you said, it's not all it's cracked up to be. It's not always fun, it gets downright annoying sometimes to have to deal with people.

Oh, no I meant the high staff there was mean. Really mean xD;
And they didn't really do their jobs ): and it wasn't a big huge forum like PC anyway so it doesn't really matter

But yeah, I know what you mean. Not MUCH cause I got sick of it and quit without getting much of a promotion, but I get it~

I would hate to mod something like Diamond and Pearl because of annoying people.
CME, you must have some patience. Have fun when Platinum comes out o.o

Not trying to agree with every thing a Mod says, but I have to admit, it does sound hard XD Then again, I do like to learn (though not in school, actually XD), so it sounds like something I'd love to do. Of course, not like the S-Mods and Admins are just gonna say "Hey, 'Fia' looks like she could make a great Mod for the Pokemon Roleplay" or anything like that XD That'd be unfair, no? But especially with forums like the emulation and D/P forums, no wonder there are plenty of Mods in charge of those X_X

And really, no one's perfect. Mod or Admin (or Rukario, for that matter =P), no matter what your rank, there's no such thing as being "perfect". And those that think they (or others) are "perfect", then, well... I think they should try to change how they think. But that's just me >.>

Thank you Fia. I think it fits me pretty good. ^_^

My thoughts on friends is... well pointless here. Because a lot of my friends became Staff. I didn't bring them up, and I've even voted no on some friends. But that's where the line between Staff matters and personal matters comes into play. And that's why not every Mod is cut out to be an S-Mod. And just because someone is an AA you might think "Well it's just a matter of time till he/she gets promoted". Not really, not every AA is cut to be an SA. And so on and so on. It's just everyone has different parts to "play". But when it comes to the Higher Staff, the ones who worked their way up from Mod... to whatever Higher Staff rank they hold... they know how to be unbias when it comes to friends and such.
If they don't... then lets just say it won't be that way for long. XD

Edit: Wow... all of that sounded a lot better in my head... sounded stupid on paper. XD
