US feels sucky =/
At least it's safer than Israel though, every passing day feels like you're on verge of war, and the dramatic themes I hear now doesn't really help it.

Drinking age is higher in the US, and a lot of people abide by that law.

Can't say I heard people actually doing that here. Most people at my high school are all about "omglol let's get drunk and party and have teh secks" even though they're probably shy as a mouse when they aren't around their incredibly judgmental "friends".

It used to be 18, but then the federal government threatened to take away highway funding in the 1970s if states didn't up their drinking ages. Some states do still have laws that permit drinking under 21 in certain circumstances, but those states are few and far between.

@ Luck: It varies from area to area, and whether or not one's parents actually care about that law. Plus, peer pressure is powerful.

I agree with that. Me and my friends drink for the fun of it.

Wasn't MADD at least partly responsible for raising the age limit?

I always thought it was extremely trashy.

Hey SpikyPika, welcome ^^

Why is the limit high as 21 there anyway?

Drunk driving was absurdly popular and there needed to be a way to scare people into obeying. So they just used Johnny Law to help them (b'-')b

Or so I've been told.

My family's Italian.. so ever since I was little I was offered sips of beer or a glass of wine and stuff.. so.. alchohol isn't a big deal for me.

I guess I just don't see the charm in getting drunk, and I definitely don't see the appeal of throwing up over a toilet seat while being completely smashed..

:/ I'm 20 and gonna be turning 21 soon.. but to be honest? I just think there's better things in life that I could be doing than drinking or spending my money on booze.

Also drinking age in Canada is 18 I believe.. (depending where in Canada)

Whenever someone mentions Italy, I can't help but think about this.

I don't drink very often... Maybe a beer, but that's it. Vodka only on several occasions.
But sometimes, there are some single days, or situations, when I have to get drunk. I don't even care about vomiting and my head then, but those are very rare situations.
