As with every Pokémon game, X and Y have the Elite Four, who you battle as your adventure nears its end. Here, the Elite Four consists of Malva, who uses Fire-types, Wikstrom, who takes specialty in Steel-types, Drasna, who utilizes Dragon-types, and finally, Siebold, who throws at you some waves with his Water-types.

What did you think of the Kalos Elite Four? Did you enjoy battling them? Were they difficult for you? What do you think could have been done better with them? Discuss.

I really liked the Kalos Elite 4, they were pretty awesome! I really enjoyed battling them, but they were too easy to defeat. They were easy to defeat because the game made it so you had high level Pokemon (as getting Exp. was not a problem due to updated Exp. Share and O-Powers) and Mega Evolutions. If anything, I wish the Elite 4 (and the champion too) could've been more difficult.

Their intrudoctions were pretty awesome. Malva is the sexiest, although she clearly shows her hate towards you in next attempts. However, they're were all too easy for me, Champion included, I could honestly crush them with just Magneton (with Eviolite) :)

Oh, really? How was Malva? :P

But that said, on one hand I did like their personalities. On the other hand, as far as gameplay goes I too found them rather underwhelming, except for Siebold. For one they only have four Pokémon, when i'm sure they easily could have had five or even full teams of six given the massive Kalos Pokédex. And I do get that they'd want to make their aces Kalos Pokémon, although some of their Pokémon are questionable. And it doesn't help that their teams don't change in the post-game, that was a letdown too.

Malva has Pyroar, which is fast and can use Noble Roar, which admittedly can cripple. Chandelure is also decent too so that was a good one for her. Of all of them, the oddest one is Torkoal, which does have huge Defense but the Special isn't too spectacular. It uses Curse, but I guess it's sufficient.

For Wikstrom, admittedly Scizor is good, and Aegislash can be tricky to get past, and Klefki can be a jerk with Torment and Spikes. But Probopass wasn't too good a choice i'd say; Magnezone would definitely be better on that note.

I do like Druddigon, but Drasna's had a crappy moveset (two Normal moves? Why not something better). They could've gone the Sheer Force route like Iris', and they really should've gave her a pseudo-legendary like Garchomp or Hydreigon instead of Altaria, especially considering you just battled one against Serena/Calem in Victory Road.

Lastly, Siebold, who as I said I find the best of them by far. Clawitzer hits hard with Mega Launcher boosted attacks, and Starmie is fast and can use Light Screen. Barbaracle is a strong physical attacker with Tough Claws to boost all its attacks except Stone Edge. But his Gyarados is scary since it can use Dragon Dance. It's never screwed me over per se but i've gotten quite lucky against it.

However, I did enjoy battling them if only for their awesome battle backgrounds. In my Wedlocke, Wikstrom turned out to be the hardest because his Klefki used Torment on my Durant and that led to it being wasted against his Aegislash. =( My Lanturn with Stockpile came to the rescue, though. Siebold was a bit scary too, but Stockpile came in handy against him.

Also, fun fact. All the Kalos Elite Four members use aces of previous generation Gym Leaders/Elite Four alongside their Kalos Pokémon:
Malva uses Flannery's ace (Torkoal) and Shauntal's (Chandelure).
Wikstrom uses Bugsy's ace (Scizor) and Roxanne's (Probopass). Yes, they don't technically use those in the initial battles, but they use them in the PWT, and Bugsy has a Scizor in the rematches in HGSS so I'm counting it.
Drasna uses Winona's ace (Altaria), and Druddigon, which while not the ace of any important battles, was used by both Alder and Iris (Gen V's Champions), and Drayden.
Siebold uses Misty's ace (Starmie), and Gyarados, which while not the ace of any Gym Leader or Elite Four, was used by three previous Champions (your rival in Kanto, Lance and Wallace) and Gym Leaders (Crasher Wake, Clair and Blue).

It's a little bit sad that the E4 members all only had four Pokemon. I mean what's so elite about people who can't even get a full team (or at least 5 Pokemon) together and I'm not even talking about how easy they were thanks to the Exp Share.

Just think about it: add all the Pokemon together that previous E4 had, who used 5 Pokemon and compare that to the number the newer E4 had. The difference is four, which basically means that in the previous games you had to fight one E4 member more than in the newer ones.

Malva was extremely difficult for me to get through. When I'd first battle her, few of my strongest team members were Chesnaught, Blastoise, and Espeon, which her Talonflame was able to get trough quite easily with Brave Bird and Flare Blitz. As for rest, her other Pokémon were able to take care of them. To get her beaten, if I remember correctly, it had taken me about five to six attempts. I've had to use a lot of recovery items alongside.

Personally, though, I really like her design; in terms of that, she's one of the best characters I've seen in recent years, to be honest!

Okay, Chesnaught I would totally understand, and Espeon possibly because that one's frail, but Blastoise? Talonflame has pretty meh Special Defense and HP and its Attack is only around average. :P

Surprised people haven't orgasmed over her like they have Flannery, though.

"Easily" might have been an overstatement, actually, but somehow, her Talonflame still did manage to find some way to get past it, haha.

I didn't like this elite four at all. Honestly they seemed pretty weak (Except Siebold obviously). To me this was the easiest Elite four in the series. I don't understand why the Elite Four only had 4 Pokemon. Hopefully the E4 will get better in future games. The introductions were amazing! ^^

I have yet to find an Elite 4 that I really like, but I'll admit that the flashy entrances and cool rooms that Kalos's E4 has is pretty sweet. Kinda wish that they each had one more Pokemon....but at least there wasn't a Dark type member AGAIN.

The Kalos Elite Four was just way too easy for me. 4 Pokemon only? No boost in levels when you rematch them? The hell, Game Freak? That was one of the reasons I liked B/W's E4 so much - they got stronger after the first time, and they had more Pokemon. With that, Kalos' E4 had personalities I didn't really like. Malva got too salty after you beat her the first time, Siebold's boring to me, and Wikstrom's too much of a roleplayer in my opinion. I only liked Drasna because she mentions having been from the Sinnoh region, and I'm mad about there.

Of this Elite Four, the one that really stood out to me was Drasna :)

She was the first member that I faced and her personality left a big impression on me :) Her genuine kindness was something I hadn't really seen before from an Elite Four member, and it didn't come off as cheesy or anything either :) The fact that she waves goodbye to you and roots for you against Diantha I just thought was quite something lol :)

Malva and Siebold I thought had epic designs although I was a little let down by their personalities. Wikstrom was somewhere in between them and Drasna, although I actually liked him so I guess he'd be closer to Drasna :)

I loved the way each room had their own special opening, and the water background when battling Siebold was my fave :)

I felt the Kalos Elite Four were pushovers. Didn't really like how they only had four Pokemon and no rematch teams. Thus, my battles with them weren't all that enjoyable. At least you get a lot of exp. and money from the battles; the easiness helps with leveling up other Pokemon!

Individually, I like all but Wikstrom (though I don't hate him). I was surprised that Malva was part of Team Flare when I first faced her, since I thought she was just a reporter. However, this is what I really liked about her: she's the first E4 member to be part of the region's evil organization (at least to our knowledge), and she clearly despises you for ruining Team Flare. I also like that she got a role in the Looker sidequest, though I wish she had more appearances as a Team Flare member. Drasna I liked because of her chill demeanor; her chamber is also my favorite and I like that she has Sinnoh routes. Obligatory "Sinnoh remakes confirmed!" Siebold is hot and very passionate about what is art; admittedly I thought he was an artist like Burgh for some time even though he made references to cooking, haha. I really like his design a lot, and his chamber is very pretty <3 As for Wikstrom, I like that he speaks as if he were from medieval times, thus living up to his appearance, which I also like. It's cool~

If I could improve the Kalos E4, I'd give them five Pokemon for the initial battle, then give them rematch teams where their Pokemon would be much higher leveled and they'd have full teams of six. Maybe give them Megas, too: Mega Houndoom for Malva, Mega Gyarados for Siebold, Mega Garchomp for Drasna, and Mega Scizor for Wikstrom. The Megas don't have to necessarily be their highest leveled Pokemon, as Calem/Serena have a Mega Absol that is two levels below their starter.

I thought that the Elite 4 this time around was way too east. Instead, I would've preferred a Dragon, Dark, Fire and Fairy Elite Four. For pete's sake, one of the biggest additions to this game was the addition of Fairy types! If it was so big then why not make an E4 member with it!? Also, I expected to go up against more mega evolutions in the E4, but instead I was able to sweep most teams with my mega evolutions. Lame.

The only Pokemon that ever gave me a problem was Goodra specifically. If I didn't have an ice attack handy then taking this guy down would be a pain.

The best will always be BW's league imo, but I thought this group was alright.
Malva's involvement with Flare was interesting, they should have expanded on that a bit. Wikstrom is my favorite, he's such a cutie pie and I just. wanna. snuggle him! <3
Drasna was a nice lady but kind of bland, and i can't stand seibold, ew. I do love Diantha, if she counts.

As for their teams/battles, they were all pretty easy and I had no trouble with any of them. 4 Pokemon each is pretty bad, and the choices for some were bleh. I was hoping Wikstrom would have a Bisharp or Escavalier, and Druddigon is easily the worst dragon.
Diantha too could have used some work on her team.

I think they were good, but not the best. I think Malva is easily the most interesting. Wikstrom and Siebold are okay and then Drasna is just so boring. I feel like there have been so many dragon type specialists that at this point if you're going to make another one they have to stand out or be interesting in some way. Or maybe I should say most of the dragon specialists before her did stand out in some way. Drasna is just a nice old lady... Also her shoe choice weirds me out a bit.

Actually battling them was a joke and kind of a letdown to end a game that way. I'm really hoping if a third game is made their teams are fixed.

Like the gym leaders this gen they seemed really unpolished, if that's the word? No real difficulty either, even in my second run without the EXP share. I didn't like many chars this gen although I have a soft spot for Wikstrom. He's up there in my top favorites. I honestly only remember Malva because of the Looker Quests and the other two I couldn't care less about. Tbh I wish Valerie and Wulfric had been E4 members, they were better challenges and fun characters and I think would have fit well.
