[Challenge] The Monotype Challenge Re:Returns

Ooooooo boy! This challenge is a lot harder than I thought (well DUH!). I am enjoying the challenge a lot though, it's really testing my skills and resourcefulness. Also something I did not take note of when I started, was using Ruby version, where Team Magma will be using more fire types! I'm so used to playing Sapphire version that I didn't think of that :pink_confused: Oh well! More of a challenge for me haha. Anyway, I decided to write a quick little run down of my progess for each Gym!

The Journey of Pebbly the Bug Catcher!

As soon as I had access to Pokeballs, I caught a Wurmple (named Bailey) on the first route. Originally I was considering raising both a Beautiful AND a Dustox, but then I just figured I would see what luck would give me! I also caught a Surskit (named Brielle), then started training both of my Pokemon up and Wurmple ended up evolving into Silcoon! I continued on through the story, and before taking on Roxanne, I decided to catch a Nincada, naming it Bianca. I'd never used the two evolutions before so I was excited to give it a go! Also my Silcoon evolved in Beautifly.
Now onto Roxanne! Her Geodude wasn't a problem for me, but I had trouble with Nosepass - he was a tough cookie! I whited out the first try, but on the second I got it and received my first gym badge!

Brawly:

I made my way back to the tunnel to help out the Devon guy again, and also helped Mr Briney. Headed to Dewford town soon after that, and started taking on the gym trainers. They were easily defeated, and I used a mix of my Pokemon to make sure they were getting experience. When it came to Brawly though, I ended up just using Gust from Bailey. With Brawly defeated, I sought out Steven in the nearby cave to give him his letter. Now, onto Slateport!

I continued training all of my Pokemon as I made my way up the Routes. I can't remember 100%, but somewhere here is might have been when Nincada evolved. I now had not only a Ninjask but also Shedinja - which I named Bow. My rival, Brendan, posed a bit of a challenge (considering he had a Combusken - silly me for choosing Treeko as a starter!), but I did well considering. While training on the Daycare route, I decided to grab a Volbeat to give it a try, which I named Benji. Soon enough, Benji would prove his worth to the team!
At this point, I also decided to invest in some Vitamins to give my Bug Pokemon a bit more power behind them. I caught a bunch of Zigzagoons, and while training each Pokemon, grabbed their Pick up Items. This was a really nice way to make a bunch of money early on in the game, and eventually I bought some vitamins from the Energy Guru in Slateport. After raising all of my team to about level 25? I figured I was ready to take on Wattson!
Boy... I did not know the troubles I had ahead. His first Pokemon, Magnemite, was already a challenge. It had Supersonic as well as Thunder Wave, so he was constantly confusing and paralyzing my Pokemon. After failing miserably the first battle, I decided I should be using some berry's to counter the paralysis! I also came up with a strategy - opening with Bow, I would Sand attack him to my hearts content, then wittle it down with attacks. Then came Voltorb. With Rollout, it meant I couldn't really use Bailey, Bianca, or Bow. I relied on Benji using Moonlight and Confuse Ray, which worked a charm most of the time, but he was normally knocked out by Self Destruct :pink_frown: Now, the worst part of this battle for sure was Magneton! Up til this point, I was already slugging it out defeating his first two Pokemon. Basically none of my attacks would do anything to Magneton except for Brielle's BubbleBeam - which still took 2-3 hits to feint it. I tried a few different strategies in the many times I attempted this battle, and I ended up relying on Bianca using Sand attack as many times as she could, and then switching in Brielle. Eventually with basically a bunch of luck, Brielle managed to wipe out Magneton with her Bubblebeams! PRAISE THE BUG LORDS!

After that slugfest, I was super worried about this next part. I had to defeat team Magma at Mt Chimney, as well as the next gym leader - both of them using Fire types.
In the end though, Team Magma was pretty easy - after all the training in the previous routes, my Pokemon were at a pretty good level to overpower Maxie. This trend continued to the next gym. Although I did get defeated by Flannery the first go, it only took another try to defeat her. The first go, I was trying to use a variety of my team and see how I went. After that failed spectacularly, I decided to just spam Brielles Bubblebeam and made quick work with her team. Next update, I will be onto Norman!

Update on Flying SoulSilver challenge:

Am about 5 badges into the journey. Got a Totodile (BIRDFEEDER), but replaced him with a Pidgey (AIRFORCE 1), Hoothoot (HOOTERS), Zubat (NOT BATMAN) Spearow (LAGANN), Hoppip (ALLERGEN), & Ledyba (MIRACULOUS) basically immediately. Trained them up and used them to beat Falkner and Sprout Tower, then moved on to Azalea Town. Actually had a bit of trouble there, because Bugsy managed to land nothing but critical hits on every one of his attacks somehow. Eventually won and moved on. Around this time, Togepi (OMELET) hatched and I fished up a Magikarp (POSEIDON). Level grinded them until they evolved and moved on.

Beat both Whitney and Morty with ease, rotating my Pokemon around a bit. Did all the Lighthouse business, got the medicine and beat Chuck, then went back to catch the Red Gyarados and beat Team Rocket before challenging Jasmine (Her team is gonna be what kills me, I'm sure)

Ultimate Dragon Monotype in Pokémon Heart Gold

PART 1

​

It's time to continue my Dragon Ultimate run, this time in Johto. I only had to make few changes to the game. I hacked Horsea as my starter, accidentally putting it on Chikorita's place (My plan was to put it on Cyndaquil's place to force Chikorita on Rival's team). And I changed Seadra's evolution method to using Dragon Scale, so I can actually evolve it.

So I started Johto journey with female Horsea named Misty. I leveled up to level 10 on the first Route, because Horsea is squishy. And after a little struggle with Sprout Tower, where I survived with 1 HP left, I beat Falkner with ease.

Then I got in really interesting battle. I only had Horsea with Water-type damaging moves and Normal-type status moves and I got challenged by a youngster with Wooper. Wooper with Water Absorb. So I had exactly 0% chance to win. Fast forward to Bugsy - I was sure I can win, mostly because I was overleveled, but then I got OHKO'd by Scyther's U-turn. So it's strategy time. First survive U-turn, then set up Focus Energy and Smokescreen and finally lend the critical hit, powered up by Sniper ability, on Scyther. Easy!

Moving on Goldenrod City. It's time for the biggest enemy of every Pokémon Trainer... Casino! I was lucky and got enough coins for second and final dragon for my team - Dratini called Mythbuster, Second of his name, king of the dragons and protector of Kanto. And after a short training session he was ready to face Whitney. And now that I have access to Dragon-type moves she had no chance. Two Dragon Rages were enough take her down.

i trained a little bit before roxie. snivy evolved into servine, and sewaddle into swadloon. the battle wasn't as difficult as i thought it would be, but i had to reset once, i think. finished the pokestars studio quest. not looking forward to burgh at all!

Ultimate Dragon Monotype in Pokémon Heart Gold

PART 2

​

Well, time for another update. I got to Ecruteak City and after beating my Rival and meeting legendary doggos I challenged Morty. I was confident in beating him, because I had no problem beating any trainers in his Gym. But oh boy, this was a massacre. Mythbuster barely beat his first Gastly. Then he sent out Gengar and it OHKO'd both Mythbuster and Misty. So I decided to trainer all around the city and even got as far as clearing the Olivine City's Lighthouse, where Mythbuster evolved. And so I challenged Morty for a rematch. And it was only a little but better this time. Gengar was still faster and hit harder, but after sacrificing Misty in an attempt to heal Mythbuster, I was able to take it down. His Haunters them killed themselves with Curse.

Going back to Olivine and beyond to Cianwood City and Chuck. Finally a worthy honorable opponent. I had 2 Pokémon so he also used 2. It was fine battle. Misty took on Primeape and Mythbuster fought Poliwrath. I returned to Olivine and right after landing returned to Cianwood for the Ampharos' medicine Oh and Misty evolved sometime during the journey.

I challenged Jasmine and she was pretty strong. Her Steelix had higher level than my dragons, but I was still somehow able to beat her. After a bunch of healing. And then it hit. Why am I using only Surf and Dragon Rage, when I can teach both of my Pokémon new moves from Goldenrod Game Corner? And so I spent some time on grinding coins and learning new moves. I'm ready for the rest of the game now.

after arriving to castelia and defeating team plasma in the sewers, i caught the third member of my team, Cabbage the Cottonee. i trained a bit before Burgh. salad evolved into Leavanny shortly before facing him, and she ended up taking all of his mons out with a little bit of a struggle. then i caught the fourth member, Eliott the Roselia, in Lostlorn Forest.

trained the gang a lil before elesa, up to lvl 28. i decided to start off the battle with eliott, setting up toxic spikes for her other pokemon. salad ended up being the mvp of the fight. at the very end she died of a crit, but thankfully zebstrika died to poison right after. avoided all trainers in route 6, and caught the 5th member of the team, Matthew the Ferroseed!

clay was more of a chore then i thought he would be. maybe i underestimated him a little, since with my grass gang i thought it'd be fairly easy to take him out. after beating him i did the tournament + plasma ship events. i also deposited Cabbage (Cottonee) since i decided id rather use his spot for either Tangrowth or Virizion. i gotta use the last spot for an hm slave, since none of my mons can learn surf/fly, and none of the grass types i can get can learn either i believe.

X Psychic Monotype Challenge - Update #3

• After we were done with Grant, we had more matters to take care of. There were some Team Flare grunts on Route 10, but those were handled rather handily. And from there we made our way to Geosenge Town, where after confronting a grunt, Serena showed up but had missed them too.
• Right after that, we were met with Korrina, who wanted a battle! Her first Lucario I was able to mess with a bit by undoing its Attack boost thanks to Supertron's Topsy-Turvy and putting it to sleep. Sleeper and Natsu gained big EXP there. It weakened the second but I sacked off Supertron to get Sleeper in and finish it, which allowed them both to reach Level 25, and for Sleeper to evolve into Meowstic.
• After that, there was Route 11, which had some Fighting-type trainers to contend against! But before I did anything else, I went into Reflection Cave and caught a Solosis that I named Atomic, and decided to add to the team. As for the trainers… For some reason, that Level 28 Mienfoo ALWAYS puts up at least some sort of a headache for me. The double duo wasn't too bad, though. That's what happens when you have something that can easily super-effective.
• As for Reflection Cave, there were some trainers that dealt some damage, including one with an Absol, but for the most part I had the right moves to get through them. They gave quite a bit of EXP, though, so that was cool.
• Soon we were in Shalour City! There were some cool items, and we met with Tierno and Trevor once more, and in the Tower of Mastery we learned about Mega Evolution and what this Intriguing Stone does. It came down to me and Serena for a battle for the Mega Ring! As she began with Meowstic, I started with Supertron and took a Fake Out with a critical hit for 1/5, then two exchanges between her Disarming Voice and my Payback had me with 1/4 left and her being 2HKO'd. Absol was after, and I let Sleeper give it a Fake Out… But I realized I dropped Disarming Voice and had to switch. I let Atomic get sacked, but it dealt some Rocky Helmet damage in the process. Randori took a moderate Quick Attack, lowered her Speed with Rock Tomb and finished her with Rock Smash. Frogadier…used Quick Attack for 1/3 my remaining health and that allowed me to use Rock Tomb for 1/4 or so. I brought in Natsu just for some EXP as she used Quick Attack again (why?). Water Pulse got me to 5 HP, while my Psybeam did alright and got her below half. I let Temple finish her with Air Cutter for the win.
• After that was the Shalour Gym! Psychic-types against Fighting-types, well, you can guess how that turned out. But then we came to Korrina herself, once again! As she began with Mienfoo, I started with my own Fighting-type, Randori. She used Fake Out for over 1/4, but I had the Rocky Helmet. Force Palm hit pretty hard, and got her into the range where two hits from Double Slap finished her with the Rocky Helmet. I was just over half. Hawlucha was next, though. I brought in Temple, and took a pathetic Flying Press, then avoided another and did well over half with Air Cutter. After a measly critical hit (oh no, 15 damage, whatever shall I do), I slammed her with Psybeam. And Temple grew to Level 29. Machoke was last. I used Reflect as she used Leer, then I switched out for Atomic and took a Rock Tomb for 1/5. Power-Up Punch did light but boosted her Attack, but Psyshock OHKO'd for the win.
• I then dealt with the business at the Tower of Mastery, but there wasn't really any use for it since nothing I can get will be making any use of it. Once I was in Coumarine City, though, I got the Lucky Egg. And the Good Rod. With it, I caught a Staryu on Route 8 and named it Kaleidoscope, and decided to immediately evolve it into Starmie. And then there were more trainers to beat! Some of them dealt some damage (like a Miltank), but they gave good EXP. And while we were at it, Supertron evolved into Malamar.
• Once we arrived in Coumarine City proper, Serena was ready for battle!
  Supertron handled Meowstic with little trouble, but I had to sack Atomic off to Absol after a failed Hypnosis. Randori took over half from Bite but scored a critical hit Force Palm to OHKO. For Frogadier, Kaleidoscope dealt a decent hit with Surf, and I sacked off Natsu… But not without her being dumb and using Quick Attack. Temple finished the job.
• And then we had the Gym itself! There were plenty of trainers to feast on for EXP, but soon the time came for Ramos. As he began with Jumpluff, I opened with Natsu. Acrobatics did a little under 1/3, while my Fire Spin did alright and the residual damage had him near half. I took another Acrobatics, had over 1/3 left, and used Ember to get him to the point where Fire Spin finished him. Gogoat was next, and immediately finished me with Bulldoze. I then brought in Atomic, and took a Take Down for over half and a tad recoil on his end before I used Psyshock and had him near half. I avoided a Take Down and then used Charm. Take Down hit the next turn and finished me and got him below half. I then brought in Supertron, and used Psybeam for a pretty weak hit before he used Bulldoze for 1/7 and a Speed boost with Contrary. I then hit with Hypnosis and used Payback to get him into the red, then he used his Hyper Potion before another Payback got him did 1/3. I then got him below half and he hit and then got him into healing range again before he woke up and used Bulldoze to get me to +2 and 5/7. He used another Hyper Potion as Payback hit for 1/3. Psybeam was pretty weak, but his Bulldoze got me a Speed boost. I hit with Hypnosis and switched in Randori, but he immediately woke up for a Bulldoze that did just under 1/3. He missed with Take Down as I hit with Force Palm. Take Down did over half my remaining health, but Force Palm finished him. Weepinbell was last, but Supertron handled that easily enough by 2HKO'ing it with Psybeam.
• In the Kalos Power Plant, well, there were some strong grunts there, or at least ones that do a good job at confusing me when I try to remember what they use because that's always what I do here. At least Atomic evolved into Duosion along the way. When we got to Pitbull, Kaleidoscope was able to handle his Houndoom no problem. As for his sidekick, I think Randori dealt with her Mightyena or something. But we got the power back on, and met with the masked heroes!
• And some really tall guy. With that, we were free to go to Lumiose City and watch the illumination of the Lumiose Tower. And talked to a few people to get some items, including the Expert Belt. In the Gym itself, I beat a lot of the trainers to get some EXP. But then the time came for Clemont himself!
• This took two tries. First one came down to the wire, but his Emolga immediately scored a critical hit Aerial Ace against Atomic from -2 Attack after I used Light Screen, and was one missed Fire Spin from Natsu away from the win. But nope. It had 1 HP and I was about to lose so I reset. And it certainly didn't help that I inadvertently wasted a Hypnosis from Supertron against Magneton while Electric Terrain was up. This time, I gave the Leftovers to Atomic, who had nothing the first time. As he began with Emolga, I opened with Supertron. He used Volt Switch for over 1/4 and brought in Magneton, as I used Payback, which hit for 1/5. I used it again as he then got in the Electric Terrain. I then scored a critical hit, which got him into the red, before Thunderbolt got the OHKO. Natsu was up next as he used his Hyper Potion, and Ember did narrowly over half and got the 2HKO, the second being a critical hit that may or may not have mattered. Heliolisk was next, and I let Kaleidoscope get sacked before the Electric Terrain wore off. Randori came out next and lived a Thunderbolt with under 1/3 before High Jump Kick got the OHKO. And Natsu grew to Level 36. Emolga was last and finished me with Aerial Ace. I brought in Temple, who was somehow slower than Emolga and took over 2/3 from Volt Switch before I got in the Reflect and was then finished. I brought in Atomic, and Volt Switch did 2/3 before I used Light Screen, and Leftovers propped me up to 2/3. I decided to go straight for Psyshock, after an Aerial Ace for 22 HP. With half my health remaining, I took another Aerial Ace and finished him with Psyshock for the win. And as a bonus, Natsu evolved into Delphox!
• So with that, I got the Voltage Badge and TM24 for Thunderbolt, which I immediately taught to Kaleidoscope. I then learned about some old story with Lysandre, and was buzzed by Trevor to come to Route 14.

Ultimate Dragon Monotype in Pokémon Heart Gold

FINAL PART

I stopped TR easily with the new movesets. There really isn't much to say about this part as it was really straightforward. Grunts aren't really challenging with their weak Rattata and Zubat. Right after that I challenged Pryce and I was really afraid of this battle. But my team was faster, so I had small advantage. New moveset really shined here and I had super effective hits against most of his team. And so 7th Badge is mine.

Last Gym Leader - Clair, called herself "Dragon master". I would like a word with her about that title. She isn't fit to be a master, she a woman (sorry for the bad joke). And so I challenged her. And lost to her Kingdra. It took me another 2 attempts and a lot of luck to finally beat her. But with her demise I can finally use Whirlpool and farm Dragon Scale to evolve Misty into mighty Kingdra. It didn't even took that long to be honest.

There really isn't anything interesting that happened after that. I caught Ho-Oh as part of the story, grinded until Mythbuster evolved to Dragonite, because I couldn't be Dragon master with only Dragonair and challenged the E4. I beat Will mostly thanks to my awesome moveset as I had nothing against pure Psychic-types. Same with Koga. His Muk had no chance surviving Mythbuster's Dragon Rush. Bruno was finally someone I couldn't just beat by randomly mashing the buttons, but I had to use Dragon Dance and level advantage to beat him. I don't remember fight with Karen as I was already beating Lance in my mind. I know her Umbreon tanked one attack, but then it was just quick battle.

I've started running out of PP at this point, so I used 2 Max Elixirs that I found during the game. And final battle? Let's just say Lance is a disgrace to us, Dragon masters. His team only has 50% of Dragons, while mine has 100%. And just by this fact I'm better Dragon master. He admitted his defeated and I finished the game.

And with that second part of my Ultimate Dragon Monotype is done. I decided to switch Hoenn game to Emerald as there are both Juan and Wallace with more Ice-type moves than Steven. I'll also hack in Bagon as starter as it's obtainable really late in game and I would love to use all 3 new Dragon-types in Hoenn.

I think that the last time I actually played a Pokémon game was back when I made this account and haven't played one since x) It should be interesting to playthrough again the first Pokémon game I finished :D

X Psychic Monotype - Update #4

• I eventually made way to Route 14, not as quickly as Trevor claimed (four days). After comparing our Pokedexes with Trevor, it was Serena's turn! Meowstic was first up and dealt a light Fake Out to Supertron, and took Rocky Helmet damage. After a weak Disarming Voice, Payback easily took care of it. Absol was next and I let Atomic get sacked. (She scored a critical hit Slash from 4/5.) Randori took 2/3 from another critical hit Slash, but High Jump Kick got the OHKO. And Supertron grew to Level 35. Greninja was last, and she used… Quick Attack?! No matter, High Jump Kick OHKO'd for the win and got Randori to Level 36. "I'm getting tired of losing every time…" Maybe don't be an idiot with weak moves, then?! Shauna was right behind and commented on how "intense" it was. Well, not as much as it could have been!
• As for the trainers on Route 14, most of them were easy enough. It was raining, which helped Kaleidoscope's Surf. But one of them had a male Fraxure with Rivalry, Dragon Dance and Taunt, which was a real nail-biter and then… "The opposing Fraxure used False Swipe!" And then it wasn't. Pokemon AI sometimes.
• At the end of the route, I heard some random story about a horde of faceless men. Then we went from there to Laverre City!
• I went back and caught myself a Zubat that I named Servant, just to have Fly. And I grabbed a few TMs I missed like Poison Jab and Safeguard.
• We then took to the Laverre Gym! These trainers were actually pretty tough, including an Azumarill that took much more effort to beat than it should have. After the third trainer, who had a Granbull that scored multiple critical hits, Randori evolved into Medicham, which was pretty awesome. The fourth trainer was the easiest, as she had a Slurpuff that kept using Energy Ball even after Temple set up Light Screen. Atomic handled her.
• As she began the battle with Mawile, I opened with Supertron. I used a weak Psybeam, as she went for Iron Defense. I used another and she was out about 1/3, then used another Psybeam before she used Crunch, which scored a critical hit for 3/8 and Rocky Helmet got her near half. Another Psybeam and another Crunch + Rocky Helmet had her in healing range and me at 3/8. She healed, and I used Hypnosis, which succeeded. I then used Topsy-Turvy to mess with her boost, then used Randori and bounced her with High Jump Kick, which got Supertron to Level 36. Mr. Mime came after, and as she used Reflect, Poison Jab still did a little bit over half and got the poisoning. Dazzling Gleam got the OHKO, unfortunately. I brought in Kaleidoscope, and as she used her second Hyper Potion, Surf immediately scored a critical hit and poison damage had her in the red, allowing me to finish her with another hit and get Kaleidoscope to Level 37. Sylveon was last, and I decided to give it a light Surf for around 1/4 before Dazzling Gleam hit for over half and her Reflect wore off. I switched out for Natsu, who took a Dazzling Gleam and took it from there with ease thanks to Psyshock.
• With that, I got the Fairy Badge and TM99 for Dazzling Gleam, which is cool. Afterwards, Serena and Shauna suggested us go to the Poke Ball Factory. I did so, and of course, Team Flare was there. None of the grunts were tough, and the first admin was easy stuff with Kaleidoscope being able to OHKO her Houndoom with a Wave Incense boosted Surf.
• But then we had Celosia and Bryony, and Serena was ready to tag with me! As Manectric went at Atomic with Bite for some under half, and Meowstic was met with Taunt from Liepard, Serena wasn't able to get off her Light Screen, but I was. Manectric then hit Serena for a big hit, and a flinch, and Liepard finished me with Assurance. I brought in Natsu, but still took over half from Liepard as Meowstic took another hit from Manectric. Disarming Voice and Mystical Fire weren't enough to down the Liepard, so I switched in Supertron before Meowstic was finished. Supertron took under 1/3 from Assurance before the Rocky Helmet finished Liepard and Serena brought in an Absol. Which used Quick Attack, but was dealt a crit AND paralysis Thunder Fang for over half. I put Manectric to sleep before the Light Screen wore off, though. I switched in Kaleidoscope as it snoozed, and Absol's crit Slash got her in prime position for a finishing with Surf. After the president gave me both a Big Nugget and a Master Ball, the group gathered together once again, and we planned our next course of action.
• Going through Route 15, I dealt with some trainers, but things got a little scary when I accidentally ran into one Pokemon Ranger with a Swoobat right after my team was weakened following a Gabite.
• Once I arrived in Dendemille Town, after healing up and getting some Moomoo Milk, we learned about Xerneas from Sycamore and Dexio, and then used the Move Reminder to get Zen Headbutt and Superpower for Randori and Supertron respectively. However, I only had two Heart Scales, so that was all I could get at the moment. I went back to Cyllage City to get some more.
• Neither the Lost Hotel nor Route 16 had much in the way of tough trainers, but along the way, Atomic evolved into Reuniclus! Then we got to Frost Cavern. As far as that went, we had an Ace Trainer early on who dealt two undeserved critical hits (one from his Marowak's Thrash that left Randori at 1 HP, and one from his Golduck that OHKO'd Atomic from -2). There wasn't too much else, though one Battle Girl with a Sawk did give an inconvenience to Supertron with Poison Jab's poisoning. The double battle was easy work. Team Flare was simple stuff, too (Mable's Houndoom was OHKO'd with Kaleidoscope's Hydro Pump). With that, they left, and I was free to go about.
• It didn't take long to get from there to Anistar City, where Serena was awaiting a battle with me. It was on! As she began with Meowstic, I used Supertron and took a light Fake Out, which Leftovers almost fully healed up. Shadow Ball did 1/4 before Leftovers, and Thief did over half. I had a little over half and +1 Sp Def thanks to Shadow Ball before finishing her. Flareon took under half from Psycho Cut, and Bite wasn't strong either, but she used Quick Attack and was beaten rather handily. I had over 1/3 left before Greninja came out, and Superpower got her low, but she finished me. I brought in Randori, took two hits of Water Shuriken with ease, and finished her. Absol followed suit.
• I also did a bit of side stuff and got some items before entering the Gym. Not a whole lot to say about those trainers, and soon we got to the Gym Leader.
• As she began with Sigilyph, I opened with Kaleidoscope, and missed with Thunder before she set up Light Screen. I hit a second time though for around 1/3 and paralyzed her before she used Reflect. I used Thunder once again and kept her near healing range before her Air Slash did slightly under half. I used Recover and took another Air Slash for narrowly under half. I used Recover again, and she got fully paralyzed before the Light Screen wore off, allowing me to finish her with Surf before the Reflect wore off. Meowstic was next, and used Fake Out for a weak hit. Hydro Pump did over half before she used Calm Mind. I used it again, and she was left with 1 HP before Shadow Ball KO'd. I brought in Supertron, and as she healed, Thief did over half and she did under half with Shadow Ball, and gifted me a Sp Def boost, before Thief KO'd. Slowking folded from there.
• After getting the Psychic Badge and TM04 for Calm Mind, we received a warning from Lysandre, who was really angry and mad and wanted to destroy the world. We had to chase after him to Magenta Café! After dealing with his idiot cohorts, we had to face Lysandre himself.
• As he began with Mienfoo, I opened with Atomic, and he used Swords Dance, but that was for nothing as I demolished him with Psyshock. And Atomic grew to Level 43. Murkrow was next. I tried to stay in, and took a Foul Play for over half, went for Thunder, aaaaand… Nope. No Quick Claw, either, and Atomic was finished. I brought in Randori, and he was unfortunately faster and took an Aerial Ace to be knocked into the red, but Ice Punch OHKO'd. Gyarados was next, and I switched Temple into an Aqua Tail that did over 2/3, then I used Reflect and took an…Iron Head? I narrowly lived, and used an Air Slash for an okay hit before Aqua Tail finished me. Kaleidoscope finished him with Thunderbolt. Pyroar was last, and faster, and hit hard with Dark Pulse, but Surf OHKO'd for the win.
• The grunts had some annoyances like you'd expect from some Psychic-types, but eventually we made it down to the basement, where Lysandre and Xerosic were, the latter of who challenged me. Temple handled Crobat with ease, but I sacked Natsu (after dealing half with Flamethrower) against Malamar, and then used my mirror-match to finish him. I then pressed the red button, and the ultimate weapon sprung in Geosenge.
• We followed them there, and there was some stuff to be done. Serena was right behind, and we entered Team Flare's Secret HQ, where Lysandre was once more, ready for, after some failed attempts at melodrama, another battle.
• As he began with Mienshao, I opened with Atomic. I got the Quick Claw, and used Charm to cut his Attack… And he missed with High Jump Kick anyways, and took half his health in recoil. Lmfao. Acrobatics hit for under 1/4 before Psyshock finished him and got Atomic to Level 45. Pyroar was next, and used Dark Pulse for over half my remaining health. Thunder did less than half his, but got the paralysis. Psyshock got him into the red… But he was fully paralyzed! Psyshock finished him. Honchkrow was next, and used Aerial Ace to finish me. I brought in Natsu, and Flamethrower did narrowly over half as Night Slash almost OHKO'd. Flamethrower finished him and got Natsu to Level 46. Gyarados was next, and after Intimidate, I used Psybeam in the hopes of confusing him… And it did! But he hit through with Aqua Tail anyway. Kaleidoscope finished him with Thunderbolt for the win.
• But then we had some grunts to wade through. Some of which were actually rather tough. At least they gave some good EXP, and as we made our way into the final depths of the HQ, we encountered Xerneas and made our way through some more grunts for the right to battle it!
• Xerneas proved a little tough to catch thanks to my Quick Ball failing, but I eventually got it. Lysandre didn't like that, though, and was ready to take it back from me!
• As he began with Mienshao, I opened with Atomic. The Quick Claw triggered, and Psyshock got the OHKO, which is pretty sweet. Pyroar was next, and I unfortunately found myself sacking off Supertron to a Dark Pulse for over 1/3 then Fire Blast. I brought in Kaleidoscope, and went for Surf hoping for the OHKO… Which it did. Honchkrow was next, and Thunderbolt…left him with 1 HP!!! Night Slash got the OHKO. I brought in Temple, and Air Slash picked him off. Gyarados was last, and got off a pointless Intimidate. I had to stay in, and used Thunder Wave to paralyze it… But Aqua Tail OHKO'd with a critical hit that probably mattered. I brought in Natsu next, and Flamethrower didn't do much at all, but Aqua Tail missed. I dealt another hit and had him at around 4/5 or so before Aqua Tail finished me. I brought in Atomic and used Charm, but he hit with Aqua Tail and still did almost half. I used another Charm, and he hit once again, leaving me just over 1/4. I used Recover, and he hit once more and left me barely below half. I used Recover again and was then left out 1/3. And then over 1/4. And then a bit under 1/3. I was then healed to full before he was dealt a completely deserved full paralysis. I then switched in Randori… And was OHKO'd with a critical hit, leaving me with just Atomic once again. I would say it was undeserved, but Atomic did get the Quick Claw to open the battle, so hey, give and take I guess? Anyway, Thunder did around half his remaining health, and Earthquake didn't do much to me. Thunder finished him for the win, and got Atomic to Level 47.
• Lysandre wasn't having it, though, and tried to fire off the ultimate weapon, but we escaped its grasp. Sina and Dexio had destroyed the device spying on our Holo Casters, and after some talk from Serena, we encountered AZ once again, trying to find the eternal Pokemon. Well, we had to continue our adventure!

Thought I needed to update so I am.
With my second gym badge in the bag and my team of Poinsettia the Ivysaur, Arsenic the Nidorina and Hemotoxin the Zubat I am moving on to getting my third gym badge and hopefully my 4th member of the team.

whenever i beat a game for the first time, my brain goes into challenge/masochist mode whenever i think about playing it again, and what better way to appease that side of my mind than my first monotype run. i chose Ultra Moon simply because it's one of the few pokemon games i still own, and it's been awhile since i last played a pokemon game. a fun twist would be just the thing to get me pumped for Sword and Shield, and it's also my first pokemon challenge, so if this goes well, i might indulge in some more of these.
