I bet they'll release older Pokémon games for GB/C/A a la virtual console then. Who knows, maybe if you have those, DPP will be able to pick them up from the SD card as if it were the GBA slot.
The only part of this that is really worth writing home for IMO is the "DSiWare" news. Serebii speculated that we could be looking at Gameboy VC titles, and I tend to second that thought. Think about it, we have three prices: 200, 500, and 800 (and 0, but that's not important here). 200 for classic Game Boy, 500 for GBC, and 800 for some GBA, perhaps? If that actually happens, then we could even be seeing the old Pokemon games revived here, since it could connect to D/P/P from inside the same system. They would just have to edit the old games to be compatible, sort of like what they did with Pokemon Snap on the Virtual Console.
...Egh, that didn't come out right. I guess I'll have to translate later.
You just translated it for me, Lightning. :)
Look, we know that the DSi will be getting its own version of the Shop Channel, and we know the prices. Looking at the prices of current VC games, these match up nicely to what GB/GBC/GBA games would be priced at if they were to be released. Considering that this is a handheld, as well, the premise of finding a GB VC for the system isn't exactly far out there. So, on that, we could be seeing Gold, Silver, and Crystal released for such, only with stats and everything edited so that the Pokemon are compatible with D/P/P's EV system and everything (hey, they did it with Pokemon Snap to make it compatible with the Wii Message Board, so why not?). Then, as Lightning mentioned, we have them compatible with the DS games so that we can transfer the Pokemon over. It could also be evidence for seeing the Stadium games come out on the Wii VC, with the same compatibility.
Of course, the other features of the DSi (camera, internet browser, multimedia player) are nothing exactly special here. ...You know, come to think of it, Nintendo is just trying to replicate the success of the Nintendo Wii in their new handheld (as if they needed to). Think about it: we have a new system relying on pre-packaged abilities, a downloadable internet browser, and an already-existing game base for initial sales, not to mention the obvious VC copy. They're just taking the Nintendo Wii and applying its "special" features to the DS, which I guess has a certain logic to it.
