kind of an awkward middle evolution for me. I like machamp but i would never want a machoke i couldn't trade.

Yeah, little Machop looks more endearing and more extraterrestial-like with the tail, and Machamp at least has 4 arms like Shiva to set it apart. Machoke I think is the least interesting of the two, and not as great to use as it's final form.
