Game Freak doesn't have to go that far. Fire/Water is weak to Earthquake, one of the most common moves in competitive play.

Fire/Water gives you access to great coverage that covers most weaknesses. Weak to ground? You have STAB water moves. Weak to grass? You have STAB fire moves. Only true weakness/hard counter would be electric. Game Freak might overcompensate.

My first choice for gen 7 and my starter for Sun. I love rowlet, but I got differing opinions for its final evolution.

The hair and bow tie of Dartrix definitely look like Rowlet is entering a prestige high school of owls. Maybe that is where this line picked up archery. Sounds pretentious and too specific but that is what I get from this mid stage.

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it evolves into Hisuian Decidueye. Outside of that, it evolves into regular Decidueye.
