The Pyromancers: Fire-type Pokémon Club

Personally, I'd love it if Groudon's primal form had some ability that would make it endure water hits more; it's four-times effective against water-types, which is Kyogre, and that would cause it to look inferior. They need to avoid that in all costs.

That is so true. The first thing that comes to mind is Filter, but 25% on a 4x weakness isn't going to do much. It needs something a little stronger, like an ability that reduces the power of Water-type attacks by 50% to put it back on a level playing field. Anyone have any other ideas?

Sunny day can be used to weaken water moves, he can always have solid rock as an ability, make him hold a berry to weaken fire moves, or let him keep Drought. There might be more solutions but for now, give Groudon a lot of zinc and iron.

I agree, the Primal forms are great. I hope Rayquaza gets one too, completing the trio, but I guess since it isn't battling, it probably wouldn't happen.

Also, I imagine Groudon would keep Drought. It would give it a slight advantage when dealing with Water-types because of weakening their moves and also instant Solarbeam.

If that's indeed the case, then keeping Drought would definitely make sense. As for Rayquaza, if other two of the trio are getting primal forms, I suppose this would get one, too, to make it all seem balanced and such.

I think it will for balancing sake. I posed the question as a topic in the Dragon-type club so if you want you can discuss it there since that's the appropriate place for it.

Onto another Fire-type topic...

What are your thoughts about Flannery in the remake?

Kind of an open-ended topic. What do you expect? Are you excited or dreading it? Do you expect any major changes to her team or will it be the same?

All characters are getting an overhaul appearance-wise, and she won't definitely be an exception. I personally like her former design, though, so hope they don't many any significant amount of changes to her. As far as her team goes, I could definitely see it being different. Many new fire-type Pokémon have been introduced after generation three, so she has much wider range of selection now.

I think it would be a big mistake for them to change her appearance too much because many people do like it a lot. They seem to be doing that as a norm though, so hopefully it turns out good. The only thing about having new Pokémon is that in past remakes other Gym Leaders haven't had new Pokémon in their parties until rematches, which I expect to stay the same in this game. She may have some different ones, but I doubt they'd come after Gen III. Who knows, they could break the rules here (considering they make them in the first place :P ).

Well, if this is how it's been for all remakes, then they probably won't. Though, we could definitely expect her to get new set of Pokémon if we battle Flannery again later throughout the game, just like you said, haha.

I don't think it's gonna happen, I don't think it would fit. Although, I personally think they could've had more Fire-types in Hoenn though, it's much less likely right now that I'm going to be using a Fire-type because I'm not picking Torchic (thank you X and Y Blaziken).

I'm on the same boat; I don't really think they would actually do that. Introducing new primal and mega forms is acceptable in some way, but new Pokémon all together is a completely different story.

Mega Camerupt

The only thing about new Pokémon is that this is a big change from the past Pokémon games, so that tips me a little more towards thinking they could, but I still say no because it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

Mega-Camerupt would be awesome (though, I feel like I've said this already once before, haha). I wouldn't mind a Mega-Typhlosion, either. It's not native to Hoenn, I understand, but it's still popular among fans nonetheless, and people would definitely appreciate seeing it get some mega form.

Unless they plan to remake all of the regions, and risk people not buying the games, it would be a good idea to put evolutions stones end-game that work on the remaining starters.

I could see Professor Birch pulling a X/Y trick and giving us an extra starter, complete with mega stone. Wait.. event Torchic made me forget that X/Y starters didn't get stones... :(
