This has been something I've been seeing for a long time now, and that's shiny hunting. Whether it be through things like Pokeradar in both X/Y and D/P, or Masuda Method eggs.

How seriously do you take your shinies, and trying to find them? Do you not give a moment's thought into them, or do you treat them as really important? What are your opinions on shiny hunters/hunting? Those who go all out in trying to find them. Discuss, and be sure to vote~!

oh, by the 3rd option, I mean that you'd prefer random encounters or something along those lines.

Most of the time, I encounter shinies by luck. I don't really spend much time or effort into finding them myself, as it just doesn't give you the same feeling. xD;; At the moment, I have about 14 shiny Pokémon in Y. Ran into 9 of them on random, and rest were given to me by friends.

I want shinies but I don't want to spend the time. XD

I have never gotten a legit shiny. The ones I did get were either hacked or traded to me from people I don't know.

I hope someday I'll get a shiny. I feel that the random encounters are more valuable than finding them through certain methods such as the ones introduced in X and Y. Those are still special to me of course but I find the random encounters more special since they're pretty rare. Hacked shinies are definitely not valuable to me. XD

I'll only bother with hatching a Masuda Method shiny if: a) I'd use that pokémon in a competitive team anyways and b) I really love that pokémon's shiny color scheme.

Whenever I see a random shiny in the wild, I'll catch it and use it as bait to get a legendary off of the GTS.

I don't have the time and patience to look for a shiny. I've had a couple random encounters, but I've never attempted to try and get one. I'm sure it's a great feeling when you actually get one. But, the idea of me spending countless hours looking for a Pokemon with a different color scheme just isn't worth it.

+I only use Emulators. It seems pointless to search for one so exstensively if I don't get hard copy prove of it. I can't really do anything with it, but take a screenshot and show the world my picture. It's just not worth it.

I'm not really that dedicated to shiny collecting, and aside from an orange flower Flabebe I snapped up in a Pokeradar chain in X, most of the shinies I caught in every game I played were just random encounters.

I always feel like there's that moment you feel proud for obtaining such a special Pokemon.

I'd like to hunt for them but I procrastinate on that idea, I'm too busy completing the PokeDex with what little time I have to play video games these days. I will eventually shiny hunt though...

Somewhere between the 2nd and 4th option. I'm not completely set on them, but I do collect a bunch of them. A whole heap are from trades, and I've also chained a number myself via the Pokéradar.

I also have my fair share from dumb luck (random encounters). =) But generally I quite like having a collection of them as quite a few I think look rather nice.

I think my interest in shinies is finally starting to wane a little. I have quite a lot, a couple from Masuda, a ton from trades, and a lot of random encounters. I've actually got like three each of shiny Whismur, Foongus, and Wingull because I've done so many horde battles. And these days I'm getting more into nicknaming my Pokemon for some reason, so I'll breed them myself (and they usually turn out non-shiny), instead of getting perfect shinies from trades where I can't nickname them. So I've pretty much stopped hunting altogether.

I used to hunt for them and discuss my failures in the shiny hunters clubs. I would find shinies by either Pokeradar chaining, soft resetting, or dumb luck through a random encounter. I really wanted a shiny Cresselia in the 4th gen, but soft resetting for a roamer was quite cumbersome. At one point, I operated several handhelds to dual hunt, haha. Recently though, I will get my shinies through trading, RNG abusing, or Shiny Value trick since I desire competitive shinies.

I've spent some time hunting them and bred a few using the Masuda Method.
I definitely find a certain thrill every time I come across one, whether in the wild or breeding. I have quite a few I've traded for as well and I don't find those ones to be anywhere near as special.

I don't bother hunting for them, as I've never even encountered a shiny. In all my years of playing, still no luck...

I do like shinies, but I don't really bother hunting for them. I've been getting really good foreign parents from WT though, so I'm almost always doing the Masuda Method when I'm breeding, even if I'm not particularly interested in that Pokemon's shiny coloration. I got a shiny Helioptile that way, before hitting my ideal IVs. I did try breeding a shiny Petilil for a friend, but I've put that on hiatus after 13 boxes of regular Petilil.

I've also tried my hand at chain fishing, it's really easy and I got three shinies that way too, though the shiny Corsola came up on my second or third nibble, so I kinda see it as a random encounter.

I don't hunt or breed for them specifically, and I don't use any exploits or anything. To me, most of the charm of shinies is that they just appear from time to time. I like that.

I spend a LOT of time in the games, so I catch a fair number of them just by chance. That's enough.

I'm not a shiny hunter but I think the luck is on my side since I always encounter them via wild encounter.

Whenever I actually try to get a shiny, I just breed for them. I'm too lazy to learn how to chain and I can control more aspects of the pokemon through breeding. I've managed to hatch a shiny Ralts after 120 eggs, Eevee after about 700, and Poochyenna after 400. Haven't really tried for any others because I'm working on completing a living Pokedex :p

If I want shiny's to trade I fish in X/Y using chain fishing. These usually have bad IV/nature so I the only point is to trade them.

If I want a good shiny I MM them so I can get the right nature and IV. Those are the shiny's with lot's of value to me others I just trade.
