So, there were two points in the game where you would face 5 Team Aqua or Magma grunts at the same time. The first time they would have 5 Poochyenas, and they would have 5 Mightyenas the second time.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Trainer Hordes

Did you like Horde Trainer battles? Would you have changed anything about them, including their frequency in the game? Would you include them in Sun and Moon and future games?

I sure as hell hope they're a thing in Sun & Moon. I actually thought they were a lot more fun than regular trainer battles!

I really liked these as well, especially because they seemed more realistic in the context of battling 5 grunts. Doesn't it make more sense that grunts would try and attack you all at once instead of one at a time? Even in the anime this happens sometimes! I think it fits well in the games and would like them to return when battling other grunts.

Would probably fit in the nature of the new evil team to attack you all at once; I can probably see more Trainer horde battles happening.

Gotta say though, fighting those 5 Mightyena was a pain in the ass. @__@; But that's my own fault because I used Latias/M-Latias and I wanted to destroy all of them with her. 8D

ok well that's your own fault haha I just used Surf from Pelipper or Earthquake from Metagross. They were gone pretty quick :)

also btw I claim this thread for colours and I <3

They do have some potential but I believe its a shame that it was always 5 of the same pokemon (which makes sense since the grunts use nothing else). It makes it easier to wipe out in one go. Or maybe do it that they also have multiple pokemon per grunt, so even if you wipe it out in one go, they send in another team :)

Would be more challenging if the grunts had a variety of pokemon in general :p

Before I loaded into the post, I thought: "That would be a great idea!" And then I read the post and remember that it was implemented already. Wow, I really don't remember ORAS that well. I'd love to see them in future installments as well! It just feels very in character for the evil teams.

I feel like abilities like Intimidate should be tweaked to behave in concert. (so even if you're taking -5x Attk power; you're also getting it in one "animation" where it says "attack dramatically fell")

I was very disappointed by this idea because not only did it get encountered only once, but also the Pokemon were very weak. Such a shame I was sorta hyped for this when a trailer first revealed it, and I was let down badly.

I'd like to see a combination of trainer horde with pseudo-rotation battles be implemented. Choose which direction your Pokemon attack, so one Surf can't take out all of the enemy Pokemon in one hit.

Trainer horde is relatively not engaging if you have an AoE attack on your Pokemon (which most serious players will). Of course, since Ride is coming to town, will Surf and company get the boot?

It happened twice!! They had Mightyenas the second time, and they had Poochyenas the first. :)

I was playing on X and i faced a nosepass horde. these little fuckers were so annoying. i believe my poke could only use normal moves which are NVE against rock type. plus i had no multitarget moves.... even worse... i couldn't switch out coz the used block... >_< and to troll me even further they used harden... the amount of time i wasted trying to kill that stupid horde... >_<

just annoying to kill hordes when they troll u like this...

Always be prepared for the unexpected..the unexpected noses xD
I can't talk for X&Y but in my OR game, I barely encountered pokemon hordes. Maybe a max of five throughout the playthrough (without using sweet scent), so they could really improve the odds of finding a trainer/pokemon horde, especially to troll people like Pukeamon :D.
I do like the fact that using sweet scent makes you encounter a horde, if the road allows for it :)

    Trainer Horde Battles were a fun thing, honestly! Crushing five Poocheyena at once is aways a delightful experience. I do hope they bring this back in S/M, with more interesting mechanics, but we'll see. ;;
