As a kid my parents took us to a hotel one day which had a pool right next to the beach and it created this illusion of being able to swim out of the pool into the ocean (you couldn't actually though, had to go down some steps to get to the beach).

Similarly, I went into an ocean pool. It had lots of depth (enough that I couldn't feel the bottom) and used real salt water. It was an interesting experience. It was connected straight to the ocean, but was blocked by a barricade.
