Do you pronounce the "t" in words like water?

Do you pronounce the "t" in words like water?

Heh, I'm sat here saying words with t in them to myself to try and make myself aware of how I actually do this.

More often than not, I do pronounce them but they come out more as a "d" sound than just being left out altogether; so "water" becomes almost "wader". Sometimes though at the end of words I just leave them out completely, if that makes sense.

If you had an opportunity to change your name to anything else on PC but Razor Leaf, would you take that chance? And what would your new username be?

I don't think I would, honestly. Call me slow but I really don't like when people change their names to totally different things since I tend to forget who's who. On the Server I still have absolutely no idea who I'm talking to on there 90% of the time, haha. And really I don't think I'd be able to pick a name that I like more, or at least can adjust to better, than Razor Leaf. Maybe Unkempt Harold but even that's a stretch. d:

If you became an admin here, what'd be the first thing you'd change? What'd be the first thing you'd look for in the admin forums? Do you think it'd change your outlook on PC?

How have your tastes in music changed over the years? Have they been gradual, and logical, consisting of linear changes branching off into genres similar to music you have already listened to, or have you ever had any sharp or drastic changes, where you heard something completely new to you, and it totally took your music listening in a new direction?

Who's your favorite Borderlands character to play as? Which one is your favorite personality-wise? I love Salvador on both accounts. I can really raise some hell while throwing out some classic one liners at the same time.

Do you have a favorite Pokemon Type?

fffff sorry guys. Been really busy lately, haha, but I should be pretty good for activity for a while now.

If you became an admin here, what'd be the first thing you'd change? What'd be the first thing you'd look for in the admin forums? Do you think it'd change your outlook on PC?

That's a tough one. Sure there's stuff that I'd like to change if I somehow magically had the resources to do so (such as fixing the lag and whatnot) but obviously I can't do that so those sorts of things I'll just leave out. Honestly I can't think of all that much I feel needs changing and if there was something like that I'd try to get it changed as is anyway, but one thing I'd definitely do is tidy up styles a little bit; we have a lot of old and obsolete ones which aren't up-to-date with many of our current features and it's all very awkward and could use some ironing out and whatnot. It's not a very big deal though.

As for what I'd look for in the admin forums... my promotion thread would probably be the first thing I'd go read, as it was when I was smodded, and from then on I'd mostly just look through smod-related threads; see what sorts of things we generally do wrong and whatnot. I guess there'd be no harm looking at the threads related to the technical side of PC too although they'd probably not mean very much to me, haha.

As for my outlook on PC, I doubt it'd change. It'd be interesting to see what admins get up to I guess but from what I can gather it's not a position dramatically different to that of super moderator (i.e. most stuff is shared between smods and admins, we have the same influence when voting, etc). I guess I might not know the whole story and it may have some sort of impact on what I see in PC, but I don't see why my outlook would change.

How have your tastes in music changed over the years? Have they been gradual, and logical, consisting of linear changes branching off into genres similar to music you have already listened to, or have you ever had any sharp or drastic changes, where you heard something completely new to you, and it totally took your music listening in a new direction?

Changes in my music taste have been very dramatic and non-linear, haha. One day I'll be listening to something and absolutely loving it and the next day I'll be listening to something totally different and enjoying it just as much. As such, I'd not say I've any well-defined preference for music. I often hear stuff totally different to what I was previously into and explore that general area in music a little bit before veering off into a totally new area again when the opportunity comes up, the most recent example I can think of being from Kanye West straight into The Tallest Man On Earth (and amusingly resulting from that, Bon Iver who happened to feature in a few of Kanye's releases).

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

I have no idea. Probably in some sort of job related to my degree in some way but... honestly, 20 years is such a long time to think ahead and I don't even like thinking ahead like that. I'm not the kinda guy to set goals in life or think "I want to be in x place after y number of years". I find that kinda restricting and pressuring. I don't even wanna picture myself settling down with someone, getting my own place, living in any particular country, whatever. It's not something I can ever be sure enough on to say that I see myself there.

Do you think you Pokemon will still be going by then?

No. I genuinely feel like at that stage the games will have become too hard to differentiate from each other and will have lost too much speed to continue being viable and I think that when the games die the rest of the franchise will be quick to follow. I'd be happy to be proved wrong in 20 years' time, though! d:

Who's your favorite Borderlands character to play as? Which one is your favorite personality-wise? I love Salvador on both accounts. I can really raise some hell while throwing out some classic one liners at the same time.

As far as playable characters go, Zer0. In most games I'd hate him but I love the fact that in Borderlands they're well aware of how overly seriously he takes himself and how stupid his whole 'strong, silent' persona would normally seem to a player. It just makes him so much more unique and interesting than your generic assassin-ish character, despite filling that description pretty well. It's hard to explain haha. For the sake of throwing in non-playable characters, Scooter is probably my favourite character in any video game ever, although I do have a lot of love for Claptrap too. Hell, a load of Borderlands characters! I feel the NPCs are all really distinct and interesting and yeah, it's great.

Do you have a favorite Pokemon Type?

I like a lot of the types and have changing favourites but I always find myself ending up at Water again. No idea why! I've just always liked them and iirc the first Pokémon I ever used in a game (a friend's game, this was) is Starmie, obviously a Water type - incidentally, one of my favourite Pokémon today.

If you could change the s-mod color to be any color other than the current orange, what would it be?

No clue haha. I'd leave it to people who can actually ~do~ colour to pick that.

Why are you such a nerd? I mean, calculating how fast it takes Snorlax to get in a Pokéball? Come on Harry, just why?

omg derk asking my kid about colors how could you

SON why do you like biology?

KID why are you good at math?

CHILD what is your favorite meal to eat?

SPAWN why are your friends crazy?

PRODUCT OF MINE what is your dress style like?

Why are you such a nerd? I mean, calculating how fast it takes Snorlax to get in a Pokéball? Come on Harry, just why?

Heh, idk really. I like figuring stuff out and learning stuff and telling people about it and whatever. Not really in an "oh my god GUYS LOOK HOW CLEVER I AM" way but just because I like sharing what I know, haha. I also enjoy challenging myself and putting stuff into some sort of context - for example with that Snorlax example. I guess I just get some sort of enjoyment out of learning stuff and then actually using it for stuff, even if that stuff is particularly pointless. d:

omg derk asking my kid about colors how could you

so very rude imo

SON why do you like biology?

MOTHER idk honestly, haha. I've always liked knowing how stuff works and I guess that living things are particularly interesting. There's nothing for me quite like looking at a living thing and being able to say, "this is happening because [blahblahblah]". Plus eventually I hope that studying biology - particularly my field, medically focussed biochemistry, might actually help some people in the future in one way or another. Certainly that's ambitious but hey - if it's helped someone, it's worth it. So in the end for me I guess I feel like I'm learning something I'm really interested in and eventually there's a chance that what I've learned can be applied to an issue to help make others' lives better. All pretty good imo!

KID why are you good at math?

PARENT I have no idea. I never considered myself particularly talented with maths, but... hey, apparently I am! Maybe it's just a natural thing idk; I always liked figuring stuff out so... maybe it's just years of experience of working things out actually being put to use? I'd not say I'm all that great at it though anyway.

CHILD what is your favorite meal to eat?

ADULT I don't really have one. I'm not a massively foody person haha; if it's cheap and easy to make then it's good enough for me! I have a good amount of stuff I like but yeah, I couldn't really say I have anything in particular which is my favourite meal.

SPAWN why are your friends crazy?

CREATOR I guess I just... attract that kinda person haha. Or at least, I make friends with the 'crazier' people well. Thinking back, many of my really good friends have been like that; and I guess I'm not much better! We all just love going out, messing up, blah blah blah, etc etc etc, generally being irresponsible and living our age. A lot. We probably all quietly influence each other too which really doesn't help us haha. I can think of several times which've been like "I'M GONNA DRINK THIS" "WELL I'M GONNA DRINK MORE" "WELL I'M GONNA TAKE THIS" "WELL I'M GONNA TAKE MORE" and whatnot and yeah... pretty bad in all honestly haha. All good fun though! We're just collectively a fun bunch I guess.

PRODUCT OF MINE what is your dress style like?

MANUFACTURER OF PEOPLE these days, pretty simple. I like to wear something kinda unique but I also find that simple can be unique in itself. Generally, I'll wear it if I think it looks alright and I just go from there. I don't really bother keeping up with style and whatnot nearly as much as I used to; it's really expensive and changes so fast that, for me, I never manage to end up settling down at all. I think I've found a happy medium in just dressing however I feel like without bothering to overcomplicate things.

Aw i feel sad thinking that this community will have to end :(

So what's one place you would want to stay for a month? a year? Would you ever leave Manchester for say, scotland and thei scøticisms

Scotland or ireland. Like, obviously Ireland but what are some reasons? They're both gaelic so they're very similar in that regard.

If Pokémon was to end in 20 years, how would you suggest to change our forum's focus to keep it alive?

How many leafs are there in a Razor Leaf?

Would you teach Lugia Razor Leaf if it was possible?

How do you handle disputes on the forums?

Are you having a nice day?

What are you studying in biochem? I'm doing the same too, but I'm starting to get disillusioned by labs and I don't think I'm going to go into research. Maybe a more specific question is what have you studied in biochem? Your main-ish focus, some interesting courses you've taken. Personally having to learn the details between RNAP I, II and III, and then those of prokaryotes, stupid open trigger loop gah. I got sick of nucleic acids in a very short amount of time. And I'm not particularly interested in cell signalling either - it's a fundamental so I have to understand it well but I don't fancy it much. I think I love metabolism and enzymes and their structures a lot lot more.

How do you manage drinking and studying?

Do you have a second major? Is there something else that comes to a close second to biochemistry - that you'd study had you the time/opportunity?

Do you like/have you tried soju or sake? XD

How's working out coming along?

You know what? You should help me study. =D

Thoughts on the new fairy typing in pokemon?

I made a tl;dr about it somewhere but PC is lagging right now so I'll just summarise - I don't really like it, haha. I feel it only exists as a check for Dragon types and it's not something you can really categorise specific Pokémon into so I feel it'll just end up a collection of 'cute' things beating up Garchomp. Grand.

So what's one place you would want to stay for a month? a year? Would you ever leave Manchester for say, scotland and thei scøticisms

I'd happily leave Manchester for somewhere else for a while, but probably not to live. Just about anywhere really; it's not so much that I don't like Manchester (indeed, I love the place) but I just wanna have some new experiences, yanno? Live somewhere else where they do things differently, meet some new people, get used to new things, etc. It'd be fun!

Scotland or ireland. Like, obviously Ireland but what are some reasons? They're both gaelic so they're very similar in that regard.

Ireland's home and Scotland isn't, haha. Although I am part Scottish I don't really feel much of a connection to the place and I've never lived there. And yeah, I guess they're similar in that one way, but... they're still completely different countries. Both of them lovely though - I think I remember visiting Scotland once and it was awesome.

If Pokémon was to end in 20 years, how would you suggest to change our forum's focus to keep it alive?

I don't think this place would die with Pokémon (then again, I don't think it'll be alive itself at such a time, haha) mainly because one of the big things which keeps people coming are the ROM hacks. As far as I'm aware, we're one of the best sites (if not the best?) for that sort of thing and I think people would want to keep playing them. Even if Pokémon did end anyway, we'd still have some things to discuss about it. It's not like this place's activity fizzles out when we're not getting news on new games.

How many leafs are there in a Razor Leaf?

42.

Would you teach Lugia Razor Leaf if it was possible?

Nah. It's one of my favourite moves but it's by no means a great one. Tho I guess I might just for ****s and giggles, haha. It'd be quite fun having a legendary with moves like that.

...omg now I wanna make a legendary team with totally crap movesets. >_>

How do you handle disputes on the forums?

I think this is a really hard question to answer because nearly everything's case-by-case and staff-level disputes are handled differently to member-level disputes. And then we all look at situations differently and blahblahblah etc. Basically, everything's done on a case-by-case basis and this isn't a question I can really answer.

Are you having a nice day?

I'm feeling kinda groggy and somewhat hungover. But in any case, yes, it's a fine day! In a bit I'm gonna go out and just chill with some friends which'll be nice. That's what I've spent much of my time doing lately, actually.

What are you studying in biochem? I'm doing the same too, but I'm starting to get disillusioned by labs and I don't think I'm going to go into research. Maybe a more specific question is what have you studied in biochem? Your main-ish focus, some interesting courses you've taken. I think I love metabolism and enzymes and their structures a lot lot more.

Haha, I touched on that a wee bit, but not in massive detail, in my molecular genetics module earlier this year. Such a *****.

In terms of what I'm studying right now, nothing. I'm done with uni until September, about to move onto my second year of study. You can read through my course's structure here to get a rather broad idea of what I've studied and what I am able to study in the coming years. Much of the first year was fairly general stuff building on previous study so there's not a massive amount to say on it since not much of it is massively relevant but naturally I enjoyed the biochemistry and chemistry modules the most. I actually enjoy the chemistry side of things way more than I thought I would which is weird since I always considered myself more a biologist. The straight-up biochemistry unit was full of the stuff I like, though - which is mostly proteins.

For stuff I generally enjoy, I'm in the same boat as you in that I find enzymes and general proteins and their structures pretty interesting but I actually quite liked what little I've done around cell signalling (weirdly, I don't do a module in that until third year). Honestly I enjoy most things that go on at the cellular level, cop-out of an answer as that sounds.

edit: actually, I had a group project set this year which was really interesting. It was all about how bacteria could be genetically modified to help produce antibiotics. We were given an example (fake) antibiotic structure and basically told to suggest how it could be made using GM bacteria in as much detail as possible - from how the GM would happen to which genes would need changing and how, which restriction enzymes would be used, how efficient the whole process was, etc. Of course, we weren't required to actually practically do this ourselves so it was basically a giant secondary research and theory project, but interesting nonetheless.

How do you manage drinking and studying?

Study in the day, drink at night. Simple! Seriously though, I'm not totally sure, but it's a kind of balance that many students are able to eventually find. University is as much about the social life as it is the academic life so honestly, unless you abstain totally from drinking, not being able to manage the two is pretty unheard of. Sometimes your studying takes a knock for drinking, sometimes your drinking takes a knock for studying, but usually you can actually find the time to fit the two of them in.

I imagine, though, you're referring to my... rather liberal drinking habits, haha. I admit that they can sometimes get somewhat intrusive and there are times where I know I should be studying rather than drinking, but... eh. I'm sure many of us have times where we play video games, watch films or TV, etc. when we know we should be studying. My equivalent for that would be pub sessions. It's normal enough, just a different activity.

Do you have a second major? Is there something else that comes to a close second to biochemistry - that you'd study had you the time/opportunity?

We don't have majors and minors in this country. Or at least, they're uncommon. Most people prefer to just specialise in what they want to learn most. Although a lot of places do offer optional units from other studies for interest's sake; I was considering taking a physics one this year but never actually got round to it.

Do you like/have you tried soju or sake? XD

I've heard of sake but never tried it. Needless to say, I've not tried soju either. d:

How's working out coming along?

Not bad! I've been pretty busy lately so not had all the time in the world to do it, but I've made a start. I do actually intend to reply to the thread where I asked for help with that at some stage but it keeps slipping my mind and my PC list of things to do is long enough as it is. But I do appreciate the help in any case! I just need to keep slowly stepping up how much I'm doing but for reasons you're aware of it's not hugely easy, haha.

You know what? You should help me study. =D

OKAY. 8D

You know what? Your program is super interesting. All the physiology stuff is 2nd year, and all the hardcore biochem, cellular stuff is 3rd year. I notice that you don't have to take organic chem? It's really nice that you have data entry and writing though, my program is just bombardment with information.

Now for questions:

Canada or America? We just had our National Days within 3 of each other.

What kind of "ethnic" food do you like?

The majoity of the organic chem stuff was probably contained in the two big chemistry units I did this year and I imagine there'll be a wee bit dotted around later on but not loads. And I think that's good too; the university is really geared towards research so they like giving people some useful skills for that to break up the rest of it, which works just fine for me since I feel like that's the way I'm heading.

Canada or America? We just had our National Days within 3 of each other.

I've never been to either and I don't really know many differences between them, but probably Canada. Simply because it's a place I know less about, haha. I'd usually prefer to visit somewhere that I don't know stuff about than somewhere I do. New experiences, figuring stuff out for yourself, all that good stuff yanno?

What kind of "ethnic" food do you like?

Does that mean like... Chinese food and stuff? 8D I like Chinese food! And Japanese and Thai for that matter. Also, weirdly, I had Vietnamese once in this place in London and fffff it was absolutely incredible. But I've never had it since so idk if just that place was really good.

Did you know an anagram for your name could be "A Razor Elf"? Pretty sharp, no?

If you one day woke up as a girl, what would be the first thing you'd do?

What would you do if one of your arm was bigger and longer than the other?

Would you like to do the splits?
