Everytime you walk into a charity shop/thrift store you're always going to find used clothes.
Everyone has clothes and when you're done with them you will most likely give them to a charity shop/thrift store.

Personally I only buy used button-up shirts because I like that vintage look.

But I would never buy anything else, anything below the waist is a no go.

What are your opinions on used clothes? Would you buy them for yourself and would you buy anything below the waist?

I usually only buy shorts or things to exersize in. I don't see what's so bad about buying them. I was them first, so I know their cleaned

I won't buy used underwear (ew), but I buy almost all my other clothes used--shirts, pants, even belts and swimsuit tops (not bottoms, though I did look for a pair of trunks to wear over my bottoms). Which would you rather pay: $30+ for a brand new pair of jeans, or ~$5 for a used pair that looks brand new? Sometimes they even still have the tags on.

I've never gotten any sort of disease or rash or anything from used clothes--and when I was a kid we would literally take clothes from trash piles when people threw them out. Just wash them before you wear them, and you're fine.

I am fine with buying stuff from goodwill. Most of the time they wash stuff and then I take it home and wash it two or three times just to be sure it's clean. I will not buy underwear or anything that would go on an open wound or in/on my mouth, nose, or eyes. But pretty much everything else is fine. I made a cosplay once out of stuff I got at Goodwill for like 15 dollars.

The only thing I won't buy from second-hand places is underclothes and socks. I don't see anything wrong with getting shirts and pants from there as long as they get washed first

I give a bit of side-eye to people that have a strong aversion to buying used clothes. Those kinds of people generally don't have much of a concept of the privileged world they live in and what other people do to get by.

So yeah, I buy stuff from Goodwill all the time.

I've bought clothes at a thrift store before. I still have and wear a shirt I bought about 3 years ago. Just a solid long sleeve shirt for two dollars how can you not? Honestly I'd probably buy pants if I really liked them I just never go searching for them.

Whenever I get used clothes, I always have to wash them a few times. Because you are right, you never know where they've been. I don't think there's really anything wrong with it. To be honest, there are a lot of people out there who can't afford proper clothing, so the next best thing for them is usually from a thrift shop.

However, I usually have only gotten t-shirts and maybe pajama bottoms. I do think that buying underwear or bras from a thrift store is a little over the top for me though. :/

Actually, the locally owned second hand place here doesn't allow underwear to be sold there. I do frequent it once or twice a month either to donate, or to look around. A majority of my jeans come from there.

    This.
I generally usually go for shirts, since most of the pants aren't in my size. Most of the stuff I buy off my city's facebook used clothes market.

Only used clothes I wouldn't wear is socks and underwear. Otherwise, I've no issues with it. Just wash 'em first.

A highlight of my early childhood was getting hand-me-downs from my sister and some of my cousins. I don't personally go to thrift stores these days, but it's not because I hate used clothes. It's more that they're out of my way. It was easier for me to go to a clothing store than a thrift shop if I needed something new.

That reminds me, I'm sitting on a million pairs of jeans I really should try to get out to Goodwill. D:

I love going to thrift shops. I'll only buy used shirts or dresses though. I always wash what I buy at thrift shops, of course. One of my favorite shirts is from a thrift shop, actually. I wanted a baseball shirt and found it for 99 cents. I was in love.

I actually don't go shopping at thrift stores, but I'm not really against the idea of getting used shirts. Anything below the waist, I'd be hesitant about, but if the shirt looks nice, why not? That being said, I think the last time I went to a thrift shop was a couple years ago :c

I'll buy clothes from thrift shops, yeah. Just not underwear or socks. Jackets, jumpers, t-shirts, hats, scarves etc., sure! People who are scared of the "germs" that the clothes might carry make me laugh though. We have washing machines for a reason, y'all.

Basically like everyone else I would buy things from thrift shops and wear them with no problem as long as it isn't something that one would wear below the waist. That said, I don't recall ever being to one as I don't even know where one close to us is. :s

You know, washing machines were invented for a reason. Just throwing that out there.

Those shirts you're so fond of could have had just as much disgusting crap on them as those pants you're so eager to avoid. Feces, vomit, raw sewage, etc.

I've never gone to a thrift store. Most of my wardrobe was given to me by friends and family who outgrew them. That being said, I don't accept underclothes at all. Washer machines are nice and all, but just the thought something being close to someone else . . . is a little disconcerting.

Growing up, second-hand was all we had, and now I have a handful of brand new things and a bunch of stuff from Value Village.

I don't mind buying used as long as it doesn't look used.

I won't buy pyjamas, bras, underwear, socks or bathing suits used, though. Pants, shorts, capris, shirts, jackets, dresses... those are OK :)
