Does anyone have friends or family currently in the military or previously in the military?

Thats cool. My great grandfather was a WWII vet. He didnt talk about it much when he was alive (died in the past year- was a heavy drinker and smoker), but he was shot once or twice in the hip. Idk much else.

My uncle is recently retired from the military. I have a few cousins who are actively serving as well.

I have one distant cousin serving (that I know of). My grandfather on my mom's side served in Vietnam as well.

My boyfriend's dad served in the Marines a long time ago, and so did a really good friend of mine just recently.

My cousin who's in America has just finished undergoing Navy training...? I think? (Not really sure since I'm not very aware of military things much :s)

nz has nothing remotely close to the scale of most modern militaries and as such, i don't know anyone connected to any of the armed forces here
like... military culture here is almost non-existent when compared to americuh

My grandpa on my mom's side was an electrician in the Air Force. My grandpa on my dad's side was in the Navy. My mother-in-law was in the Army. I've also had plenty of friends who had family in the Army since I grew up 10 minutes from an Army base and worked on one, as well. Lmao

My great grandfather was in WWI I think.

One of my best friends is currently out in Afghanistan, his first Christmas on deployment. Pretty worried about him.

Outside of that, my uncle was in the army, my grandad C was navy and a WW2 vet, my Grandad S was RAF during the cold war, one of my Great Grandfathers was a veteran of thew Boer war and one was in the royal navy in the first world war. I'm not too sure about other family members however.

Both my grandparents. I'm still dealing with the VA . . . I don't feel like I did anything though, really.
