Watch Out For Ghosts... (Read first post!)

I would like to be a shiny Dusclops, please. :3

But, yeah, thanks Charlie! I scope the internet frequently for all kinds of GSC devamps, since I love the retro and quaint feel to them. There's just something ... novelty, and enclosed about them that I like. I certainly wish I had enough talent in spiriting to make my own, but my skills are really in making custom trainers and amalgamation fakemon. If you wanted to know where I get any of those GSC sprites, there's a CREDITS link in my signature.

Although I'm certainly not complaining how cool it is that we have 3D games nowadays with all their fancy environment-based backgrounds, but there's something about how small the screen was on the Game Boy Color that made battles feel way more grand to me. Left parts to the imagination. I also like GSC since Game Freak had finally figured out how to competently sprite their own Pokemon by then.

I'm kind of embarrassed I made this post an hour ago and was camping this whole time.

My evil plan was quite the intricate web of deceit and false hope, was it not? ;)

you cannot imagine how many tabs I had open

I feel like someone would be up in my business if I didn't have a sheet like that stating that I didn't own any of the sprites personally. If you need any help tracking them down, let me know! Most of the stuff I find is through simple Google search. I do hope the original artists wouldn't mind, since I don't use the sprites for hacks or anything, but a lot of sources just want you to credit them.

However I did make the trainer in my avatar all by myself like a big boy. :3

58.

I'm actually surprised that this thread still has conversations about the ghosting process, haha.

59

It really is a recurring topic, but not a really interesting one after all those times, although I still do want to become a ghost again. To throw in something random, what do you guys think about weather conditions?

60.

Weather is alright in competitive play, but I absolutely detest things like Hail and Sandstorm in-game. Heck, the hail on Mt. Silver is one of two reasons that I couldn't enjoy the battle against Red in HG/SS. =(

61

The 5th Gen competitive scene was remembered as nothing but a huge weather war. And they all blamed it on a frog with a certain rain-summoning hidden ability.

70

Yeah, those hidden abilities. But I don't see that many weather teams lately, that's probably because of the introduction of the Megas then.

What I find weird about weather is that there exist many places with natural rain, but nearly none with natural sun. Those rain routes make it impossible to train your fire Pokémon.

63

How the hell did you mess up the counter again...

Anyways, the reason why weather wars died was because 6th Gen nerfed those weather abilities from infinite to 5 turns. As a result, they are more difficult to use because it means the inducer now has to hold a Heat/Damp/Icy/Smooth Rock and switch in and out so you have to keep it alive as much as possible.

Personally I'd like to see a lot more weather conditions be made and specific to areas. There was something really cool and satisfying to fighting in that stormy weather in AlphaSapphire ... Weather adds a quirky challenge to an area. Which, as a Pokemon Trainer, you should be able to accommodate during your journey. I'd love to see a completely redone Kanto that's not afraid to change up areas to include weather and other things.

I feel like the occasional storms on Hoenn's Route 119 was Game Freak's attempt at souping up the typical rain. I guess they really took ideas from a rainforest when they were thinking of that route, and that's probably why it rains there a lot.

66

I like the variety of routes there were in Hoenn, actually. I absolutely covet Route 113 because of its unique terrain. I dunno if it was the emphasis on weather themes that made Hoenn such a diverse region, but I guess I'm just trying to say that I would love future regions following its example.

What was your opinion of ORAS? I'm actually a tad disappointed about the aesthetic. I feel like they tried too hard to emulate the tileset of the gen three games.
