Netbook here, which has the unfortunate combo of 1GB Ram and Windows 7... not to mention only 250GB of HDD space (but it is an upgrade over my previous computer with only 40 gigs, lol) My computer especially hates web surfing... it really runs slow then, even using Chrome...

The laptop I'm using right now is about three years old. So I'm pretty much overdue for a new one. I'm a sucker for memory when it comes to choosing a laptop though xD.

Is it just me, or does Chrome eat up a lot of your computer's resources? Granted, I tend to leave my computer on for days at a time and that'll slow everything down after a while, but still.

My laptop fails, it is incredibly slow compared to my pc, which is why I only use my laptop when absolutely required.

I use my school laptops whenever I go to school or when I take them home and use it instead of my desktop computer but trust me, they aren't the best laptops in the world. They can easily get messed up like the power button would be pushed in to far and you could easily scratch your computer by accident. The laptops use Windows XP which is another downfall.

The computer I'm using now is pretty good. (4gb ram, tri-core, 1 tb hdd, 7 home premium) but I really miss my old computer. (It was 1 gb ram, singlecore, 2x160gb, xp pro)

Then again, its probably because some of my more favorite games refuse to run on 7.

You know what I find weird? Look on newegg. They are (still) selling computers with XP on them.

Still, I don't like mixing Win 7 with net books. Sure, they meet the minimum requirements for 7 but thats (usually) about it. I prefer XP on net books, although I'd settle for Linux on them.

Vista was okay, but it was really buggy and slow imo. 7 seemed to be a huge improvement from Vista. I was glad that I used 7 during the remainder weeks of my final semester in college instead of boring XP.

Vista worked just fine for me.. after a years worth of bull and updates from it. xD;

Though, it's no where near as smooth as 7, so in the end I'm glad I switched.

7 is basically a combination of... what they did good for the XP and what worked for vista.

But in the end, it just makes you think that you should take vista to the shredder and deny its existence. =P

I wish Windows 8 came out earlier. Then again, all these testing are for something in the end... Now, if there was an x86 tablet computer that runs at least as fast as a top-end netbook that runs Windows 8... I think I'll just settle for a laptop.

I'm... wanting to wait to get a new computer till Windows 8 comes out, but that's a looong way. Though imo the OS works better on tablets and all-in-one computers (which is also what I want. lmao)

It's like Windows 8 is trying to be the OS for everything. XD

Jack of all trades, master of none.

Great. Just what I want in a computer operating system. Not.

If you want a user friendly interface, stick with XP until it's validity runs out.

I'm using Windows 7 with a XP-like interface. It's the best OS I have tried yet, at least in fluidity (4GB of RAM also help I guess). Vista was so incredibly painful.

I'll be waiting a bit on 8 to see how much customization can be put there, because I have a traditional mouse-and-keyboard setup and I don't want a touch-based OS for that.

On the other hand, it seems like Metro is there to stay, so I have a feeling that it'll be the default and forced... unless you spend the (minimal) amount of cash to get a monitor that somehow has the maximum vertical resolution to be less that 768 pixels. (That'll disable Metro because it can't work.)

On the other hand, it takes some time to get used to it using just a mouse, and I can see how a touch-screen is intended for it, but it's workable.
