I tried to play Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on switch, but struggled to get into it. Same deal with Dragon Ball Z Kakarot on PS. Both games I assumed I would really like, but guess I need to find new games I can properly get into on those platforms still. I kinda wanna double dip on Inscryption and get it on switch after already getting the plat on PS. Incredible game I'd definitely recommend to anyone reading.

Conversely to my modern platform struggles I have been enjoying emulating older titles like I always do, going back to some favs with improvement patches like YGO Forbidden Memories and Pokemon Gens 2 & 4. I also played a bunch of the Hamtaro GBA games, love Ham Ham Heartbreak, think I'm about halfway through that and wanna finish it. I also wanna do a spot of ps3 emulation soon, so gonna get some new roms for me to play there.

I finished Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin to my liking. No DLC for me. Mostly because you can only play it on the hardest difficulty. I beat the game on the easiest difficulty (again if you give me BS about this cry me a river). Besides... if you don't want to call this game a soulslike... okay? I guess? At the end of the day though it's a soulslike inspired game. So it's a game where your supposed to take 20-50+ attempts to beat things. Uh... how about no? I probably shouldn't play games like this but I did for this because it was Final Fantasy related. It probably won't happen again honestly (but not for the reason that you might already be thinking).

The game was good. Don't get me wrong. It was fun at times (although this was likely because I was playing it on the easiest difficulty) but other than that... that was pretty much it. The dialogue was great and honestly funny at times (those Jack one-liners lol. Like 'I don't care' or 'Not my problem' :p) and I did like how all of the areas were based on something from a past Final Fantasy game but other than that... that was basically it. The story was interesting... at first. But after that it was just a whole lot of... nothing. It really was I'm sorry. Just very bland/meh/boring for practically the rest of the game. Until near the end. It did get better and I'll admit that. But... it was far too little too late at that point. It was bland/meh/boring for too long. But I won't knock the game for that because... this game does something unique that not many do. I don't want to give spoilers... but a way to hint at it is this way... it's what Tales of Berseria did except it didn't happen until the end of the game (in Berseria it pretty much happened at the beginning).

There's actually a well known saying that hints at it as well. It's the saying that goes like this... "You either die a hero... or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"

That's all I'm going to say lol. All in all... I did enjoy the game but it was too bland/meh/boring for too long and I really shouldn't play soulslikes and/or soulslike inspired games anymore. It really doesn't matter though because due to the Square Enix news a couple of months ago, in all likelihood at least, all spinoff games are dead and buried for good so I seriously doubt a Stranger of Paradise 2 will ever happen.

Next up for me... the Poyo Poyo boy again. Kirby. Specifically... Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I've heard nothing but good things about this and I definitely remember how AMAZING the demo is. If that's what the full game is like... Legends Arceus might be in trouble at the end of the year lol. But we'll see obviously.

Yesterday I just finished playing The Messenger, and had a fantastic time with it. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys action platformers, but would also say don't look up anything about it! It had some really great twists in terms of its gameplay and structure that made it something of a magical experience for me. I haven't played anything quite like it for a long time, and it's the kind of game I'd been dreaming about for years, it scratched that itch I've had for so long.

I'm still slowly progressing through a gen 2 romhack from this site; Crystal Ultimate!

I wasn't expecting to wake up today to see the announcement and instant release of the Castlevania Dominus Collection but here we are and it's happened. I was going to play Order of Ecclesia anyways and having a proper way to legally obtain and play it is absolutely fantastic.
But for the past few days I've come back to playing Love Live School Idol Festival All Stars (or "SIFAS") after finding a way to play it offline on a private server. I'm constantly taking notes and keeping track of my collection of cards and it's an absolute blessing to continue to play one of my favourite games of all time even now after it went offline.
So I'd say life is actually pretty worth living right now.

Despite Crystal Ultimate I posted above I haven't been gaming as much as I'd like to be, was defo in a kind of gaming slump struggling to motivate myself to get into some gaming sessions, doesn't help that I've been crazy busy as I recently moved back to London. However I managed to harness some fomo after reading an article about the games leaving the PS plus library next month and spotted two games I've had my eye on for a while and have heard are really good. So I managed to use that to immediately download both and aim to try and give them both a shot before they leave on 19th of sept. The two games in question are Alien : Isolation and Marvel: Midnight Suns. I haven't got to the latter yet, but I've been playing and loving the former! So I was glad I managed to actually use fomo in a positive way! Hoping to start Midnight Suns one evening after work and hopefully I like that just as much as Alien!

Mega Man 11

Mixed feelings on this atm.

A painful start. Randomly picked a stage (Blast Man) and kept going at it despite an amount of game overs I lost track of xD
Then backed out upon reaching the boss and dying multiple times to him, thinking there's no way I'd beat him atm. Tried 2 more stages where I couldn't even reach the boss due to how hard they were (Block and Acid Man). Then I found the shop and bought a couple upgrades, but no consumables as I wanted to avoid wasting money on them till I found a stage I could beat. Then tried Bounce Man's stage out and it turned out to be pretty easy and the boss fight is very predictable and thus pretty easy too. Let myself gameover after reaching him to reset to the base amount of lives.
Went to the shop to buy a bunch of consumables and then blasted through his stage and him in 1 go lol

Felt really good defeating one of them after struggling on the other stages I tried for so long. I then went back for Blast Man after buying some more upgrades and consumables and kicked his butt too (died once before I did). And now I got 5 of the 9 defeated. Game really starts snowballing once you take a couple of them down and got some upgrades on you.
At the moment I'm liking the game, but the start was really hecking painful. Never played Mega Man before this btw =P

I finished Kirby and the Forgotten Land to my liking last night. So... is everyone saying this is the 'best' Kirby game ever made/of the entire franchise true and/or accurate? In many ways... it is. However... I don't like calling anything the 'best' of a series/franchise. Because at the end of the day... it's all subjective anyway and your going to get different answers from different people. Most of the game is pretty damn amazing yes. The graphics is probably the best graphics of the entire franchise. It had an ANIME OP-LIKE THEME SONG. ALL OF MY YES. Not only that... the music in this game might just be the best Kirby music/soundtrack I've ever heard. The mouthful mechanic/gimmick is probably the funniest mechanic/gimmick I've seen of the franchise, maybe ever. The gameplay is incredibly good and fun and being able to upgrade copy abilities is the BEST THING THEY MIGHT HAVE EVER DONE. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO THIS FROM NOW ON OR DO IT AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.

There's just one problem. One thing that has been made abundantly clear at this point when it comes to the Kirby franchise. They can't seem to find a middle ground in terms of 'difficulty'. Star Allies was too easy. Now... the missions to rescue the Waddle Dees in this game are ridiculously and overly difficult at times. Especially the boss missions. Are you kidding me with this BS with speedrunning and not taking any damage? This isn't Dark Souls I'm sorry. Some of the missions in the regular stages were just as bad as well. They really need to make up their minds on difficulty. But they clearly can't and clearly won't. This shit ruined my experience and I can't get past it and I shouldn't be expected to. Sorry it just did. There is no reason and no need for shit like this I'm sorry. Get it out. I would have preferred a 'collectible' mechanic like in the previous Kirby games over this shit. For that reason alone... it didn't overcome the thing that many seemed to be hoping it would (and I was too honestly). Because there's no reason for this.

But I did play post-game (don't have a heart attack) and it's the closest I've ever gotten to 100% in a Kirby game (90%). So there's that I guess. It's just the ridiculous difficulty of the Waddle Dee rescue missions that ruined this game for me. Other than that... yeah I'd guess I'd say it's the best Kirby game of the franchise/ever made. But that's still subjective.

Next up for me... is the Sly Cooper franchise on the PS3. Yes I'm playing the PS3 in 2024 what of it? Yes ALL OF IT (Sly Cooper franchise). I know that seems like a lot but most of them are short so it might not take as long as it appears. Though I will be attempting the Platinum in most of the games except one I believe (Sly 3 I think? I can't remember which one it is). So there's that to keep in mind as well. I won't be giving my thoughts on each and every game. I'll be giving my thoughts on the franchise as a whole so you won't hear from me again until that point.

I did play Marvel Midnight Suns, but wasn't as into it as I hoped, probably stick with Alien:Isolation and try to get as far through that as I can before it leaves the PS plus library on the 19th.

I also had my first game of this Fortnite season with my little brothers lol, I haven't played at all the last two seasons, I have liked some of the stuff in the respective battle passes but I just didn't have the motivation to play enough to get the BP. I remember there were seasons I played A LOT and still struggled to get everything. Just don't have that kind of time to invest into that anymore, and I also hate feeling like I've missed out on stuff when I've bought something (like the pass itself). Also kind of hate giving them money now lol, after multiple seasons I've bought the pass but not got everything. I do like playing occasionally, especially with my lil bros, but hate when it feels like I have to play and you're forcing yourself so you can unlock everything from the pass. Basically I hate their whole business model I guess haha.

I've been finishing up the Castlevania Dominus Collection, they're all great games I've replayed so many times and my eventual goal is to have completely maxed out save files of all of them. Farming every single item drop from every enemy, having every single weapon and piece of equipment in my inventory, filling out all the maps, doing all the quests, hitting max level, I want to do every single thing that exists in the game. A fun comfy long-term goal to set for myself to celebrate the games being easily accessible now. Learned a couple new things about Dawn of Sorrow yesterday and that was nice.

Besides that, bf and a friend of ours have pulled me into a Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough, it's my first time playing and I want no spoilers about any of the different story paths or endings or anything. Regular pen and paper D&D has always felt like something I can't quite enjoy but having it in the form of a video game has completely changed it for me, and we're playing it often enough with people I love spending time with that it's exciting and enjoyable every session we have.
I also saw that TCG Card Shop Simulator is a thing on Steam, and while I'm not sure I'd pay for the full game, having the free demo of it has been a fun timekiller and it's comfy in a way as well.

I'm taking a short break from playing Final Fantasy XIV currently because I'm in the situation of being max level on a lot of jobs and not wanting to rush the others, while being geared up well enough that I don't really think I want to continue doing dailies for the time being to get more tomestones. Eagerly awaiting the next patch, but I'll likely only be playing it with friends during raid sessions or if I'm invited for their roulettes for a little bit.

Now I'm playing Remnant 2 a lot, and Risk of Rain 2.
