What are the factors you normally take into consideration regarding whether or not you like a particular Pokémon? Do you like tough-looking or cute-looking Pokémon, or do you see past design and like Pokémon for their battling skills or abilities? Is it the anime or manga that influences how much you like a Pokémon, or maybe fanart, fanfiction and fan theories about specific Pokémon?

It's all in the design for me. I like something that's simple but creative in how its design reflects the ideas that are part of the 'mon. So, like, Pyroar's mane has hidden in it the Japanese kanji for 'fire'. That kind of thing really sells me. I'm also a sucker for cute and round things.

That's pretty darn awesome and not something I noticed!

aaaa yes. :D Same here. Cuteness is big for me and 95% of the Pokémon I like I believe are cute. I especially love small and fluffy Pokémon with tails, that adds a lot to their charm and often wins me over.

I agree on the design aspect. That is the first impression of Pokémon, after all. If it looks stupid, I probably won't pay much attention to it. It is the design of Starmie, Serperior, Empoleon, Ninetales, Dusknoir and Gliscor, for example, that make me gravitate towards them.

Another factor is the weakness and resistance allocation. I always refer to the example of Parasect here - a seemingly great monster with a fascinating and dark origin, but one that has some crippling weaknesses in-game. Two 4x vulnerabilities made even worse by the ability of Dry Skin. Other Pokémon suffer in the same way to a lesser degree, but it always forms part of my choice in whether or not to have them on my team.

In a more marginal way, stat distribution is another factor. It's also only been recently that I started paying attention to this. I like Pokémon with stats that can clearly be used to benefit a specific build. Super Training is invaluable in doing so, of course.

It's all about the flavour for me... does this poke's, typing, ability, look and backstory fit, or does it look like they said 'ahh we haven't got enough fairy types, so let's just strap it to any pokemon' (snubbull, I'm looking at you!). Stat distribution is important for me during the games, and I think some need a bit of reworking, I get that there needs to be better and worse poke's but sometimes it's too much.

Usually, I take its design (For example, I like Palpitoad because it looks funny), and its usability (I like Gliscor, Whimsicott, and Togekiss, not only because of their design, but also their viability in battle). Rarely, I consider other factors (for example, I like Litten because it actually looks and feel like a starter)

Design is the first thing that influences my decision, particularly if I find them cute or it they are based on a favourite animal of mine. However, if they have an endearing personality or character arc in the anime this might also make me like a Pokemon more than I did beforehand.

100%, purely aesthetic. That said, it's all subjective as even if a Pokémon is well-designed in terms of the thought that went into its composition, if the way it appears simply doesn't appeal to me, I'm just not going to like it. The Vanillish line is actually well-designed. But I still don't like them for how they appear in my eyes.

Some people just don't like how some Bug-types look. I've heard a few people think Scyther is way better designed than Scizor, but I personally think Scizor screams badass more than Scyther due to its red metallic appearance.

    Subjective.

If a pokemon is capable on sitting on my shoulders, like an Emolga, the normal bird pokemons in their first form or Victini, It gets extra points in my books. Either that, or it has to be looking crazy strong. So yeah, Im also completely judging pokémon by their looks :O

I first judge by the design at first, but the anime does change my opinion a lot. To see the Pokemon express himself, move, "live", it did made me change my opinion.

I generally don't care about design. Power is much more important because Pokemon was made for battling, and when you battle, you want to win. I believe Mega Salamence is one of the ugliest Pokemon in existence, but I still love it because of how good it is in Battle Spot, and Smogon had to kick it all the way to top-tier Ubers. If I have to pick between something such as Milotic and Alomomola for my team, I'd take the latter due to its excellent qualities such as huge HP and overall bulk, as well as being an excellent WishPasser, despite Milotic having the much better design overall.

I also care about the concept of said Pokemon. The reason why I can't stand Arceus. Still, I enjoy using 4 of them in AG.

if it looks stupid and ugly i judge it and i do not like it
    simple as hell{XD}

Design as well as the anime takes a huge part. First impressions are everything, especially in Pokemon I feel. If one it looks awkward or funny in a way, I probably won't end up using it.

Well, i love cool looking pokemons like infernape or greninja. I even love Chestnaught, coz it looks nasty, i mean tough. But i hate Delphox because of its looks. Moving on to the cute pokemons, i only love the ones who do great in battles, like our dear Pikachu or Piplup or Chimchar.

I also usually decide based on Design (I usually like tough looking Pokémon for some reason), but there are some other reasons that I like to go off of too. I usually try to base it off of skills, potential in battle, and maybe sometimes even just general personalities. For example, I love Linoone, even though it's not all too great in battle and it's stats aren't the best, but I can't help but feel bad for the fact that it just likes to run in straight lines, and it makes me realize the weird things we all do in our own lives.

A friend of mine once called me a Pokermon Hipster, and when they told me why, I kind of accepted the title.
I love pokemon that have incredibly unique move pools that encourage combo design, and on top of that I enjoy taking pokemon that are commonly disliked and attempt to make viable builds for them. I also prefer to not use pokemon that are obviously overpowered. I was called a Pokemon hipster because I think unpopular pokemon are really cool.

I will admit, from a visual design perspective, I tend to gravitate towards the cuter pokemon, but it's not anywhere near the main factor that decides whether I like a pokemon or not, and how often I will use it or pick it for my team.
I prefer unique stats, I don't mean powerful stats, I like pokemon with stats like "Ninjask", "Steelix", "Shuckle", for example, their stats are not top tier, but they're focused towards specific niches, and designing a pokemon to truly take full advantage of that unique stat makes that pokemon pretty interesting to me.
Another factor that helps me decide what pokemon I find interesting, is their overall collective move pool, which includes the moves they learn from basic level up, the moves the pokemon has access to through, breeding, tutoring, TMing, HMing, and any other fields of attacks that pokemon may have access to. I like reading through the collective list of moves pokemon have access to, and I will try to search for moves that naturally combo into one another that is unique to that pokemon, or at least a rare movement build that is only shared by a few pokemon. I enjoy using "Chimecho", "Jumpluff", and "Lickilicky", because they have unique move pool collections that have moves that interestingly combo into one another. Their stats may not be impressive, but their movepools, make up for their lack in powerful stats, and the fact that the combination of specific moves they can do aren't shared by any other pokemon, makes them attractive choices to me.
The very last factor that determines my interest in a pokemon, how popular is it. That may sound shallow, but it's the pokemon that are used by everyone or that are obviously in your face powerful, are the pokemon I prefer to stay away from. When I used to play online or with friends, I was just tired of seeing the same pokemon over and over again, and the pokemon that were used over and over again, they were only picked because obviously powerful pokemon are obviously powerful. Just seeing the same old teams over and over again broke the interest of playing the really powerful pokemon. So I found more fun in looking at alternative pokemon, pokemon that were commonly ignored but were still perfectly viable for playing competitively if raised properly and built with move pools that are rock solid for any kind of battling situation. I also can not begin to explain the delight I feel when somebody makes fun of one of my weird pokemon and then it just totally kicks their butt, best feeling ever.
I'm a bit of a weirdo when it comes to what pokemon I like and how I judge them, but it hasn't made me a bad team yet, and a few of my pokemon playing friends have even copied a few of my weird pokemon builds, so I must be doing something right.

It's three factors: Design, type, and what it's based on. Totodile and his entire line are my favorites because it shared similarities to Godzilla, was a water type, and its design was excellent. It came around the time I just got into Pokemon via Pokemon Silver [Because of Lugia being from the sea and being awesome.] and I try to keep one with me through most of the games when I can. Second is Mudkip because of its color scheme , the anime and because its design. I like all the Johto and Hoenn starters, but I am heavily biased towards Totodile since he was my first as a kid.

But the hugest factor aside from nosltagia has to be the hardcore cool factor. Does it look like a beast in battle? Cool and edgy or sleek like Umbreon? I'm in.
