"What is this? Is it fake? How much is it worth?" Thread

Hello! i was cleaning out my childhood bedroom over Christmas and discovered my old binder full of Pokemon cards. There are probably 300-400 cards in it, and I am at a loss about how to value them or what to do. My family and I were stationed at a military base in Japan from 1997-2000 and I bought Japanese Pokemon cards off-base as a child, and English-language American ones on-base at the BX. There are a lot, and I really don't know where to start in terms of valuing them, especially since about 2/3 are in Japanese. What would you recommend as a starting place to get an idea of what they are worth? And what is the best way to sell them?

For the English cards, TCGPlayer and eBay sold listings will help with values. For the Japanese cards, unfortunately you need to know what you have to be able to find them on eBay sold listings, as that's still generally the best English language source for finding their values.

The Japanese cards might be worth more if you have access to selling them via Yahoo! Japan or some similar marketplace, but iirc you have to have a residence in Japan to be able to sell things secondhand within Japan.

Hello I was going through one of my old boxes of Pokémon cards came across these promo cards tried to look them up and could not find who they were released by or any other info on them wondering if any of you guys know what they are

So, first thing, I've moved your post to the appropriate sticky thread for this topic.

Secondly, I think those actually are either counterfeit or part of a board game. They lack copyright information, which is what makes me think this, but I'm not an expert by any means on the early Japanese pre-TCG card products, beyond that I do think every one of those card sets has copyright information on the card and has details printed on both the face and backside of the card.

Nothing yet. Hold onto them for another 10 years and they might start climbing in value, as we get further from their release and they do start to become harder to find.

hey! i collected pokemon cards a lot when i was younger, i still have a bunch. i didnt know where to ask but i found this,
does anyone have any idea on how much they're worth? i have 3 binders of cards or so. they all say 1995,96,98 Nintendo & 1999 wizards if that helps. i have 6 charmanders, a squirtle, like 3 pikachus, charmelon, etc.

Hello, I've gone ahead and merged your post into the appropriate thread for these types of questions.

Basically, with what you have there, you'd be lucky to catch $1 US for them because those are actually that crazy common even though they're so old, because those are all commons and uncommons that are non-1st Editions and non-shadowless cards from the Base Set, which quite a few people have cards in great condition from.

I have come across Lugia ex 105/115 from Unseen Forces with the original Pokemon back (blue) as per photos. Could someone please take a look and confirm value? Previous sold listings are in the region of £100-£120 but I can't understand why this is.

Value is dependent wholly on the condition of yours, but i can't find your listing to verify condition or even version of the card. Cards from that set are currently very hard to come by.

What do you think this card is valued at? As you can see, it's not in that good of a condition, it's been heavily played with. But still, you think it still might be worth something?

Most collectors don't want to pay big bucks for a damaged card (even a small scratch can greatly reduce the value of a card), so you might have trouble getting rid of it for anything over a "giveaway price." If the card has any significance to you personally, I suggest hanging onto it. (You could also consider turning it into a pendant or art card.)

It's fake and, if pulled from a foil booster, the other cards from the pack are fake as well. In addition to the wrong name, the fonts are incorrect , the Energy icons are bloated and have the wrong shading, and lbs. is misspelled as libras. (Interestingly, this isn't even the card's official artwork.) Here's what the real card should look like.

Hey I was clearing out our attic today and I was thrilled to come across some of my old Pokemon cards which are still in their protective sleeves in my original collectors book. I remember my Dad buying these for me in the 90s and I was wondering what they could be worth now? I will attach one photo at a time of the cards and they are in great condition so I'm worried about taking them out of their sleeves! Any help would be really appreciated :)

So the photo I have attached is of the first four cards. They are all shiny with no real defects or scratches but sorry about the orientation of the photo my upload from my phone obviously hasn't worked out quite right!
