What Pokemon Would Live by You?

If Pokémon were running around in real life, which Pokémon do you feel you'd seeing running around in your neighborhood? Since there's a lot of baby rabbits near me, I could realistically see a lot of Buneary & Bunelby running around on the grass.

Ooo this is a good question!

I live a bit in the wilderness so there's lot of different woodland creatures about. Birds, squirrel, raccoons, deer (lots of deer), and the occasional foxes, bear, coyote, and mountain lion. So I imagine that would mean lots of flying types, Pachirisu, Emolga, Zigzagoon, Deerling, Stantler, Zorua (I think Zorua makes more sense than Vulpix because we tend to have rather fierce winters here but it doesn't consistently stay cold enough for Alolan Vulpix either), Stufful, Teddiursa, and maybe a Luxio or two. Plus many, many grass types too. I also live near a marsh so I imagine there being a few water Pokemon around as well. But more amphibious rather than fish, so like Palpitoad and Mudkip.

Based on the animals I see around here... definitely some Noctowl and Hoothoot since we have a lot of Great Horned Owls. Make some Ekans, Seviper, or Arbok since we have a decent amount of snakes both venomous and non-venomous. We have a lot of deer as well so Sawsbuck and Deerling make sense. Maybe some Pachirisu, Patrat, and Zigzagoon to cover the squirrels, prairie dogs, chipmunks, and raccoons. There's not really any coyote pokemon so maybe we'd have some Mightyena instead? And since we have a lot of lakes probably a fair amount of fish pokemon and Squirtle since there's a decent number of turtles too. Also lots of smaller bird pokemon like fletchling and starly would make sense, especially since we have hawks too so Staraptor and Talonflame would be good fits for that as well.

I love going out and looking for critters and especially like finding ones that Pokémon are based on (or things closely-related/reminiscent of them). Here are some of the IRL Pokémon I've found and "captured" on film (mostly insects):

Spoiler:

Based on other things I've seen in the wild, I think we'd also have Deerling/Sawsbuck (deer), Pachirisu (squirrels), Politoed (frogs/toads), Hoppip/Skiploom/Jumpluff (dandelions), Buneary or Nidoran (rabbits), Meowth etc. (feral cats), Murkrow (crows), Spearow (sparrows), Pidove (pigeons), Diglett (moles), Scatterbug/Vivillon (caterpillars and butterflies in general), Combee (honeybees), Beedrill (wasps/hornets), Yanma (dragonflies), Ledyba/Ledian (lady beetles), Volbeat/Illumise (fireflies), Venipede/Whirlipede (centipedes and woodlice), Kricketot/Kricketune (crickets), Foongus and Morelull (mushrooms), Vulpix (foxes), Seviper (pit vipers), Rattata (mice), Shinx/Luxio (bobcats), Hoothoot/Noctowl (owls), Mandibuzz (buzzards), Nincada (cicada nymphs), Paras/Parasect (Cordyceps, cicada nymphs, and possibly red velvet mites), Goomy/Sliggoo (slugs and snails), Roselia (wild roses), Geodude/Graveler/Golem (rocks and boulders), Spinarak/Ariados (spiders), Joltik (ticks and jumping spiders), Phantump/Trevenant (stumps and old/dead trees), and Durant (ants). And of course Vanillite/Vanillish (icicles) and Cryogonal (snowflakes) during winter. Maybe Talonflame since it looks like it has some cardinal mixed in, and some Ghost-types like Gastly and Misdreavus since there's a cemetery at the edge of the property.

I also want to say that we'd have Dunsparce since we've got bees and snakes, and slug caterpillars that almost look like baby tsuchinoko, but maybe that's pushing it... (Though some alleged tsuchinoko sightings actually have been caterpillars!)

Spoiler:

Apart from wild Pokémon, I think I'd also be seeing Torchic/Combusken/Blaziken (chickens), Psyduck or Farfetch'd (ducks), Miltank (cows), Ponyta/Rapidash (horses), Skiddo/Gogoat (goats), and some of the dog Pokémon around these parts. We've got a Piloswine (pot-bellied pig), Minccino (chinchilla), Growlithe/Arcanine (pomspitz), and several cat Pokémon ourselves.

Murkrow, Pachirisu, Fletchling, Bunnelby, Jumpluff, Basculin, Barboach, Ekans, Deerling, Sawsbuck, Mandibuzz, Patrat, Ducklett, Swanna, Miltank, Mudsdale, Magikarp, Drednaw, Pidove, Zigzagoon, Beedrill, Yanma, Mightyena, and Foongus aren't out of place around where I live. One of my neighbors owns a fairly old but still hyperactive Herdier. There have even been found fossils of Mammoswine (mammoths) located not too far from here.

i bet bugs like wurmple would be more common around me. since our house has a grassy area by its side hahaha. just no beedrill and I'm good.

We have a lot of diverse animal species here in the prairies and would in turn mean that there'd be a wide range of pokemon as well!

I live in the suburbs, so mainly just Zigzagoons, Fletchlings, Swannas (how is there no goose Pokemon?), a few stray cat Pokemon...My area isn't especially bad about garbage, but I'd assume any urban/suburban area would likely have a lot of Trubbish (at least some of which would be crawling out of my bedroom 😒). My neighbors have a MinPin, so I guess they'd have a Houndour instead. We sometimes have problems with centipedes in our basement, so...would that translate to venomous, foot-long Venipedes? Yeesh.

Most importantly though, Seedot. Because I live in Ohio. 😉 (Buckeyes.)

My state is crazy diverse with huge lakes and surrounding forests, tons of swampland, and ponds, so this'll be fun!

General wild: Deerling and Sawsbuck, Deerling and Sawsbuck absolutely everywhere. Running out in front of automobiles becoming a normal hazard everybody needs to be cautious of, Buneary, Bunnelby, Scorbunny, Zubat, Zangoose, Persian, Ekans, Seviper, Diglett/Dugtrio, Drilbur, Geodude, Stunky/Skuntank, Salandit, Dedenne, Plusle/Minun, Pachirisu, Togedemaru. a metric ton of feral cats of all species,

Around lakes/ponds: Ducklett/Swanna, Turtwig/Grotle/Torterra, Surskit, Poliwag up to Politoed, Tympole/Palpitoad, Froakie, Tirtouga, Dewpider/Araquanid,

Aquatic (in lakes/ponds): Feebas, Relicanth, Magikarp, Finneon/Lumineon, so much Basculin, Clamperl (but the more sickly version, like mussels vs. actual clams and oysters), Shellder, Bruxish probably, Wimpod/Golisopod, Dhelmise in our lakes.

Forests: Shroomish/maybe Breloom, Foonguss/Amoonguss, Morelull/Shiinotic, Seedot, Sudowoodo, Teddirusa/Ursaring, Stufful/Bewear,

On farms: Miltank/Tauros, Tepig, Skiddo/Gogoat, Mudbray/Mudsdale, Ponyta/Rapidash

Birds: Pikipeck/Trumbeak (no Toucannon though), Taillow, Wingull, the rare Braviary, Murkrow/Honchcrow,

Bugs: So much Ledyba. Ledyba would infest houses here (ladybug infestations are horrible here), Combee/Vespiqueen, Beedrill, Kricketot/tune, Spinarak/Ariados, Dustox, Mothim, Yanma/mega, Durant, Venonat/moth,

Because we get ridiculous winters: Cubchoo/Beartic, Delibird, Cryogonal, Vanillite/Vanillish/Vanilluxe, Bergmite, Snover/Abomasnow in the forests

Oh yeah! I didn't even mention surrounding farmland in my area. Miltanks, Mareep, Skiddo, Mudsdale.. all of them would be around. Plus any Pokémon generally associated with agricultural farming too.

And, if my current climate and temperature is to speak to anything, lots of early Yanmega.

I edited my post far too many times, but I think I've got everything now (unless tree fossils would be considered close enough to petrified wood to count as Sudowoodo).

EDIT: Welp, there's another edit! It looks like Sewaddle and Swadloon were supposedly based (or at least partially-based) on Silver-Spotted Skipper caterpillars. Added to my "caught" Pokémon list.

EDIT 2: Went ahead and added Masquerain to my caught list, despite its unclear origins.

Feraligatr like.... everywhere.

Murkrow/Honchkrow because I see a few sizeable crows here and there. Wish one of them would wear a hat, though.

Also Sawsbuck and Deerling because apparently there's wild deer in the forest near my job.

And then there's Yanmega because of all the dragonflies around here!!

That's about all I can remember iirc or bother trying to remember lmao.
