I've watched Casino Royale and then Quantum of Solace in the last few days. I'll see Skyfall and Spectre too before I got to No Time To Die.
Casino Royale is definitely the best Bond for me - Goldeneye came out when I was learning to walk, so I do have some fond memories of Pierce Brosnan's films (I fear if I ever see Tomorrow Never Dies again the remote control car will suck in comparison to my memory), but CR is perfect. One of the best Bond songs by far, and everything about Eva Green's Vesper has been seared into my brain since the first time I saw it, for me she eclipses even Diana Rigg's Tracy as the best Bond Girl (funny how I like the ones who have actual characterisation, huh?). Mads Mikkelsen is great...god, its all great.
Quantum of Solace is a polarising entry but I like it. A direct sequel was completely new to Bond (although even if NTTD is great, I don't want it to become a trend), and the action is actually nothing like as tricky to follow as all the films that took the wrong lessons from Bourne. I'm a sucker for a car chase, so after Casino Royale's disappointment I remember child me being ecstatic that they gave me one right at the start of the film. In hindsight its almost prophetic in the fact that Bond's big bad is a toxic billionaire who pays lip service to environmental causes while being the absolute worst. This latest rewatch is the first time I've understood that Bond was preparing to do the chivalrous thing and give Camille the first bullet when it looked like they had no escape, in my youthful blessed ignorance I was always shouting at the screen "the building's one fire, just pick her up and run!". Speaking of...that hotel goes up in flames faster than a Tesla!
I am concerned about the whiplash of going Quantum-Skyfall-Spectre in quick succession though. Him going from British Terminator ready for duty, to retired has-been called back for one last job, back to his physical peak, is just odd. Skyfall is great though.

I'm watching the Toby Maguire Spider-Man movies (and afterwards the Andrew Garfield ones) for the first time ever - watched 2 last night, and wow, it deserves the acclaim it gets! 😃

I think you are the first person I have seen that has given it a good review!
Last thing I watched was The Empty Man... not sure how to rate it tbh. Interesting plot but didn't seem to really like escalate it as much as I think a thriller should've done.

It was everything the first one should have been tbh. The first one tried to take itself seriously and kinda missed the mark. This one is obviously designed to be pure fun and it's much better for it imo :)
My qualm is that is exactly what made it "meh" for me. I still feel that the point of Carnage was somewhat missed, like he was a watered-down "fun" version of the, well, psychopathic maniac he is.

I can definitely agree on that! I loved the movie, but I wasn't in love with the way they handled Carnage if I'm honest.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1956. It's a science fiction classic, despite the film's age and low budget the simple effects for seapods are so eerie, as is the atmosphere. Once the movie gets going it's intense and suspenseful, never letting up on the drama. I was also captivated by the lead actress Dana Wynters, she's so ethereal and mysterious.
Friday night I had watched the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, which is also great. It's creepy, and darker, downright scary, and has such a talented cast of actors with good chemistry with one another. There's also so many nice bits of diecting that foreshadow things to come. It's awesome that they use Kevin McCarthy, star of the original movie who played Dr. Bennell, in a cameo part, which he's great in btw. It made me go watch the 50s Body Snatchers last night.
It was good to see these two films back to back. I have seen them both before, and they're movies that are always fun during the Halloween season. I have the 1993 Body Snatchers in my movie collection too, so I'll give that a rewatch tonight too. It was also good as I remember it.
The only Body Snatchers adaptation I disliked was the 2007 The Invasion.

It is sure is! I forgot about the faculty, and it is good! I hadn't thought of it as a tribute to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but you're right, I can see it now that you mention it. I may have to give that a rewatch too!

This is embarrassing to admit, as a Halloween lover, but I just watched Nightmare Before Christmas for the first time ever. (Slipped through the cracks in childhood, I guess, and I - I just wanted to wait until I felt ready to make it a special experience.)

I watched the new Dune film... it was pretty disappointing tbh.
After about the 50th time responding "it would make far more sense if you'd read the book" to questions from my partner, I realised it just wasn't a very good movie. A film should be able to stand on it's own, this one doesn't imo.

Rewatched The Devil Wears Prada (2006) on a whim. Wasn't a fan of Andy's boyfriend too much. Forgot his name already.
