Anime/Manga What's your guilty pleasure?

"Something, such as a movie, television program, or piece of music, that one enjoys despite feeling that it is not generally held in high regard."

Ok I thought of asking this when I thought about my own guilty pleasure: Prince of Tennis. I think the general consensus is that it sucks but I seem to enjoy it, partially due to the fact that it was available at my junior high's library and my group of friends all read it and discussed it. I have re-read it a few times since then and it never fails to entertain me.

What about you guys? Which Manga/Anime is your guilty pleasure?

Monogatari Series by Nisio Isin because of all the awesome and interesting female characters. Another one is Prison School manga because of the art and story.

highschool of the dead.

people generally thinks of hotd as a cheap zombie, end-of-the-world, ecchi anime. which it sort of is
but its actually a good show. but i guess that's just because i find apocalyptic anime very interesting. season 2, i'll see you never :(

K-on, and other moe anime of the like.

tbh a lot of people seem to think moe is trash... But I HIGHLY disagree.

I'd have to agree with Palamon here. I definitely enjoy moe anime as a guilty pleasure. Otherwise, I don't know how Shokugeki no Souma stands in general tastes, but it's also one of my favorites to watch. The general consensus from people I've spoken with is that it's not great.

..Killing Stalking.

I'm ashamed of it, it disgusts me and disturbs me. But the dynamic between the characters and the realism of what a real life abusive relationships is like (save those elements that are embellished for the narrative's sake) is painfully accurate, raw, and frighteningly familiar. That Mangaka makes me feel things I never expected to feel from reading something I knew would ride the edge of grotesque and near pornography, and I appreciate it for evoking such powerful emotions in me, even if it's more upsetting than anything else.

A guilty pleasure it may not be, but a guilty rollercoaster of unbridled emotions it certainly is. Not many things have hit me as hard as KS.

That's not a manga, it's a Korean comic, or "Manhwa", as they're called. But your point is still valid. (Sorry, I just had to point this out.)

You're totally right. I knew it was something not along the lines of a proper manga but I could not for the life of me remember the word. Thanks for the correction!

Food Wars. It's cliche, it's got a former hentai artist as its author (and boy does that show), it's got a giant cast, and it's about cooking food, a field I have absolutely no knowledge in. But the characters, as many as there are, are all very unique and memorable. They have their quirks which range from just being constantly naked unless he has to wear clothes to obsessing over don. Their designs and personalities are colorful and it makes the anime which otherwise would be really bland, really fun. The fan service is a bit excessive at times, but it helps the show is aware of this and makes fun of itself from time to time as well.

Not sure if this counts, but the Ghost Stories English Dub. I don't why, but the jokes always get me laughing.

Same. Fanservicing characters in general, especially underage characters, really gets on my nerves, but I find the Food Wars series really interesting with a great cast of characters. Would have been perfect if the author didn't do...that. /:

Yeah I was talking to a friend of mine about watching it before I started it and she was like "I think that's the anime with the former hentai artist as an author". I was super confused until I watched the first episode. Some of the scenes are kinda funny but overall it's a huge bleh moment. But the show has a great cast so I keep coming back for more.

Symphogear. The transformation sequences have gotten uncomfortably fanservicy (a shame since S1's looked great and didn't sexualize the girls) over the years, but the action and songs are fun to watch/listen to. It's good for turning your brain off for 20 minutes.

Romance anime. I'm a sucker for slow burns.

Attractive characters. I'm tempted to get into some seasonal anime only because of how attractive the characters are.

I lovex3 POT! For me it was awesome.
For me I'd have to say liking Kpop. Although it's widely recognised nowadays I still feel as if I need to hide my liking for them.

YESSSS! I'm so glad that I'm not the only one. I start watching shows with attractive characters, but at some point, I notice why the show is so unpopular and drop it.
