Where do you see yourself in the future?

This thread is inspired by a conversation I was having with Razor Leaf yesterday.

Where do you see yourself in 10, 20, or even 40 years in the future? Do you have set goals such as being employed or married by a certain age or are you just going with the flow to see where life takes you? Do you want kids or are you still undecided on this?

I really want to have a kid and get married at around 25. I feel as if that is a good age to where you can support your family and stuff. However, employment wise, I'm hoping to get out of college with a Masters in Business and work for a larger corporation. Then, when I'm like 35 or so, I wanted to maybe try and start my own business and see where that goes. I really like the idea of competition and I'd want to be my own boss. I know it'd be hard, but I think it's do-able.

I'll go ten years in the future, since I really hope after that things start to settle down and stop changing. First of all, I hope to be alive. Secondly, I hope to be employed, but due to my non-decisiveness regarding a career, I could very well be in school still. I'd love to start a family, but honestly, you never know if you'll find love or not, and in this case, ten years in the future, I'm not expected to be married or anything. Assuming I remain forever alone, I wouldn't want that to stop me from being a father, so I think after I settle down, adoption would be something I'd highly consider. Obviously single parents have a rougher time with that, but this whole situation is a bunch of what-ifs. We'll see what happens down the road.

25 is the ideal age that I would like to be married or at least with the person that I intend to marry by. I say this because I just feel like that is a good age to start settling down with someone. It's not something that has to happen, but would just be nice. I also want to have my permanent employment by then. Other than that, I'll just live life out and see what happens because I don't want to have too many plans for life because I'd feel limited and not be open minded enough to the other possibilities that could arise.

I'll go ahead with the ten years into the future.

Hopefully by the time 2023 rolls around I will have a good steady job as a registered nurse thanks to my college degree that I am currently working towards. I would like to have one to two kids with the amazing future wife that I may have. If I were to get married I would like for it to happen around the age of 24 or 25.

Somewhere between Sky and Earth!!...i don't plan for my life,i hate that... i leave it to come the way it meant to be

Where I see myself and where I'd like to see myself are two very different questions I've asked myself many times before. To put it simply, I have no idea where I'll be in the next ten years. However, I hope to be living a life where I have a successful career, I'm happily married and beginning to start a family in a comfortable home in the location of my desire. I also would like to see myself traveling and just being both adventurous and spontaneous.

Forty years from then, hopefully I'll still be alive and well with grandchildren to tell my life stories to. I'd like to be flying in my own hovercar by then too!

I think that all of us who do think about the future feel this way about seeing a barrier between what we want to and what will actually happen. Ideally there are many things that we want and would like to happen but in reality they probably wont. I like what you listed though because those are all plausible goals and sounds like it would be a wonderful life.

    Ugh future plans.

I really, really hope I become a really successful actor (or even somewhat) after I leave college. I know it's a dynamic and ever-changing career, especially since there's no guarantee I can actually get the job (I'm pretty confident in myself though, I'm great at acting :P), but it would give me the opportunity to do something I love. If that's not gonna happen in the next ten years, well, I'm gonna be heavily disappointed in myself.

Marriage... ugh. I don't know about this one. I know that everyone eventually is supposed to be married, but I honestly couldn't see myself in that kind of relationship. I'm super independent and haven't really found the need to be in a relationship, although I have the feeling that once I get lonely while living on my own I'll either find someone or become a cat person.

As for kids, hell no. I'm not bringing another me into this world. I'm enough.

Here's how I want my life to work out:
16: Get into Northwestern, form a band
    17: Graduate high school
18: Become a wanderer for a few weeks in the summer, then start college.
22: Get my degree in either music theory or advertisement
23: Buy a small house (or room with my pals!)
24: Get a cat and name him Puf
    25: Be a successful writer/musician/advertising manager
    30: Adopt a kid.

That's all I got so far.

Lets see.. I like to find something I can do for others in the future. Maybe work with kids by doing art with them. Or becoming a writer and tell others my story. I been though a lot of hardships in life and like to help others out by sharing what I been through and tell them your not alone. Hopefully find really good friends the rest of my life and that special guy too. Family wise if the person I'm with will like them so will I. I have a loving nature so I been told I be a good mother. So I hope I do good at it when the time comes.

Also if I can get into video gaming or movie 3D animation. I so would love to do that for a job. :P

In about 10 years, I see myself living out of state, by myself, and possibly with 20 cats in my apartment. idk, I don't really see myself getting married or having children, although that's what my mom wants, but to be quite honest, I don't want that. And I'm telling the truth haha xD I hope to have my career stabilized then, making money and stuff, and hopefully making a difference in the community.

I see myself as a staff member on PC in 10 years, and still playing Pokémon

I would hope to see myself in the future to be married with someone I really love and who I can stay with instead of be separated from, raise a good family (whether large or small), and have my dream job of course. All this probably can't start to be accomplished though until I get into college.

I'm actually really bad at planning out my life. I'm going into college next year and I have no clue what I want to do in life.

Ideally I would be graduated from college living with a wife and daughter and maintaining a well-paying career. I would be living somewhere cool and cloudy. Maybe Seattle. That sounds nice.

I see myself out there somewhere with a steady career helping out people as a Psychologist. Possibly with children, but I've yet to really discover what I really want to focus on. I also see myself hopefully married with children (if I am ready), or if not yet married, at least in a happy and fulfilling relationship. Oh, and my future husband should love dogs as well, so we could get a dog of our own! That has always been my dream. <3

In about ten years I see myself in the arms of Norman Reedus, spending the summer in a cottage in the English countryside with two of my own children and two adopted, a cat and a border collie. <3 I really hope to make that dream come true one day!

Haha, that is certainly a big goal to be in the arms of a celebrity. It's a nice future plan though, I know there are celebrities that I would love to see myself in the future with as well!

    22: school and work
    23: school and work
    24: school and work
25: school and work and relationship?
26: work and relationship and new car
27: work and relationship, live with
28: married and apartment and work
29: married and apartment and work
    30: maybe kid
    31: move into house
