6th Gen Where's Wally?

I love him. The second best rival I have ever met. (Contrary to most people, I actually like Barry) I hope to see more of him in the remakes, as well as Brendan/May. Wally has a very very interesting background, and might connect with the real life players with breathing problems. I know I did.

Maybe Wally will thank the player for everything they did and give him/her the Gardevoirite (or Galladite if he gets a Gallade instead of Gardevoir).

Yeah, I agree, Wally should have something to give to the player. I mean you were the one who helped Wally catch his Ralts. I hope we do get something even if its not the megastone.

True rival? You only fought him twice! And the first time he only had his Ralts.

I hated Wally with a passion. One of the (many) shortcomings of 3rd gen is not having good rivals. Brendan/May gives up in the middle of the game. Wally is fought twice: first time he only has Ralts and the second time (which the devs probably meant as a "surprise") he already has a full team. I'd rather have seen him develop and become more involved with the story, like Barry in DPPt.

Knowing GF, they probably won't make Wally more involved in the game, as it was in the originals.
I agree with your thoughts there, haha. Although I may not be as skeptical as you on the last part - in HGSS they did add in a pseudo rival after all.

But yes - please don't make Wally disappear for over half the game and actually keep him relevant.

Since Wally was last being discussed in the Rumors thread, might as well bring the convo. over here~

If Wally does return, do you think he'll get a Gardevoir or Gallade? Do you think he'll be able to utilize Mega Evolution? Additionally, do you think they'll make any extra changes to his team? (e.g., giving him a Magnezone and Roserade for the battle in Victory Road.)

I think he should return with Gardevoir because that was his original signature, plus the inclusion of Mega Gardevoir just makes it all the more prominent. I think it should be uplayed more than Dianthia's Mega Gardevoir because she hadn't made any real mention of Mega Evolutions beforehand iirc so seeing her with a Mega Gardevoir caught people a little off-guard given it was out of left field. I want Wally to be stoked about having the Gardevoirite.

Actually Diantha discussed Mega Evolution with the player and the professor when you saw her at the monorail.

I think he may get Gallade as GF probably won't want to make another male Gardevoir for a character to own. I guess they could make it female for the remakes. But him having Gallade will give Gallade some spot light, especially if he is given a Mega evolution.

Hopefully he beats whatever disease he has and provides more of a challenge? I don't remember any sort of struggle against him.

Mega would certainly help that cause. :)

Wally needs to happen so bad. His character needs a bump, and I feel they can do something interesting with him. Only thing is, as its a mentor-student type of relationship, the only real growth he can technically have is through beating you, which is impossible. Ah well. As long as he's used as a platform for Mega Gallade, I'm good.

He may also end up getting Roserade and Magnezone considering he had their pre-evolutions in the originals. So he may very well be tougher than in the originals.

Dave put it really well. Diantha's Mega Gardevoir was a surprise, but Wally seems to have an extremely close bond with his Ralts, and being able to let it reach its full potential would mean the world to him; not to mention make defeating him much more of a difficult task.

To be fair to Diantha Lysander getting a Mega was also a surprise. Also to a certain extent so was Serena/Calem getting one post game as there it was previously said that there was only one Mega Ring yet she/he got a Mega Ring.

Anyways back to Wally I do think he deserves a Mega evolution of the Ralts line. Now the question is if he'll get Gardevoir or Gallade (with him getting a Mega too).

There's no real reason for him to switch to Gallade. He had a Gardevoir originally, I think it's going to stay that way. Maybe he has both on his team in ORAS?

He had a Male Ralts in the originals. Plus GF made Gallade likely as Gardevoir was deemed too feminine. They'll probably reflect that by changing Wally's Gardevoir into a Gallade instead. Or make his Ralts a Female hence a Female Gardevoir.

Too feminine for what? Wally? His Ralts was male back then because Gallade didn't exist, haha. I think it'll just become a female in ORAS, simple as that.

For male Kirlias. At least that's the theory as to why it was created in the first place. I wonder why we don't have a Male counterpart to Lopoony and a Female counterpart to Machamp though...

I do hope that he get's a Gallade though as Diantha has Gardevoir now, and make him seem a bit overshadowed by the Kalos champ in terms of Gardevoir users for this generation.

A couple of thoughts on Wally:

Let his Roselia and Magneton evolve. This is fairly self-explanatory.

As for Gallade / Gardevoir, I think it'd be interesting if it was random. Like, he encounters his Ralts and if its a boy, he ends up with a Gallade, and if its a girl, he ends up with a Gardevoir. I know male Gardevoir exist, but we'll just say he won't evolve one. The reason being allowing for that would tip the scales in Gardevoir's favor.

Get rid of his Delcatty. Delcatty sucks. There are two Pokemon that come to mind to replace it - Slaking or Linoone. Both for the same reason - it would be semi-subtle nod to Norman, whom he owes for being able to start his journey.

Don't add any mid-game fights with him. Honestly, I really like the way he comes out of nowhere at the end of the game - the first time you play, you've long since forgotten about him by then. And, even if you haven't, you completely counted him out - he's a sickly trainer with a weak Ralts, and that's all he'll ever be.

And then, he shows up with decently strong Pokemon and surprises you.

I think it'd be cool if other NPCs talked about him, not by name, or else it would completely spoil it, but I think it'd be cool if some trainers talked about how you beat them even easier than "that talented pale kid" or things to that affect.

Also, and this isn't exclusive to Wally, but I think major characters should have Secret Bases you can find. Maybe they could be tied into getting their Match Call / Trainer Eyes information? They don't necessarily have to be in them, but it should be obvious who it belongs to in some way.

If they make it random they'll need to make it so his Ralts can be female as irc his Ralts in RSE can only be male.

I would love it if he and other had secret bases. Then after we defeat them we can take them for our own ^_^

Sure that if he's in game and keeps the same team, Roselia and Magneton will most definitely reach their final form. Wally was already a pushover in the original RSE, not evolving them would make it even easier. d:

With his Roserade he can take down Swampert and Sceptile, and with his Gallade/Gardevoir he'll be able to take down Blaziken. Altaria will resist Blaziken and Sceptile (unless we use dragon moves) and be super effective against both with it's flying moves. I think his team will hurt someone with Sceptile as their ace most...
