I think X and Y's naming scheme is just dumb now because it doesn't make any sense whatsoever anymore without a Z. Especially with the legendary trio naming scheme, the anime being titled XY&Z, it just seems all very "pulled out of ones bottom". Especially since they have unused Zygarde moves in the coding of all current games as well as the whole AZ's Floette thing never being dealt with (why on EARTH would you go to the trouble of making a whole pokemon with an exclusive move that never gets used at any point?) as well as making 3 new forms for Zygarde, but they're just going to skip the rest of this gen altogether? After all, the description doesn't say it changes form when the exosystem is threatened, it says it changes form specifically when the KALOS ecosystem is threatened, but there's no more Kalos games? What was the point of everything then? I really think that hacker that discovered the extra legendaries early screwed up Gamefreak's plans so instead of releasing new legendaries, they needed to make alternate forms of pokemon that JUST got released so because they place "surprising the fans" in a higher priority over "let's just focus on making the game as good as it can be" there's all this lead up but no payoff.
But anyway, I think with Pokebank and what they did with Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza, not to mention the new mega evolutions, I think pokemon generations could pretty much be a thing of the past, they could just forever introduce a couple handfuls of new pokemon with EVERY new game and never need to make a full on generation of pokemon ever again. You know instead of selling whole seasons of a tv show in a dvd boxset, they just sell 5 or 6 episodes at a time?
Part of me hopes that sun and moon are in a new region and that Z somehow comes after that because really, Kalos was out for only 13 months, ORAS came out, everyone forgot about the Kalos games (cause almost ALL the event giveaways were ORAS only, and a great deal of the comeptitions were ORAS only too) so the 2 years and 4 months that gen 6 existed Kalos really took a back seat to everything so I'm really hoping a new Kalos game comes out but if they ignored Kalos a year after it came out, I doubt they're ever going to do anything with it at this point.
