Yeah, I was a little inspired by this thread c:

In the weeks before my school's prom a lot of people are rushing to ask each other, since our entire school is allowed to go regardless of grade. Some people like to do elaborate "prom-posals" yet some people just like to ask without all of that jazz. Someone asked me this year, but thank good they didn't ask in front of anyone because I said no, lol. It was one of the most awkward moments of my life. So.. did you ever get asked/ask someone to prom? Did you say yes or no? Did you even go to your school's prom?

Where i live we have no proms :( i would love to go to a prom tho, take me :3

I went to a Catholic school where it was required that you had a date to go to prom, and it had to be someone of the opposite sex. I asked someone a year under me my senior year to go to prom with me, and he said yes - and then the final day when paperwork was due he told me that he wasn't going with me. I went to the teacher who was supposed to handle prom and burst into tears because I knew I wouldn't be able to go because everyone who wants to go to prom has a date by the final day of paperwork, you know? I was too young to know that no rule is set in stone and the administration, who liked me and knew I was a good kid, let me go without a date. I was the only one there without one, but it was okay because I looked adorable and had lots of fun and the kid that ditched me is now going to a crappy school and doing not much of anything with his life while I'm on my way up.

Oh God, I don't even want to remember my prom. The first part was tragic, In the second part I didn't care because I got drunk. I didn't got asked, nope, I asked a girl. She only wanted to go to prom with me just for the sake of party.

I was asked out to prom every year, and never went.

Prom happened right at the same time my explorer competitions for state were happening. I couldn't abandon my post... wouldn't be right. It'd be like a team playing without a captain for the state finals or something.

I had a girlfriend at the time but she didn't want to go with me. Or want me to go in general for that matter.

My friend sort of latched on to me two years before our formal. Saved me the effort of having to find a date. Really good night, snuck in my flask and got drunk in the bathroom.

Eeeeh, I had a couple of guys that were after me to go with them to prom, and one of them literally tried for months. Got to the point where I so bothered by it that I just got fed up with the idea of prom in general. Didn't go with either one of them, because I don't even like guys, and I had no guy friends that wanted to go with me as "just friends". Didn't ask any of my female friends, because that would've been awkward too. xD; So prom was a no for me both times I had the option.

So this may sound really dorky, but I like making girls feel special when it comes to prom. I try to make it so that even years down the road they'll still remember what I did, because that's what prom should be: a memorable experience overall!

My junior year for prom I dressed up as a "Robin Head"-esque person and had a bunch of my friends lead me into our school's media center - where I knew she was going to be in the morning - with a bunch of renaissance music in the background. In front of everyone, I announced that I had traveled all across the kingdom to find my fair maiden and that I had finally found her, and then went into lip syncing/dancing to that song "That's How You Know That You Love Her" from that movie Enchanted. At the end of the whole spectacle I got down on one knee, pulled out a tiara from a bag I had and asked her if she would be my princess to prom (and she said yes thankfully!)

My senior year for prom I had a friend who I wanted to ask but she lived a few towns over - about a 50 minute commute - so because of gas I couldn't really ask her in person. So, I did it over Facebook (oh well.) What I ended up doing was I borrowed a friend's banana costume and while surrounded by banana peals held up a sign that said "I would go bananas if you'd go to prom with me." And it went off without a hitch! 250+ likes and a resounding yes from her, and I had myself a wonderful date to prom. Here's the picture of it also if you want to see as proof.
    Spoiler:

It's just these little things that can make a person feel really special. Think about it long and hard gentleman before asking a girl; you don't know the kind of impact that you can really make (:

I didn't have anything elaborate in high school. I asked a guy I was talking to back in 11th grade. Then we were dating by the time senior prom came around so I didn't really need to ask him then. Prom was...really boring both years, honestly.

I've been in college for 4 years, but I asked my boyfriend tonight if he'd be my prom date, haha. idk how we got on the subject, but we were talking about prom tonight. He said he'd take me to prom...I don't know what exactly that means though. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

I never went to homecoming dances or anything like that. Was honestly planning to sit out senior prom as well. When the time came though, I started to reconsider. There was a girl I would've liked to ask, but she actually asked someone herself, so it was a little late for that. Knowing me though, I would've still chickened out in the end even if she hadn't had a date. I could've gone without a date. It would've been extremely awkward though (would've been awkward even with a date tbh haha), so I didn't end up going. Yeah I sort of regret it. Not much you can do about it now though.

Well, I was home-schooled and what most people would consider to be, more or less, a drop-out at 16. So 'traditional' prom was never really an option, haha.

Though I was dating a guy who went to a public school during his prom years.. but when he asked me, I just told him that school dances weren't really my thing. Spent that night at my house playing video games. Time much better spent, imo. Don't really regret that decision.

I didn't go to prom or any kind of school dance. I was the biggest loner during high school, so I didn't ask nor did I get asked. I didn't really mind it then, and I don't really regret it now. If I were given a similar opportunity today though, chances are I'd go with it due to curiosity.

I love the term "prom-posal" haha.

My "prom-posal" was pretty uneventful. I asked one of my friends to go with me because she'd recently changed schools and would have otherwise been unable to go to our school's prom. She said yes and off we went!

I SENSE A PROM PHOTO COMING ON

This was six years ago, I was bigger back then and so was she, these days we are both models ready for the catwalk.

    Spoiler:

I didn't go to my Senior prom because I had just lost my girlfriend and it just would have been too much. I don't remember my Junior prom or homecoming or any of that anyway now except one, and that was the homecoming I took her.
