Would you like to see a new type added?

I would like to see some small adjustments to the type chart for balance sake, to give a little boost to certain types and nerf those that are a bit OP.

That was the reason why Dark, Steel, and Fairy were added (although in Steel's case its effect was rather questionable). If they have to I guess I'll deal with it, but I'd prefer they improved the balance without adding any new type.

Can't think of any new type that would conceptually work. It should be something that helps types like Grass, Ice, and Rock, and hurts others like Steel.

I would prefer adjusting current types for more balance as the way to go here.
Gen 6 did wonders for Ghost- and Dark-types offensively, so maybe a defensive buff to Ice/Bug/Grass/Rock-types would make a lot of older Pokémon more viable.

Way back around Gen VII or so I had come up with a new type in the same vein as the then recent Fairy type as a thinking exercise called Monster-type, based on the fact that there's a Monster Egg Group the same way there was a Fairy Egg Group even before the Fairy-type. The same way Fairy type serves as a counter to Dragon, I imagine Monster would be a parallel to it. It could be composed of mostly Kaiju like Pokemon, who all share design similarities in the same vein as Dragons but don't really fall into a same type, like Aggron or Tyranitar, Avalugg perhaps, etc.

I didn't really think that much about its type advantages and disadvantages, but I guess it'd end up being very similar to Dragon type, with Monster type being strong against itself. The resistances and weaknesses could be based around typical Kaiju movies, or thinking about what the weaknesses of strong, big, lumbering monsters would be. It could also be a stand in for a Radiation type, similar to how Pokemon Uranium had the Nuclear type, since Kaiju and specially Godzilla tend to be associated with that stuff.

Speaking purely from a game balance perspective, I do agree the easier route is to just re balance the type chart somewhat. But it was a fun thought exercise to think about what could be a probable official new type, based on the existing stuff from the games.

I'd prefer for the type chart to stay the same, 18 is already quite a bit, and most of the broad "elemental" concepts have already been covered. It would be hard to add a new one that wasn't closely related to a pre-existing type or too specific to have more than a few evolution lines.

Absolutely not, I'm still getting used to the Fairy type, AND we don't even have all the combinations possible available on Pokémon yet, adding a new typing now wouldn't make any sense at all, the only thing I wish they did is stop repeating the same type combinations over and over again, and start adding more of the Rare or Inexistent type combinations to the new Pokémon

I don't believe any more types should be added due to the reason of the types are all vast enough to cover any of these already,. They have only added types due to one type being over powered but the types feel pretty balanced rn. I honestly thing adding a new type at this point would feel like such a gimmick
