what are your opinions on roller coasters? if you like them, what's your favorite one that you've been on? if you don't like them, why? what's your limit in terms of fair/theme park rides in general?

i recently went to cedar point in sandusky ohio. home to this monstrosity. i love roller coasters and i went on almost all of them, but skipped out on that lol. i guess my limit would be anything with a large, intimidating drop (i mean like a very, very tall drop. anything over 250 ft or so). i tend to find roller coasters without a lot of loops or inversions distasteful and not fun at all. i also HATE drop rides. i'll ride anything else, but not drop rides. i had a bad experience on one, so they've been ruined forever for me. my favorite roller coaster that i've been on is a really hard one to discern. i loved the maverick, valravn and gate keeper when i went to cedar point, and i think gate keeper is definitely in my top favorites, but i'd say my favorite is the incredible hulk in universal studios orlando. the scorpion in busch gardens tampa i also have a soft spot for because it was the first roller coaster i ever went on.

that's all i've got for myself! what about you guys?

My first roller coaster was the Big Dipper at Geauga Lake, right here in Ohio. Was in the 5th grade. Shame that park is gone now.

Then I remember the first time I went to Cedar Point. Driving up the causeway, and there it is. Pure beauty. Best amusement park in the world.

I loved roller-coasters as a kid and would frequently go on the one at Boomer's...well, until the nearest place shut down, and now the nearest one is an hour's drive away. But I'll go on just about any ride as long as there are people beside me. Y'know, because we're nakama so we drag each other to the graves.

I loooove roller coasters. It's funny because until I was 10 I was TERRIFIED of roller coasters. I sobbed like a baby in line when I was about to ride my first roller coaster, which was the Dragon coaster at legoland. Now I'm a coaster freak lol. I just don't like ones that are super tall. Fast ones, twisty ones, upside down ones, ill ride them- but not if theyre insanely tall like the ones at six flags!

Sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't. I don't know...I tend to be daring when it comes to coasters, but my anxiety towards heights overcomes though lol

Two years ago I rode The Mamba, in Kansas City. one of the tallest roller coasters in North America. It was the thrill of the lifetime for me but DAMN IT WAS GREAT. I'd ride it again, but only when I'm more daring lmao.

I've been on several rides, but I don't think I've ever actually been on a roller coaster. I'm sort of scared to try riding one because I get nauseous pretty easily, but I'd give one a try if I'm in the right mood.

There's nothing I won't ride but I really like the scary carnival rides that are most likely super dangerous because there's actual risk involved with them. Its thrilling. I know one day that's gonna come back to bite me but I aint gonna stop. The best of those is the double ferris wheel.

Is that even still there? Busch Gardens used to be my playground as a kid. Would get those Florida resident passes. The Scorpion was also my first coaster for that reason, but it was very lame to me. I've always preferred Kumba.

By the way, the coaster that the OP posted a picture of, it's so tall you can see the curvature of the earth.

    Oh, and sometimes this happens...

No, that's not the perfect shot. That's just the train stuck at the top.

i love roller coasters! some of my favorites are from six flags (there are a lot of six flags out there still..i thought they all changed to darien lake), like the batman related ones and just the super crazy ones. i also love ones from darien lake, seabreeze (a..new york/northern? water park), and kings dominion. i love the really high ones and the fast ones. one of my absolute favorite ones is the crazy music train thing from seabreeze and the screaming eagle from seabreeze. those are the first roller coasters that come to mind when i think of them.

as far as i know, yes the scorpion is still there. i don't know if they have any plans to take it down. it's still a popular ride for rollercoaster fans and beginners. it's a classic schwarzkopf coaster, and not a lot of those are around anymore.

    I love them.

It's become a yearly thing that Morkula, Nolafus, and I go to theme parks and ride roller coasters together. Wicked came once, though he's part of our bigger get together. We've tried to get others to come with us, but plans fall through.

Yeah but after they took down the Python I don't trust they'll let anything stay. I mean that was their first coaster. Nothing is sacred. I'm just glad I can say I got to ride it.

I've never gone on a roller coaster, but the fact that you hear people screaming is definitely enough to turn me off from it. I hate travelling at insanely fast speeds as well, since it makes me feel ill.

no. just no. not bc i'm a wuss or anything but bc i had the worst experience being 'broken in' to rollercoasters - my first experience on one was in phantasialand in germany as part of a school trip, and there was this one ride that our teacher insisted all of us had to go on. it was one of the ones that drops you, except indoors and in a pitch black room. like... i wasn't even slightly prepared. couldn't she have taken me on a ghost train first or smth?? now i just avoid all rollercoasters as a general rule bc of the memory of how much that one shocked me lol
