Takumi Makkusu - Can't Come Up With A Title

Nami tries to cheer me up after my attempted failure. At least she'll win herself a prize. I watch as Nami attempts to knock down the tower of cans. Three times, three times she misses. She too is discouraged from her failure. How does a strong Yokai miss the tower of cans three times? She must've taken a dive for me... I'll play along.

"Well, there's always next time," I reply, showing off a little smile. Well anyway, what else to do... I'm hungry. "Let's get some cotton candy!" I suggest, already taking a head start. While we head for the food counter, should I explain my thoughts about having Yokai blood within me? Perhaps when I see it's the right time, yeah.

I should have enough money to buy Nami & I some cotton candy. Let's see...I have more than enough! Sweet!

Watching Lerion play the game and win more stuffed... Things... I gave the rest of the event an examining glance. A certain scent caught my attention and made my stomach feel a bit more empty. ("Do you smell that too?") I asked Luna, decidedly following the scent. Finding its source, I sat at a tall stool in front of a booth. "Excuse me... What am I smelling here?"

"What? You're Japanese and you've never heard of Raamen?" The cook gave me a head-cocked look of confusion.

I matched his look by cocking my head as well. "Jya-pa-ni-su...?"

"Err- Ni-hon."

"I worship the moon, not the sun. Why would I care about its origin?"

"Uh--" The man just stared, bewildered at me. He attempted to say something, but didn't, and just scratched his chin for a few moments. "... Nevermind. This is Ramen. Raamen."

"Raa-me-n?"

"Right, right! It's noodles in--"

"Noodles?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"Yeah. Noodles in hot broth with different meats and herbs mixed in."

"Uh... Broth?"

The man seemed to be losing his patience, his hand dragging slowly down his face. "Look, I'll just make you a bowl, alright?"

"Bowl?"

The man looked almost infuriated until he realized I was genuinely confused. "Ehh-- It doesn't matter. What kind do you want? We've got beef, shrimp, chicken, miso special, pork..." My blank stare seemed to give him his answer. "I'll make you Shrimp Ramen then..." After a few minutes in the back of the booth, the man came back with a bowl of Ramen and a pair of chopsticks. I picked up the chopsticks and looked to the man, expecting some sort of explanation.

After being taught how to use them, I dipped them into the ramen and took my first bite. "This is... Different from rabbit or elk... Very different."

"Uh, yeah... Ya like it?"

I finished chewing and swallowed another bite before pausing for a few moments. "It's... One of the most delicious things I've ever tasted."

"Well, that's good, kid. Ya think yer little friend over there wants some too?"

I turned, realizing he was referring to Luna. I nodded and gestured for her to come over as the man prepared another bowl.

It didn't take long for Sagishi to lose his guide, and with him, any hopes of getting anywhere. "Welp--" Sagishi looked around - or rather, motioned as if he had looked around - before sighing. "I'm lost again. Any ideas, mate?"

"Make yourself a cane so you can feel around and not run into people?"

"... I know you're mocking me, but that's actually not a bad idea." Sagishi's hands began glowing as he held them toward the ground, generating a nice black cane made of metal and grabbing the grip end. "It's a start, I guess."

"Huh... I didn't think you'd actually do it."

"Meh." Sagishi began walking through the festival, doing slightly better with the cane. "Watcha wanna bet you gotta see to play these games."

"Hmm... Knock over bottles, hit targets, toss rings, shoot hoops... Yup, you gotta see for 'em."

"My bloody luck..." Sagishi held his hands in a cup in front of his mouth, shouting "Would anybody here have a bloody open schedule to help a blind kid around!?"

Nami Kyuuketsuki
Chapter 3: The spy of Fairytale.
Scoolgrounds

Takumi said that there was always next time after Nami purposely missed all the towers made of cans. She smiled softly as she saw him smiling as well. "Let's get some cotton candy!" he suggested. He already seemed a bit happier now despite his loss, he was still acting a bit hyper though. "H-Hey! Wait for me..." Nami shouted as Takumi was already walking towards the counter. She followed him and tried to keep up with him.

"Shall we sit over there after we got the cotton candies...?" Nami pointed at a bench a bit away from the festive activities. They should be able to talk there since Nami wants to ask him something. She stood behind Takumi as they arrived at the counter.

Takumi Makkusu - My Thoughts

Will cotton candy really be enough to quench my hunger? Maybe I should get something to drink as well...later! As we near the counter, Nami points out where we can sit & eat. A bench away from the festive activities. Normally I'd get flustered thinking about being with Nami alone, but this is a good time for us to talk. I nod to Nami in response to her suggestion & then get us some cotton candy. I give her the pink one while I keep the blue one. We head to the bench & sit together.

I take my first bite of the cotton candy. It's just like how it is in my world, no, the real deal. "..." How should I start...? "Well...um. Hmm... You remember how I have Yokai blood in me? Your blood?" I begin without looking at Nami, rather, I look straight from the bench, "At first I was shocked. I had a fear of monsters since I was a child. I know for a fact that I'm afraid of dying. I guess what I'm saying is...if there is something, or someone, I wish to protect, I would risk my life for anything. When I think about the blood within me, I think maybe I can use this to fight, fight for the ones I love so I'm not just a burden in battle." I can feel a massive blush appear on my face, but I pay no mind to it, "I'm only afraid of monsters, Yokai, if they threaten me."

I bite my cotton candy again & swallow. What else to say... "Now that I think about it, I feel like a different person. It could be the blood within me, but I don't think so. I'm sure that, throughout my few adventures, I've learned to grow & change. Little by little, I can change. My resolve..." My resolve...

"...is to learn about Yokai, & to live peacefully. In fact..." I want both humans & Yokai to merge & live together peacefully, but it's almost impossible, "...no, that's my whole resolve." I wonder if my resolve is really strong. Living in Yokai Academy is the only way I can be sure.

Nothing will get in the way of my resolve. Not even Fairytale!

Allister Curtis

Allister smiled as Cheryll's arms left him, it was hard he realised to imagine how he'd ever done without close friendships such as theirs before.
"The girls dorms or near the library. Got it. I'll be back pretty quick with your charm and then we can go out to the festival and actually enjoy ourselves for a change."
Honestly, I was just going to ditch the festival and do some more training or study – but the break might do me good and the company and fun will definitely be good for Cheryll.

Allister flashed another smile at Cheryll before he headed out of the cafeteria, depositing his now empty breakfast dishes on the dirty-dishes rack as he did so. He left the main building at a fairly brisk walk, nothing too fast but fast enough to be considered hurrying. Allister figured that it was still early so Janie would probably be heading to her gang's usual hangout from her dorm, if not he'd turn back because she'd already be there.
Unless she's somewhere at the festival… then things could be a bit more difficult

Allister crossed the grounds, ignoring the noise from the various festival goers enjoying the sun, company and games a breeze running over him as he went. It wasn't too long before he reached the girls' dormitory – he couldn't go inside of course but if Janie was hanging about he'd find her easy enough. He waited a short while until eventually a group of girls ready for the festival emerged.
"Excuse me" he interrupted their mindless babbling "Have any of you seen a girl names Janie around? She's about your age, average height, brown hair and she's a total ***** if that helps." The little clique laughed at his description of the bully
"She left earlier" a girl with hair died a bubblegum pink and a sickly sweet voice answered "she sometimes hangs out by the library but she could have gone to the fair. Why are you looking for her if you hate her so much?"
"She has something that doesn't belong to her, if you see her let her know I'm looking for her would you?"

With that being sorted Allister headed back across the grounds, again avoiding the festivities walking back into the main school building and through the halls he soon found himself near the area Cheryll had described. Nobody was there.
"Ah crap… She must be at the festival somewhere. Great."

Allister ran back out into the fresh air, he wanted to sort this quickly so he and Cheryll could enjoy the rest of the day with their friends but he was now running through a thick crowd of yokai students. Many of whom were in their yokai appearances rather than humanoid.
"If she's not looking human I'm never going to find her." It was then that the idea struck him, Allister decided there to look for someone else first.
Thankfully, finding his latest target was easier. A larger wolfy yokai in the school uniform – although one altered to have "tails" was standing around looking quizzically. Luthas, who Allister couldn't help but look at with disdain, walking in the opposite direction.
"Yorick!" Allister called out, walking up to his furry friend "Sorry to interrupt you in the midst of thinking about something – it's still so easy to tell when you're lost in thought by the way – but can you help me find someone with that nose of yours? I need to find Janie, you know the girl who has been tormenting Cheryll? She's made off with the charm I made and I'm going to get it back, but I have not even the faintest idea where she is."

Takumi nodded in agreement on Nami's idea. He paid for the cotton candies and gave her the pink one while keeping the blue one. Nami glanced at his face and as she found herself doing this, she looked away with a slight blush, ripping a piece of the cotton candy and sticking it in her mouth. They walked towards the bench that Nami had recommended and sat down there. It was quiet for a brief moment. Just when Nami was about to break the awkward silence between them, Takumi opened his mouth and spoke.

"Well...um. Hmm... You remember how I have Yokai blood in me? Your blood?" Takumi began. He didn't look at her and stared straight at the bench. Nami looked up at him a bit in surprise and hoped that it wasn't bothering him. "At first I was shocked. I had a fear of monsters since I was a child. I know for a fact that I'm afraid of dying. I guess what I'm saying is...if there is something, or someone, I wish to protect, I would risk my life for anything. When I think about the blood within me, I think maybe I can use this to fight, fight for the ones I love so I'm not just a burden in battle." Nami saw a huge blush appearing on his face and easily found out that when he said "fight for the ones I love" he was referring to her. A huge blush appeared on her face as well after she found out and immediately looked away.

"I'm only afraid of monsters, Yokai, if they threaten me." After he said that he took a moment to take a bite of his cotton candy. It was quiet again even after he swallowed the piece of cotton candy but he soon spoke again. "Now that I think about it, I feel like a different person. It could be the blood within me, but I don't think so. I'm sure that, throughout my few adventures, I've learned to grow & change. Little by little, I can change. My resolve... is to learn about Yokai, & to live peacefully. In fact..." he got quiet again and seemed to be thinking about something before ending his sentence with "...no, that's my whole resolve."

Nami slowly tried to look back at him and smiled. "I-I'm glad... that you think of it like that." she said quietly with a small smile appearing on her lips. He indeed seemed to have changed a bit but perhaps it's only natural after getting into a school like this. "My blood will leave your body once it's been fully cleaned by your human organs so you don't have to worry about it if you still do." Nami said. She felt kinda sad because she was hiding the truth from him. If she would inject him with her blood frequently then it could be dangerous for him. There was only a 1% chance that he would turn into a Vampire like her, the other 99% could make him a Ghoul. A creature created from humans who had too much Vampire blood in them. She didn't want him to turn in one, especially since it was almost impossible to turn him back after that.

"I want humans and Youkai to be able to live alongside peacefully once again like how we did in the past." Nami spoke as she finished her cotton candy and licked her fingers to clean them from the sticky texture. She looked at Takumi and smiled again. "You indeed have changed a bit... when you just entered school you were afraid of everyone here but now... now you seem to feel more at ease here." Nami said. "Maybe you don't feel completely at ease here but you make little steps everytime. Today you even... a-asked one out..." Nami finished. Saying that reminded her of a question that she had kept asking inside her head.

"U-Uhm... you know..." Nami looked at the bench this time and blushed as she wanted to ask something but wasn't sure how. "D-Does this mean... y-you know, we..." Nami started playing with her hair which was in a ponytail with her bangs sticking out but gently laying on her left shoulder. The stuttering made herself crazy but spitting it out could possibly scare him. "D-Does this all mean... t-that we're boyfriend and girlfriend now...?" Nami asked really quietly, secretly hoping that he hadn't heard anything at all but also hoping that he did now that she had the nerve to actually ask it.

Luna watched Lerion trying to impress the other girl within the group and wondered if this was the girl that he concidered his "soulmate". Luna's thoughts were interfered when Yami asked her something. ("Do you smell that too?") he asked as he seemingly followed his nose towards the place that was creating the scent. "Excuse me... What am I smelling here?" He asked a man behind a counter at some shop. Nami stood a bit away from them but was still able to hear what they were saying.

"What? You're Japanese and you've never heard of Raamen?" the man gave him a look of confusion. Appearenly they looked like some kind of race or something. Yami seemed to be just as confused about the word as Luna was. "Jya-pa-ni-su...?" he tried imitating the word. "Err- Ni-hon." the man said, confusing the poor Luna and Yami even more. "I worship the moon, not the sun. Why would I care about its origin?" Yami bluntly spoke. The man just stared at him and seemed to have lost track of the conversation. "... Nevermind. This is Ramen. Raamen." he decided to change the topic. "Raa-me-n?" Yami imitated again. "Right, right! It's noodles in--" before the man could finish, Yami interupted him. "Noodles?" He asked curious. "Yeah. Noodles in hot broth with different meats and herbs mixed in." the man explained. "Uh... Broth?" Yami seemed confused again. The man dragged his hand slowly down his face and seemed a bit annoyed. "Look, I'll just make you a bowl, alright?"

"Bowl?" Luna noticed that this made the man a bit angry but soon enough he just let it slide. Luna had an awkward smile on her face as the man made him something that they called "Raamen" here. There was a lot they had to learn and Luna already had realized this. The man gave Yami a bowl and started eating. "This is... Different from rabbit or elk... Very different." he commented.

"Uh, yeah... Ya like it?" he asked her. Yami replied, "It's... One of the most delicious things I've ever tasted."

"Well, that's good, kid. Ya think yer little friend over there wants some too?" the man asked her. Yami turned around and gestured to Luna to come over. Luna nodded and sat down next to him. Looking at the bowl as the man gave her one. Luna carefully took a bite but soon started eating faster until the bowl was empty. She held it up towards the man and asked him with general cute looking face and sparkling eyes, "Can I have seconds, please?"

"Can I have seconds, please?"

I looked to Luna as she held her bowl up. We can do that?? I held my bowl up as well, imitating the way she held hers. "Yes... Seconds!"

The man looked at the both of them, sighing before grabbing both bowls and taking them into the back while he prepared more. "I, uh... I'm not supposed to give anyone more than one bowl for free, but... Ah well." After a minute or two, he returned to the front of the booth and placed a bowl in front of each of them. "If you're lookin' for more food, you might wanna check the other booths. You're only supposed to get one try on each game, and one serving of the foods."

I immediately began eating, the use of chopsticks much easier for my first time thanks to high dexterity training and deftness. Once finished, I put down the empty bowl and let out a content sigh. "That was also very good, but different."

"It's beef," the man replied.

Yami did the same as Luna and held his bowl above his head like Luna did. The cook took both bowls and made them some more. He told them that he was actually only allowed to give them one for free but gave them another one anyway. Yami started eating already and was soon finished. Luna kept staring at hers and started eating after a while as well.

"Ohh!~ I like this one!" Luna said satisfied as she finished her bowl. "It's beef." she heard the cook answer Yami and looked at her bowl. She wanted to ask for another one but didn't want to be rude. "Hey let's trade! This little yellow stone for another bowl of beef... how do you call it... Raamon?" Luna took out a small Topaz and showed it to the cook with a hopeful look on her face. She was definitely getting addicted to this kind of food.

Ryuu Higoroshi & Divine
Chapter 3: 3C's Homeroom teacher
Schoolgrounds.

Ryuu slowly opened his sleepy eyes as he woke up. He found Divine all cuddled against him and still sleeping and decided to let it stay that way. He smiled as he pecked her forehead and took a glance at the alarm clock, finding out that it was 11.45 am already... "Oh god... I overslept..." He whined quietly but it was enough noise for Divine to wake up. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up." He apologized as he sat up and got out of bed. Divine took a glance at the alarm clock as well and saw the time. "It's alright, it's late..." Divine smiled at Ryuu who looked away with a slight blush across his cheeks, being completely tsundere like he always is.

"Y-Yeah, well, I have to attend the festival." He said as he got his uniform and got himself dressed. "Lemme come along!" Divine hopped out of bed and easily got into her female teacher's uniform. "Let's go!~" Divine grabbed Ryuu's hand and dragged him outside the dorms. "But! Oh nevermind..." Ryuu dragged his hand slowly down his face and followed her to the festival.

Once arrived there he saw a few surprising things. He saw Luna and Yami, in their human forms, sitting by a Ramen shop. He saw a healthy looking Nami and Takumi sitting together at a bench, which relieved him because this meant Nami would drink blood again. He also saw Sorae on an ostrich and Lerion trying to impress Milly.

"Sagishi is nowhere to be found..." Ryuu whispered as he narrowed his eyes to search around for him. "Is that a good thing?" Divine asked him after seeing a satisfied smile appearing on his face. "Of course that's a good thing! Then he won't give any troubles today." Ryuu grabbed Divine's hand, something he usually wouldn't do and started walking around.

"Eh... Sorry, kid," the man replied, "I can't do trades. Besides, there's plenty of other food you can go try, don't fill up on just ramen!"

"I agree," I said calmly as I stood up. After a polite bow to the chef, I continued through the carnival. I caught sight of the leader guy who visited Luna and myself with Lerion, but disregarded him and whoever he was with entirely. I smelled something and headed towards that booth, sitting and looking to the chef of this stand, a young and chirpy-looking girl.

"Elephant ears?" She asked in a tone that implied that she was offering them.

"What's an elephant...? And why would I want its ear...?"

"N-no...?" She giggled lightly. "They're not actually elephant ears, they're just named that because they're shaped like elephant ears, silly. Want one? They're really gooooooooood~!"

I motioned to Luna, then nodded. "My friend would like to try one too," I said as I leaned on elbows over the counter.

"Oooooooooooh~!" The girl swooned in place with this goofy-looking smile. "She's your girlfriend, yeah?"

Confused by the motion, I was silent for several moments before speaking. "She is a friend, and she is a girl, so I guess so... Whatever that means."

"Awwwwwwwwwww! Well I'm going to make these ones heart-shaped for you lovebirds!" She hurriedly rushed into the back to begin cooking.

"We're not birds," I said plainly as she left. Then I turned to Luna. "Why would she shape them like a heart? It seems irrelevant. What does pumping blood have to do with food? Or friends?"

Tetsu and Yorick

Yorick wandered around the festival seeking his friends, as he did so recieving strange glances from the surrounding people. His bulky lupine form was a sharp contrast to his opulent and decorative clothing. Yorick, however, wasn't aware of this contrast so he couldn't figure out why people were staring. He continued his search, constantly getting distracted by interesting games, items, food, and other events that filled the festival grounds. He only wished he was with someone like Allister or Luthas who could explain it to him.

Continuing to wander, Yorick happened upon a gathering of people in front of a large stretch of empty land. Many of them were werewolves like himself, but there were all sorts of other Youkai, many that he didn't recognize. He was curious about the numbers many of them wore over their chests. He wondered if he should be with all these other Werewolves, but he didn't remember being told that any of these events were mandatory. He needed an explanation.

Walking around the festival soon began to bore Kotetsu. So far, he hadn't found any competitions that sparked his interests. He continued to walk until he noticed a large number of Werewolves around what seemed to be some tracks. Maybe it was a competition? He approached one of them.

"Excuse me but would you be so kind as to tell me what's going on here?"

The Werewolf looked at him with a smile. "We're holding a race with some werewolves now. Would you want to join?"

He thought for a second and decided to give it a go. "Sure, put me in." He then transformed into his Youkai form for the race.

Yorick saw another Werewolf approach the group and ask one of the other Werewolves the question in his own mind. So this was a race? That didn't make any sense. Races were something that attributed to people. He pulled out his dictionary from his bag to try and find another definition for "race", but he was interrupted by the same Werewolf that had explained things to the newcomer.

"What about you, you wanna join?"

Yorick looked at him for a moment before concluding that if he joined, he would figure out what this race was, so he nodded in agreement. "Hello, I am Yorick Amherst Lee, and this event intrigues me. Could you explain it?"

"Well, it's just a regular race. Not much else too it, really." He turned to address both him and the newcomer. "I'll just write you two in, and here's your numbers." He then handed both of them a number. Imitating the people around him, Yorick stuck the "28" on his chest. The supervising wolf then left them, leaving Yorick's question unanswered. The other boy seemed to know all about it, though.

Yorick walked over to the other boy. "Hello, I am Yorick Amherst Lee. Can you explain this 'race' to me?"

Kotetsu looked as a boy approached him and introduced himself. "Hello, I am Kotetsu but just call me Tetsu." An explanation for the race? Well how to tell the boy he had none? "Actually, it's just a normal race with people running against each other in order to get the first place. Ever heard of a normal race?"

"People running? What is this first place they have to get to? Why are they going there?" It was nice to finally have someone to answer his questions, but as usual, answers brought about more questions.

Tetsu smiled at the boy, it seemed like he never heard of the term race before. "Yes, people run against each other to see who's the fastest among them. The first place is the sign of victory."

Yorick rubbed his chin pensively, something he'd seen Luthas do. He wasn't entirely sure what the purpose of it was, but he presumed it probably helped a person think. "I see. So it is sort of like a game, correct? And you win by reaching this sign the fastest? But if the sign is the first place, are there other signs representing the second and third places, and so on? But then why would only reaching the first sign grant victory? Hmm..." By this point, Yorick knew all he needed to know about this race, but nowhere near all he wanted to know.

Even more questions from the other Youkai. Was he really that ignorant about races and competitions in general? Sure they weren't popular among Youkai but still... "I didn't mean sign literally, I meant that it shows you won the race." He really hoped the boy would get his point.

Yorick stared at the other boy for a moment before letting out an understanding "Oh." Now he was confused as to where they needed to run to, but before he could ask the other boy more questions there was a loud voice that made an announcement.

"Contestants, the race will begin shortly. Move to your starting places and prepare to begin."

The other contestants moved to one place on the empty land and began to form a line. Yorick decided he should just follow, so he moved in the line next to a three-eyed Youkai on a horse. Nearby, Yorick noticed another Werewolf talking to who he assumed were his friends. The wolf was gesturing towards Yorick and saying, "Hey guys, check out fancypants over there. Think that Lord Woofington the Third can run?" Yorick figured that they must have confused him with someone else, a person named Lord Woofington with a mobility-inhibiting injury.

Tetsu took place on the line, near the guy who had been questioning him. He looked at him with a smile. "Don't listen to these guys making fun of you. I'm sure you're good at running." The guy really seemed to be at lost and didn't understand things quite well. "Hey, ever been in the human world?"

"Making fun of me?" Yorick looked confused. "As in speaking badly of me for their own amusement?" Fortunately, that was something he knew of. Allister had mentioned it to him many times in regards to Cheryll and Janie. He was still, however, unable to understand what the purpose of it was. "If they are indeed making fun, I am not sure it is me they are making the fun of." He then addressed the boy's other question. "On the subject of the human world, I was, in fact, born there. My origins are in the Boreal forest of Canada."

He prepared to stop the conversation, but he remembered something that Luthas had taught him. You can make an entire conversation out of questions. If someone asks you one, ask them another in return. Ask about something more personal than the questions you are used to, like what their favorite foods are, what music they like, where they are from, and other things like that. Indeed, the conversation had turned to where he was from (not where he immediately came from, but it still applied), the sort of personal question that Luthas had mentioned. He figured that it was a good enough question, so he asked him, "Where are you from?"

Tetsu looked over to the boy who looked kinda confused. Seems like he didn't know everything about human interaction. He felt like he could get along with him well. So he was born in the human world. He never ventured into the human world himself and he wondered what it looked like sometimes. He really hoped that, one day, he'd have the chance to visit it. "I was born in the Youkai universe and never been in the human world myself."

Yorick nodded in acknowledgement. Honestly, he was unsure of how to continue the conversation. Should he ask another question? He didn't have too many questions about that last statement and he wasn't as curious about people's personal lives as he was about other things. Perhaps he could ask more questions about the race. He prepared to ask another question, but before he could open his mouth he was interrupted by the sound of a megaphone, something he had researched before after his research on PA systems.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the supervisor began. "Welcome to what we hope is the first of many races today featuring the finest and the fastest Youkai this academy has to offer!" Looking around, Yorick noticed that there were people standing around the edges of the track having come to watch. Many of them cheered when that last line was said. "Now, this race will be a quick 50 lap race with no room for error with monsters this fast! Now are you ready for this fast-paced struggle?" Again, there was more cheering. It appeared that instead of offering proper responses to the man's words, cheering was the preferred option. Of course, if everyone spoke at once there would be no way he would understand them, so using a seemingly universal gesture was a very good alternative.

"Racers," He continued, Yorick realizing that included him. "On your marks," Marks? What marks? "Get set," Oh, they were to prepare to begin running. Yorick's suspicions were confirmed when he saw the other Youkai taking stances to sprint or otherwise move quickly. "GO!!!"

Tetsu was fully ready for the beginning of the race. When the guy talked on the PA, he took his stance and prepared himself to run. He really hoped the other guy wouldn't have any problems on the race. When he heard the supervisor yell "GO!!", he took off as fast as he could. He was kinda having fun in the race by speeding through. It seemed that most of them were slower than him. And the guy he just met wasn't like that. At some point, the both of them were actually tied up for the first place.

Yorick was enjoying the race very much. It was different running on a track rather than in a forest, but not quite in a negative way. Actually, it would probably be boring if he weren't competing against others with speed that nearly matched his own and some that did match it. Even during the day, there was nothing in the forest he grew up in that could match his speed, and at the academy the only person who could so far was Oz, and even then he was unable to deflect all of Yorick's stirkes. Yorick became curious how a race like would feel under a full moon.

Losing himself in his thoughts, Yorick didn't notice the other Werewolves from earlier who were talking about Lord Woofington the Third. One of them turned to the other and said, "Fancypants is way fast. It pisses me off that some people get all of it; money, talent, friends..." It seemed that the wolf was unaware that Yorick didn't have a cent to his name. The image Yorick projected had touched a personal nerve with the boy, though. "Let's teach him that life isn't exactly a cakewalk, even for people like him."

"How are you gonna do that, Raz?" asked the Werewolf next to him.

Raz didn't answer, but instead acted on his plan immediately. He abruptly changed direction and rammed into his companion at high speed, propelling him forward and straight into the distracted Yorick. After the strike, he fell to the ground, trying to pass the incident off as a trip. Once commotion started, however, Yorick turned and saw the other boy careening towards him. He turned and jumped high up over him, but since he was no longer moving forward the other racers caught up. He was forced to dodge each of them to avoid being hit and was, in the end, left behind them all.

Tetsu watched how they seemed to take revenge on the other guy simply because he was faster and probably richer than them. Although he could have easily kept his pace, he felt he couldn't leave the other like this. He slowed down to reach him. "Need a hand buddy?"

Yorick saw how Tetsu slowed down until he reached him and didn't understand why. The purpose of a race was to be the first one, correct? He was quite strange. "No, I have both of my hands and do not need any others." He briefly recalled the tail-hand from the creature he ate last week but quickly put it out of his mind. He honestly doubted that Tetsu had a stash of hands as snacks.

"Ooooh, a bad trip from number 24 puts number 28 way in the back!" The supervisor who had also been commenting on the race addressed the recent events, shouting enthusiastically. "And... what's this? His only rival for first has gone back with him! Unbelievable! But with the race almost over, not even speed demons like those two can make it to first. Or can they?"

"Most likely not," answered Yorick in response to what was probably a rhetorical question. "But I think it would be interesting to see how close I can get. I've never been able to properly evaluate my speed and this is a wonderful and enjoyable way to do so." His desire to know more propelled him forward and he ran, seeing if it was, in fact, possible for him to catch up.

Tetsu smiled at Yorick's determination. That was quite good to see. Tetsu decided to enjoy the end of the race and test his own limits. He ran as fast as he could, enjoying the wind blowing on his face and trying to reach the first place.

"And there we have it, folks! Despite an impressive recovery from this race's fan favorites, the winner is number 19, [Whoever you decide]!" The crowd made a commotion, different people making different gestures this time. Some cheered while others made a 'Boo' noise. "Looks like pulling a miracle like that was just too much for them! Well, that's it for this race. Come back for the next one in another hour for more close calls, lightning-fast action, and festival fun!" This time, there was only cheering from the crowd. One supervisor, a different one from the first, came to the winner to give him what looked like a necklace with a big metal circle, and other supervisors came to the rest of them to retrieve the contestant numbers.

Yorick turned to Tetsu and said, "That was quite enjoyable, but I should probably continue searching for my friends." He looked thoughtful for a moment before he said, "You are my friend now as well, are you not?" Indeed, one of the definitions of 'friend' was one who gives assistance, and he had aided him in informing him of the race. He also fit the definition of one who is not hostile, although in the last week he had been taught that friends were more than just inhostile people.

"Well if you don't mind, I'd like to be your friend indeed!" That was quite good for him to make a friend so soon. Maybe he wouldn't be always alone after all. "Do you mind if I accompany you while you're searching for your friends." Yorick nodded in approvement and Tetsu smiled, he really made a new friend!

Sorae Kakori Jenai

Sorae's level of hope was low. He was in a waiting area, sitting on a bench waiting for the final verdict. The crowd had been told there was an "intermission" until the judges made a choice, where the victor of each category would be crowned and left to a secondary round if they wished, but risk losing their winnings. If he in fact was given the chance to go into the second round, Sorae did not have anything worth entering; the komodo dragon, who was one of his only chances, probably wouldn't listen anyways. Worthless.

He glanced towards the others in the room. Many other Yasha were there. Sorae shuddered; it was good to know he wasn't alone, but he had never been with so many of the same specie at once. He began to bite his thumb nervously, but he realized that many of the others weren't worried; instead, they were pumped. It seemed like they had everything down. But he didn't. He was probably screwed. If he won the first round- if he won, what would he do then? What was the prize anyways? Should he go to the second round, and what was in it for him? He looked around again. Suddenly, over the makeshift PA system of this... tent near the field where the competition, a voice began to speak.

"All competitors are requested to return to the field at this time. All spectators are requested to return to the bleachers as well."

Sorae began to walk. The many animals that had been summoned were still on the field, and the judges seemed pleased by their decision. Whatever that decision is, anyways... He crossed his fingers desperately. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to win or not, but he certainly wanted it to be over.

"The winners will now be announced." The announcer began to read off the names; Sorae didn't care about the names. The first one... wait, what?!

Sorae stood up and walked on the platform, already having the most adorable creature; the kitten which he had to pick up. Some Lycans and whatnot booed from the stands; Sorae shuddered. The second one wasn't him... the fourth one wasn't him... the fifth one wasn't him... and the third one... Wait, what kind of competition would leave the third for last?! Regardless, this one wasn-

You're serious?! He was surprised when the announcer called him again, this time for the deadliest creature. He picked it up, and noticed many of the other Yasha were surprised as well. This thing isn't deadly... I mean seriously, it's just a... His eyes widened, and he grinned. The small thing he had in his hand certainly could pack a punch. It looked at him with it's beady amphibious eyes. This one, he realized, was different, which he hadn't realized before. The crowd cheered with enthusiasm; the Lycans did not boo and some in fact cheered. Sorae waved.

"The Golden Poison Frog, or Golden Dart Frog, or Golden Poison Dart Frog, with enough toxin to kill ten to twenty humans or ten thousand mice; easily the deadliest here..." He muttered under his breath.

The secondary round began without Sorae. He dropped out due to a lack of confidence in the battle capabilities of his summoned creature, and instead gained an immense amount of funds which the true value of will never be questioned, because you can rest assured it's too much to spend all in one year. This was due to winning two spots instead of one, which was apparently extremely uncommon. But honestly, he didn't know what to do with the funds, and as he walked around he hummed to himself quietly.

I moved through the crowd the girl following behind me. Occasionally I was stopped by people who were envious of my strength. "My name is Oriana by the way." The girl said, "What's yours?"

"My name is Frio." I answered.

"Odd name, doesn't that mean cold?"

"It was a nickname I was given back in America because I could go outside during the winter wearing summer clothes, and I've used it since I forgot my real name."

"Forgetting your real name? That doesn't even make sense, don't your parents call you by your real name?"

"My parents were pretty ignorant of me, they probably said my name six times in their whole life." I said dismissively, "I actually consider my sister to be closer, and she calls me Frio."

"That's pretty sad." She said quietly, "Me and my parents have always been close..."

"There he is!" I said, "Sorry to interrupt, but I made Sagashi a promise." I walked up to him and tapped his shoulder, "Sorry for leaving you, but I found someone who can help us."

"Oriana." She said politely.

Yorick continued to search for his friends, this time with Tetsu, when he succeeded. In part, at least. "Yorick!" he heard call out to him from a short distance. He turned to see Allister walking up to him. It seemed that Allister needed him to use his nose to find Janie, who had taken his charm. He normally found things with the thing in question's scent rather than his nose, but he supposed that he used his nose to find the scent to begin with. More importantly was the fact that Allister's charm was gone. He called the definition to mind, his vocabulary now being much more vast than the previous week. Charm: A power of pleasing or attracting, as through personality or beauty. If Allister's charm was gone, then it was indeed a dire situation.

"It is good to see you, Allister. I would be more than happy to help you find your charm." Not burdened by questions this time, Yorick was able to focus on etiquette; something he had forgotten when speaking to Tetsu. Luthas taught him that phrase, but he failed to see the sense in the phrase 'more than happy'. There were many words that meant similar things to happy, only with happiness being more or less than the amount connoted in the word happy, but no matter how much more happy one was, they would still merely be more happy, not more than happy. Regardless, Luthas knew much more on the matter than he, so he supposed that it had to be right, no matter how much sense it made.

Yorick tried to focus on the matter at hand. "I would need some way to recall her scent to mind, as it is not as familiar to me as yours or Cheryll's." He turned to Tetsu and said, "Would you like to help me?" A question occurred to him, though. He addressed Allister once more. "Allister, how does one make charm, and how is it stolen?" Charm was a power and was thus not exactly tangible, so how can something intangible be created and taken?

Takumi Makkusu - What Now?

I see Nami accepts my ideal ways of thinking. I'm glad this whole issue is now past us. It feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can finally feel at ease. I know I go to a school full of monsters, but let a guy be happy once in a while! Seriously.

Nami's talking about me now. That's kind of embarrassing I feel myself blushing again. She's praising me. It's nice, b-but please stop soon...! Would a...um, that action stop her? Nah, to shy to do it!

Before I knew it, Nami throws out the most surprising question as far as I know, "D-Does this all mean... t-that we're boyfriend and girlfriend now...?" I was at a loss of words. If I mess this up for better or worse, things will definitely change. How to go about this. Just say, 'Yes, it means that!', 'Of course it does.', 'Uh-huh.', 'Yes, yes, yes!'? ...

My only response is a nod, & hide my face with the cotton candy. I'm never that good being straight-forward, even during my younger days. If that's the case, my cheery scene earlier totally questions my personality. Just means I'm changing I guess, one step at a time.

Rather than gicing Nami a proper response on her question, Takumi responsed with a nod as he hid his face a bit with a blush. Nami glanced at him and blushed as well, not knowing what to say so waiting for Takumi to finish his cotton candy. Nami, however, was rather thirsty... thirsty for blood. "C-Can we go get something to drink? I-I... I need blood." Nami asked shyly. "I heard that every food and drink is free at the first try." Nami said as she stood up. "O-Oh and..." Nami turned around to not have to look at Takumi and said quietly, "... I-I love you."

With that she blushed even more and clenched her fists. She actually said it and found it an achievement. Nami closed her eyes and took a deep breath but when she opened those chocolate brown eyes again a boy stood in front of her. "Hello there." He spoke with a large grin across his face. Nami was startled and took a few steps back, widening her eyes as she saw the fellow Vampire. "I'm sorry for my rudeness, I just thought you might want better company." He gently bowed. "My name is Hayate Kyuukets-" Nami interupted his introduction, "I know who you are, idiot!". Hayate summoned a small grin on his face. "C'mon Maya, I wasn't introducing to you but to your boyfriend here." Hayate approached Takumi and held out a hand in front of him.

"I'm Hayate Kyuuketsuki. Maya here is my little sister." Hayate gave him a gentle smile as he looked as confident as he could with his crimson red eyes. "It's Nami... not Maya..." Nami replied stubborn but was ignored. "What Youkai are you?" Hayate asked Takumi curiously.

"Hmm... how unpleasant." The green haired lady spoke as she glanced at the schoolgrounds where currently the festive activities for the "Youkai Festival" were being held. "Maybe I'll let Raka have some fun here tomorrow." She grinned gently as she rubbed her hair out of her face. "I wouldn't want to mess up there happiness anyway~ Well... maybe a little bit but not now."

She looked around while standing behind a tree with her slim body and saw the Vampire girl that she beated up the other day together with the human boy and... some other Vampire. She saw the Yuki-onno from the other day playing with a Neko and some other students that were probably part of Ryuu's class. "So those are the teenagers that have to protect humanity?" Lady Reiza laughed. "Well... Since it's Ryuu I shouldn't underestimate them." Lady Reiza saw a Yasha walking away from some event and saw a Lycan trying to impress a Werewolf girl.

"Hmmm... what an interesting bunch." Lady Reiza promptly left the sidelines and walked back into the forest without looking back or even worrying about being seen.

Takumi Makkusu - Unexpected Surprises

I finish my cotton candy, focusing on the taste & trying to ignore the fact that I'm blushing in front of Nami. I have butterflies in my stomach, but at least they can fly & will enjoy the cotton candy I just ate. Nami asks if we could get something to drink, so of course I knew she needs blood. I thought she got enough from me. Well, I suppose I don't know how Yokais' stomachs work. She as I get up to walk to a food counter, Nami says she loves me, unexpected. Stunned I was. We are going out now, but I still can't get used to it. "S-shut up..." I stutter quietly, looking away. I've never had a girlfriend before, so I don't know how this works much.

Just before we even take a step, I only take two, someone stands in front of Nami. He looks like a jerk. He bows to Nami, & I'm thinking he needs an update between Nami & I. "I know who you are, idiot!" She knows who this guy is?! He corrects her, testifying that his greeting was towards me, her boyfriend. Has he been eavesdropping on us?

He calls himself Hayate Kyuuketsuki. Turns out he's Maya's big brother. Nami doesn't like being called Maya. Is Maya her real name? I'll ask her about that at a later time. I shake Hayate's hand, he asks me what Yokai I am, I freak inside. Note to self: have an Yokai alibi. I need one now too. Think, Tak, think! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

"My name is Takumi Makkusu, & I'm...an Avian," I casually answer. An avian sounds cool. They're bird men, they have wings that can let me fly. Um, I hope I didn't just dig myself a grave. Anyway, I'm wondering about Hayate. I'm not gonna let him intimidate me so easily. With that cheesy grin, somehow this guy irritates me. "So what brings you here?" I ask. Nami never mentioned he had a brother, unless I don't remember. I also don't remember seeing Hayate anywhere at the academy. Wonder what his story is.

Luna followed Yami to another food stand. As he sat down, the girl asked him if he wanted some Elephant ears. Luna looked a bit confused. She sat down next to Yami and the girl asked him many weird questions. The conversation ended with her making heart shaped "Elephant ears". Luna stared weirdly at her and wondered what the heck was wrong with her attitude. She saw all cheerful and excited about Yami and her being friends.

"Why would she shape them like a heart? It seems irrelevant. What does pumping blood have to do with food? Or friends?" Yami asked her. Luna put her elbows on the counter and leaned her chin on her hands palms as she was thinking about an answer. "... I honestly have no idea." Luna replied after a short moment of silence. "She's a weird one... but her excitement makes you want to smile. Something is weird about this world." Luna yawned and closed her eyes for a brief moment. "Attending some kind of festival sure drains your energy... especially when you have to listen to confusing people." Luna stretched as she was waiting for her food. "But I guess it's fun." She smiled at Yami while brushing the bangs in front of her left eye.

Tetsu Urashima

Tetsu was still following Yorick around. They were still wandering around the festival and apparently searching for the friends of Yorick. While he was not thrilled with the prospects of meeting new people and socializing with them, he had to admit that it was better than hanging around lonely and depressed. And as long as women were involved, things couldn't go that had. Or so he hoped. He suddenly heard someone call Yorick's name. Apparently, it was one of his friends named Allister or something like that. As the both of them started to talk about some charm, he couldn't help but feel like a third wheel. He was starting to get lost in his thoughts when Yorick talked to him. "Um...yeah. Sure thing. You can count on me." But for what? While daydreaming, he didn't heard anything they said and he just gave his agreement to help them for god-knows-what. Great job Tetsu! he thought.

"Here you go!"

"That's not what a heart is shaped like. I've held one before, it doesn't look like that from any angle." I examined the food, confused. "It doesn't even have arteries."

The girl just stared at me for several moments, stunned. "Look, when we make heart shapes, we don't use actual hearts. Actually, these hearts are shaped like... Well, y'know..."

"No, I don't." I looked to the supposedly something-shaped piece of sugary bread, but nothing came to mind. "What is it supposed to look like?"

"W-Well, it--" The girl's face reddened and she scowled. "Don't make me say that out loud!!"

I raised an eyebrow, and she returned with a knife, cutting the 'elephant ears' into random pieces. I grabbed a piece of it and took a bite, tasted it for one moment, and then ate the entire piece. It was unbelievable! "What is this made out of??" I asked with surprise.

"Fried dough, sugar, cinnamon..." She shrugged. "What, have you never had something sweet before?" I shook my head, and she sort of just leaned forward. "You're kidding me..." She turned to Luna, as if hoping the both of us weren't so hopeless.

"My name is Takumi Makkusu, and I'm... an Avian," Takumi casually answers Hayate without showing any sign of fear. "So what brings you here?" Takumi asked him in return. "An... Avian...?" Hayate blinked a few times as he grinned from annoyance. "You mean a Shiren, right? Avians are considered Shirens on this school." Hayate crossed his arms as he closed his eyes. "You would know that if you really were one." Hayate chuckled and turned to Nami. "See, Maya? Humans are no go-" Hayate got interupted by a hand that belonged to Nami which was gracefully put in front of his mouth to keep him shut. She moved her index finger in front of her mouth and gestured to Hayate to be quiet about it. "Right..." Hayate nodded once she took her hand back.

"Anyways, you asked what I was doing here? I'm here to enjoy the festival of course! I too attended this academy once, you know." Hayate grinned as he glanced at Takumi. "I wonder how Ryuu-sensei is doing." Hayate searched around but wasn't able to find him so he turned back to the human boy and his Vampire girlfriend who happened to be his little sister. He leaned in closer so that Takumi was able to hear what he was about to say. "You probably should try altering your scent a bit. Every Vampire that would get close enough would smell that you're human right away." Hayate whispered. "Though, I smell..." he sniffed, "... You smell a bit Vampire too so I guess it's alright for now." Hayate smiled in satisfaction.

"How did you know that he was a human?" Nami asked him quietly. Hayate was quiet for a little bit and looked away from her. His silver colored hair slowly changed into black as his crimson red eyes took a blue color. "... Dad told me to take care of my little sister, right?" You could sense a little bit of happiness in his voice as he spoke. He stared right into Nami's eyes but she soon looked away from him with a "Hmph" and a slight blush on her cheeks.

Hayate turned to Takumi again and gave a pretty hostile expression. "If you hurt Maya, I will kill you with my own bare hands... and you know what kind of power we, Vampire's, have, right?" Hayate turned around and walked away "H-Hey! Don't tell him such things!" Nami shouted a little bit angered by her brother's words, no one was going to kill Takumi, not even him and his arrogance. Hayate stopped and looked over his shoulder. "You have until next week to show me that you aren't weak and can take care of Maya, if not. Then I will make sure that you stay out of her way." with these words he left their presence.

As the girl looked at Luna after looking at Yami as if he was a hopeless being, Luna just stared back. "What? We can't help it that we never ate something like this." Luna said as she stuffed a piece in her mouth. "It's delicious regardless." Luna complimented as she kept eating. She took a look outside the stand and saw that the sun was starting to set. Time went by fast today and Luna started to feel a little tired. She sure wanted to try every meal that was being served by the food stands but probably wasn't able to do so.

"Yami, we should try to find that green haired teacher soon. It's going to get dark soon." Luna nudged Yami and gave him a cold look that obviously showed that she should get some rest soon. "I see him walking there." Luna pointed at a green haired male that was walking hand-in-hand with a blue haired woman that looked quite beautiful. "I think it's his mate who his walking with." Luna stood up from her seat and stood by the exit. "Let's go."
