Your First Anime?

I'm a little bored and curious and procrastinating so here's a poll!

What was the first anime you ever...

a) For me, the first anime I ever watched was probably some Hello Kitty thing? I dunno, it used to be on sometimes but I don't remember... anything about it. First one I definitely remember was Sailor Moon. But I think I saw The Last Unicorn before that and I'm preeetty sure that was animated in Japan? My god I can't even answer my own first question. XD

b) First anime I knew was anime when I watched it was Pokémon. Or Digimon or DBZ. I think they might have all premiered on the same day here in Canada? Or at least, the first time I watched any of them it was one day when they were all on TV in a bit of a marathon during the after school segment. They were toted as being from Japan in all the commercial lead-ins and outs so that's the only reason I knew.

c) Aaaand the first thing I ever saw subbed was Cardcaptor Sakura. I read on the internet that the show I liked was heavily edited and I was curious, so my parents let me buy one of the subbed DVDs. I watched it so many times that I still find it hard to go back and watch the first four episodes just because I know them so well. And if I'm listening to the OST, I can perfectly picture any part of the first episode that uses any of the tracks. @_@

First manga I read was Love Hina at 13. :( I brought it home from the bookstore and my dad goes "oh, what's this?" and the first page he opens it to was the page Naru gropes Keitaro in the hot springs (while talking about breast sizes), thinking he's Kitsune. He STILL refers to all anime/manga as porn. XD;[/font]

C.) Naruto Shippuden on the official website stream. Didn't feel like waiting for it to be dubbed, so I just went ahead and started watching. Glad I did.

b) Ah My Goddess. I actually found the DVD at Wal-Mart in 2005, which is really surprising since Wal-Mart typically doesn't carry anime titles outside of the ones that are shown on TV.

c) I really don't remember, but it was either some obscure OVA or To Heart: Remember My Memories.

First manga was "Ultra Maniac", which is a (big surprise here) magical girl manga!

Battle Royale. Really loved that.

The first thing I ever watched was probably Sailor Moon, but I don't really remember. There was just a point at which I was already watching and I don't know what brought me to that point.

The first thing I saw and *knew* came from Japan (and also the first thing I saw subbed) was Escaflowne. A friend had the DVDs and insisted I watch them and watch them that way. I went "Okay!" and that was the beginning of a long tradition of bashing dubs.

My first manga was... Inuyasha? That's definitely one of the first ones I bought, but there may have been others before that. I have a bad memory for these things.

4) Manga that kept my interest was Chobits. First ever would be Yu Yu Hakusho in the 3rd Shonen Jump Book released in 2003?

Cardcaptor Sakura... xD I think I only realised what anime actually was when I was about 14, then I remembered Cardcaptors and went on the hunt for videos on the internet so I could finish the series. The dubbed TV version got axed before the series ended. ;_; I was watching Rozen Maiden at the same time, I can't remember why I chose that. I think I just Googled "best anime" or something and then chose that out of the list given. I enjoyed them both a lot, and after that I embarked on an anime watching spree after I made a new weeaboo friend that would give me recommendations.

Watched subbed:
Cardcaptor Sakura. The only dubbed anime I've ever watched is the one shown here on TV. Most of the dub voices I hear are really annoying, so when I found out what anime was and that it was Japanese, I just went straight for subs.

First manga:
I can't remember, I think the first one I ever took a look at was Pandora Hearts. Only after I saw the anime, and I didn't finish reading it. The first manga I actually read in it's entirety was Umineko.

Doraemon in Mandarin. We had 2 VHSes of it(technically still do) and I used to watch them all the time as a kid. I think the title was "Little Ding Dong" or something in Mandarin

A bit of gray area here. It was either Digimon Frontier, Sonic X or Cardcaptor Sakura. I'm leaning towards CCS if not only for the fact that it aired first, it was the first show I obsessed in (followed fansites, etc.), and i didn't start watching Frontier until the very end of it's Japanese run. The Digimon movies MIGHT have been first, but I'm not entirely sure.

Cardcaptor Sakura, a nice chunk for reasons stated above, and that I don't remember whether the Digimon episodes I watched were subbed or not.

Manga...I'm not sure....I want to say CCS or Kenshin, but it's not completely likely...I'm not sure...

Probably Pokemon. Though it might have been something like DBZ or CardCaptor Sakura. I don't remember too clearly

Pokemon. I realized it at the age of 14, after years of calling it a "cartoon". But, I watched Dragon Ball around the same time, so I'm not really sure on this one.

Naruto. And I pretty much enjoyed it to an extent. XD

As above.
Since I was still living in Japan at the time, any animated programme on TV was "anime" for me.

3. watched subbed?
I think it was a pirated subbed copy of Naruto which I borrowed from a friend while living in Hong Kong.
"Sanpan Doe!" "You crikey Snake Genie!"... a few lines I still remember.
