Suggestion: You've got a comment!

I would love this actually.
Is there a reason that there isn't a notification system in place already?
Or is it because blogs are rather exclusive, so it is a little pointless?

"Default Subscription Mode: Blog Entries
When you post a new blog entry, you can choose to automatically add the entry to your list of subscribed entries, with the option to receive email notification of new comments to that blog entry."

Does that give you a regular notification as well? Tbh, I don't check my email that frequently and it would be nice to have one of the notifications in the drop-down menu.

Exactly what I think. If you have Messenger or something, doesn't it notify you when you get an email? It does, I think, so that's my suggestion.

I always assumed that they already had notifications for blog comments... It'd definitely would be nice if they had that then. Especially for people who have lots of blog entries and are too lazy or don't want to waste time to find a certain entry to see if there are comments on there.

No, it doesn't. You have to check the blog manually. At least, to my knowledge. I've never had notifications on new blog responses.

That's not what I mean. If you subscribe to it, like Patchy said, it will send you email notifications. If you have Windows Live or Yahoo! messenger, a small box will be on the bottom right of the screen. That's what I think.

I don't know what version of Windows Live you're using or what add-ons you have, but that's not how it works in Windows Live, at least not in 2009, 2010, or 2011 as far as I can recall.

What they're really looking for is a way for comments to automatically show up in the on-site notifications.

I'm talking about email notifications, which is the only way now. If you get an e-mail, a notification box will appear by the screen. I don't think on-site notifications are possible anyway.

I agree with this idea. The couple of times I've actually blogged I forget like within a day and by the time I come back around to look at them it's been over a week since the last person commented and I don't want to feel like I just ignored them for a week and respond so I just don't respond at all. :(

Email notifications are the only way. Nothing else is currently possible with vBulletin.

Orly? How do we know you're credible? How do we know you're not lying? o__o How do we know you even exist?...

... No seriously. I want this idea bad. Will Audy please be nice enough to say something hopeful... like "It's possible" or "I'll program something like this because I love AdvancedK47"?

Reposting this because everyone else seems to have had missed it. It's not possible at all; vB3, 4, or otherwise.

I think you're missing the point of the thread. The OP knows that it can be done through email, but wants to see if the staff would consider implementing an add-on or something along those lines that places a notification in the on-site notifications area when a comment is made on one of their blog posts.

"I'll program something like this because I love AdvancedK47"?
I wish to second this motion. :P
But anyways, I think this is a great idea. As Vrai as said, sometimes you miss comments on your blog, and sometimes you want to reply to them, or they would be waiting for a reply, but you have no idea that someone has commented on your blog.

tl;dr Good idea, brah. :D

Oh yeah this would be very helpful since I'm not use to blogs but it would be really nice for there to be a feature when you get notified if someone posts in your blogs. I'll probably forget to check my other blogs if I make more to see if someone has posted in it.
