When I was in the Pokemon scene for a little bit around 6 years old, I actually only played with the TCG and watched the anime, never the games. When I got back to the series, I played Pokemon XD as my first game.
I got Red & Blue at the same time as a birthday present from my grandad. He had bought me the game boy pocket a year or so previous which first my first ever video game console, and I got that with Links Awakening! Didnt get many games between that and Pokemon as we couldnt afford it. But I remember those games becoming my absolute obsession.
Played Pokemon Emerald first, but then bought Diamond. So, technically speaking. buying wise, Diamond is my first. But, for the most part, Emerald was my first Pokemon game played.
My memory is still fuzzy on this one. I know my first core series game was Silver, but I remember trying to use it with Pokémon Stadium via Transfer Pak and it not working; I just can't remember if that's because I already had Stadium or if I got Stadium after Silver. It's also possible that I got Pokémon Snap before either of those.
The one that impacted me the most was definitely Silver, though. Those graphics are still so nostalgic!
I think I had a little go on a friend's Gen II game and apparently that was enough for me to beg to finally get a pokémon game for my GBA. Emerald was the one. Still love it, I don't have much confidence in myself so when lockdowns ease I'm hunting down the guy who swapped my internal battery to get him to do it again and take it into a 3rd decade!
Mine was Gold in 2001 (my first Nintendo game overall, my parents gifted me a GBA that Christmas), although I was already following the anime back then.
My Main line history
Blue -> Yellow -> Silver -> Crystal -> Sapphire -> Leaf Green -> Emerald -> Pearl -> Platinum -> Soul Silver -> Black -> White -> Black 2 ->White 2 -> Y -> X -> Aqua Sapphire -> Moon -> Sun -> Ultra Moon -> Let's Go Pikachu -> Sword
I've played every spin off except the second TCG game and the first PMD on the DS (GBA/DS pair)
The game that made the biggest impact on me through the years, Pokemon Black/White. The reset forced me to experiment and use a lot of Pokemon I didn't think I'd use.
I know my first game was Pokemon Red, but I can't really remember it since I was too young. That's why I always have crystal and firered as my "first" ones even though I've already played Red before :p
The first game that I played for more than a few minutes at a time was Yellow which I borrowed from my cousin for a month, but I didn't actually own my first game until I got Pokemon Gold.
I started with Red, waaaay back in...1999, I think it was released over here? I'm pretty sure it was 99, because I remember getting it for my birthday, and the last thing I did on December 31st was beat Koga for the first time. xD
well... the first pokemon game, i'm pretty sure, i ever played was my pokemon stadium on my pokemon nintendo 64 .... but my first main game was, i think, heartgold...
My first ever Pokemon game was Gold shortly after it came out. I could barely read when I first played so the struggle was real and led to many mispronunciations.
