I wouldn't care at all. I know some people like them, though, but I also know that for a staff member most of them don't even go in the Mod CP anymore because of your report system, so. When I was on staff it was super tedious to go give them to people. So if you decide to keep them, maybe make them easier to disburse?

I think maybe it would be better if you made some of the emblems automatic. Requesting them makes them lose their appeal, and most of the mods understandably don't usually keep track of who to give what.

Maybe add some other perks too, such as getting supportership from gaining × many emblems. Doing something that would add to the allure of them, and get more people interested.

I personally do kind of like them, but it's a feature that needs refining if we keep it.

Emblems are a cute thing, but they don't really do much other than look pretty in your profile (and maybe provide bragging rights if you like doing that sort of thing). I don't really care much about them and wouldn't be upset if they were gone.

    Question: what are emblems?
Emblems are the little achievements you receive for winning a small event, or because a moderator felt like giving you one or noticed that you are particularly active/chatty in a section.

Just so you're aware, maybe 5% of our emblems were listed in the Master List so it wasn't a very accurate representation of the emblems we have available. :P

I loved them. It was so exciting for me to get an emblem for some reason. I guess if they were removed, then it would upset me. >< I'm proud of my PC veteran one most of all because it makes me feel like a true PC veteran since I've been here for ten years.

I agree with Ardent. There's a lot of times I've felt I deserved one, but we aren't even allowed to ask for them either. If there was some way to improve them and make it easier, I bet they would have more value and attention here on the forums.

I like the emblems system, since getting one is sorta like you getting a little trophy or something. If the system were to be abandoned it would make me sad. If you do decide to keep the emblems I think you should try going along a route like the one that Ardent mentioned.

I'm happy if any improvements are made, just don't abandon the system and it shall be fine.

I don't care about them in the least. I neither have a single one nor do I have any idea how to get one, so if they disappeared, it wouldn't affect me. It's nice to see things that other people got, though.

If you do decide to keep it, it'd be better if some of the emblems were automatic. It's impossible to keep track of everyone who deserves one, let alone hand them all out.

Even if this happened, I still couldn't care less. No offense to anyone.

    No, I know. E:
Most emblems have a no request rule to them, too, if I'm not mistaken.
Well, not necessarily. You could ask for whatever you want! It'd just be up to the staff member you asked whether or not to award it to you.

Yup, those are exactly my thoughts. :] Changes, improvements, or maybe even replacements definitely wouldn't hurt, but we should not get rid of it all together.

I know I said that we have too many and such now, but I like them for my challenge events, and I have a lot of old ones that I wouldn't want to see disappear...I know I'm sorta contradicting what I said in staff forums (well I never said I hate them and want them gone so I guess I'm not) but I'd hate to see them go really. I just wish every little thing on PC didn't have an emblem to match, that's really my issue.

Don't currently have any emblems myself, so I can't really say whether I appreciate them or not. Seems like a fun feature, but not of any true importance. One of the main practical uses of emblems appear to be gifting them to participants of various community events; an effective way of luring in a larger audience. If they were removed, it wouldn't make much of a difference to the forum, but it may be a hobby of some to collect as many emblems as they can, and it would upset them if the feature was suddenly abolished.

I think people would care about them a lot more if we paid more attention to them as staff - I'm fairly certain that we're a little lacking when it comes to giving them out. I think it's obvious that the system could use an overhaul and some tweaks, but I wouldn't support scrapping it entirely without a comprehensive reform effort first. It's worth trying to save, I think.

Honestly, ever since I joined years ago I've always thought emblems were pretty awesome. I love the concept behind them, how lovely the little icons are, and the witty text you guys include. If I take a moment to look through someone's emblems, I find myself chuckling at some of the text. It's great!

They also give me a good idea about people, I noticed. Such as 'Wise One', 'Shut Up', 'Graphic Artist', 'iStalker', you know. All of the emblems earned by just simply being yourself. Staff Ego emblems are also really adorable if you ask me. They're usually pretty comedic, and it's kinda fun figuring out who the emblems belong to. It's nice to have them as a friendship token too if you happen to be friends with some of our people in bold color.

I find sentimental value in emblems, too. Seeing the things you've won or participated in, remembering who gave you what and why, being reminded of your great (or not so great, in a funny way) traits... it'd honestly be depressing for that opportunity to be taken away. They're nice to go through on a hard day for memories sake, and cool to show off to other people.

What I feel might be beneficial is for emblems to be given out more frequently, if they were to be kept. Many of the new users don't know what emblems are anymore, nor are users familiar with receiving them. When I was around a couple years ago, I remember seeing emblems given out as prizes, with opportunities to earn them being more common face. Since coming back, I can't say that emblems are very common anymore... at least, from what I've seen since returning. (which isn't much, mind you, so I may be wrong)

I think I'd truly be disappointed if we lost the ability to earn emblems. I always did find that a very nice and unique trait to PC that always kept me curious about earning them.

I like emblems, and when I go on other people's pages, I usually open up their emblem's tab. That's if they have one, of course. I see someone who has emblems as someone who's a respected member of a community (not saying that a person with zero emblems isn't a respected member, but it's more likely that they do have emblems if they are one.)

I wouldn't really like to see Emblems go, tbqh. :(

But on the other side of the coin, to be completely honest, emblems do nothing more than look pretty. Which is OK and all, but honestly, I do think they lead to huge inflated egos in some people. :\ I don't know why, I'm probably pulling that statement out of my butt, but..

Okay so, I love love love the idea of having a type of achievement/trophy/badge system. I like people getting recognition for dedication to their sections/clubs/whatever. I like having them as rewards for regular contests (PPC, Icontest, etc). I love ego emblems. I like that some emblems are indicative of personality. What I don't like is how few emblems can be reused and how many there are for (usually very minimal) participation. I don't like emblems for one-off events. I don't like how unobtainable most emblems are. I don't like that people are generally discouraged about asking about and aiming toward getting emblems.

I'd like to see a big overhaul of emblems. I want them to be attainable and mean something. And there are a fair few I would hate to lose, because they're actually special things (ego emblems, Committed, Emblem Artisan, #1 Fan, my section-specific emblems). Anything that's like "third place in this GT event" or some bull could be pulled and I'd be so okay with that. But I don't want to be rid of emblems entirely, because some are special and actually representative of good things I've done and friends I've made.
