Community Mafia [GAME OVER]

Do you think complicated roles (the ones I quoted and asked to be changed) should be used?

  • So far I count six third party roles, five town roles and one maf role, with one third party potentially being a maf instead. That includes my Spectrum being a town role, which could change as early as N1. Also Desi's "Person," which can be any alignment by N2.

Beyond that, I count four roles that can change or steal alignment, and five that can switch/alter roles in some way.

Well, at least we can see what the masses want. Aka they want to be more confused than they were in FDL.

    RIP.

  • Greyscale
    Davepetasprite^2

    "Three personas, One being..."

Greyscale is a special being. They change alignments, powers, and win conditions, depending on the alignment of who targets Greyscale last.

They can either become Sable, the dark and evil persona, Slate, the benevolent and just persona, and Ivory, the nice and loving persona.

Any actions, such as kills, investigations, protections, gun-shooting, etc. are negated and the alignment of who did those actions will dictate what persona Greyscale is going to exemplify in the next phase.

At the start of the game, Greyscale will be Slate. If Greyscale gets targeted by a Mafia-sided action, they will turn into Sable. If Greyscale gets targeted by an Innocent-sided action, they will turn into Ivory. If Greyscale gets targeted by a third party-sided action, they will turn into Slate.

The only way Greyscale can die is if they get melted (lynched), or if a player with the same alignment as Greyscale's persona kills them (a Mafia kills them while Greyscale is Sable, an Innocent kills them while Greyscale is Ivory, a third party kills them while Greyscale is Slate)

    Sable

Known as the dark and evil persona, they are known to be ruthless. As Sable, they can either choose to roleblock, silence, or give a fabricated item (gun or vest) to one person every night phase. They will turn into Sable when a Mafia-sided action hits them last. They can be killed when they are melted, or if a member of the Mafia kills them. If Mafia targets them while they are Sable, actions will go through as normal. Greyscale wins if mafia wins at the end of the game while they are Sable (either dead or alive)

    Slate

Known as the benevolent and just persona, they are known to be rational. As Slate, they can curse someone to speak in gibberish every night phase for the next phase. They also have their votes counted as two during the day phase. They will turn into Slate when a third party-sided action hits them last. They can be killed when they are melted, or if a third party kills them. If any third party targets them while they are Slate, actions will go through as normal. Greyscale wins if they survive at the end, or if they get melted before N3 starts.

    Ivory

Known as the nice and loving persona, they are known to be caring. As Ivory, they can either choose to protect, investigate, or give a real item (gun or vest) every night phase. They will turn into Ivory when a innocent-sided action hits them last. They can be killed when they are melted, or if an innocent kills them. If any innocent targets them while they are Ivory, actions will go through as normal. Greyscale wins if innocents win at the end of the game while they are Ivory (either dead or alive)

  • Spoiler:

After carefully reviewing your submissions, many, many times, I've decided that these roles will need to be simplified in order to be used. While all are great roles, I'm afraid that they are too complicated and slightly overpowered in some cases. Having one complicated role would be fine, however having many of them will confuse the players more than necessary. If you would kindly simplify your role, I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Alright, here's the role you've all been waiting for.

    Username: TheCapsFan

Role Name (and background): The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass (click here for link to wiki page) is a real Mafia role that has been used on the well-known forum MafiaScum. When we discovered this role, the Bulbagarden community was so enthralled by it that one of our moderators (not yet one at the time, however) decided to include it in his Fruit Bowl Mafia, and has since included it in another one of his games as well. Here is the Role PM that was revealed in Fruit Bowl Mafia upon The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass's death:

    Spoiler:

Passive Ability(s): Every night, The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass has a 25% chance of being Bulletproof.

Active Ability(s): Every night, can PM the host a player they want to kill. If this player is Mafia, the shot has a 100% hit rate. If this player is Town, the shot has a 25% hit rate. If this player is a third party or independent, the shot has a 50% hit rate.

Win condition: (only fill in if it's different from win with town/mafia) The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass takes a normal win condition.

Optional: If you want to modify the role for use in the game, PM me and I can help you out. I have a couple ideas as to how that could work. The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass, much like other roles based on percentages, can in some instances be considered Bastard, so this is understandable.

Image (@mods/GM please feel free to remove if you think it's a little too NSFW; personally I think it's just a parody, and also quite hilarious):
    Spoiler:

Preferred alignment of role: (Town, Mafia, Unaffiliated) The Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass is typically a town role, however I can see it being modified for use as a Independent Serial Killer as well.

All in all it's a pretty simple Vigilante modifier, I just decided to give some background because I have quite the story about this great role. also half the reason this is so long is because of the name itself Enjoy.

  • I mean technically speaking, only this part of my role
    Spoiler:

Is unique role description. The rest just explains what each color does for use in the main part of the role.

And this is these abilities listed out more clearly
    Spoiler:
As such, it's long, but it's not complicated.

I can try changing it, or just rescind it since this game looks like it's going to be unplayable or just not fun with the assortment of roles that have been submitted.

  • Well, seeing as you guys are taking this so well, I'll make a poll and see if everyone cares whether there's complicated roles and roles that destroy other's roles and basically act like an OP cult. Personally I don't want this game to fail miserably so pleasing the players is my priority.
