I'm just surprised when I saw the regional dex of Alola that most of my favorite Pokémons are in it.
Check the Pokédex over here (spoiler warning):
    Spoiler:

As well as Smeargle as Porygon-Z are in it, even Garchomp and Talonflame are into it.
This looks great, it looks like all the popular Pokémon are into it.

  • There's a few of my past-gen faves, but not a lot of them. Hopefully we'll be able to obtain the missing Pokemon in the postgame, since not everyone has Pokemon Bank.

Also, way too many Kanto Pokemon. This generation feels the like ultimate Genwunner pandering games when you think about that.

Nope. Actually a LOT of my favourite Pokemon aren't available. Cofuhgrigus, Reuniclus, Scolipede, Darmanitan, Ampharos, Mawile, Malamar, Dragalge, Sigilyph, Conkeldurr etc etc I could actually go on. :P

I appreciate Starmie, Crobat and Gengar being there though. They were my Soul Silver mons. :P (also Flygon was one of my White 2 mons)

It's why I'm initially not too keen on this pokedex....but on the other hand I already used all of the Pokemon I mentioned above anyway and I don't like using Pokemon I've already used so I guess I'm not missing much. It would have been nice to see more of my old favourites though. :(

  • My favourite Pokemon Lilligant is catchable in Sun/Moon which is very welcome.

However inexplicably the Gardevoir line has been left out and I am bemused why a Pokemon as popular as Gardevoir would not get in.

The only Gardevoir like thing there is Alakazam, with Gothitelle and Reuniclus not getting in either.

Hopefully there is some way to get Gardevoir in S/M without waiting for the Bank.

Whilst there is a good variety of Grass Types in Sun/Moon the lack of the Oddish line is disappointing.

  • Yep a lot of my favorite pokemon are here.

Sandile, Rufflet, Tourtouga, Vanilite, and Phantump.

I am really glad that Rufflet is on Melemele Island.

There are a few that I am not seeing, but I also find it a bit strange than Phantump is there, but not Pumpkaboo. I wonder why that is? It seems like the tore a lot of the trading evolution pairs apart.

Here are a few videos that have broken down the Island dexes. Melemele and Akala so far. So far Melemele has 120 Pokemon and Akala has 130.

I am not sure how he found this out though. Not had any other dataminers say anything about it. Not to mention he is a new tuber.

  • These might not be the actual numbers but here's what the Melemele Dex is looking like:
    Spoiler:

Unfortunately that's only half of my planned team (Raichu, Lycanroc, Popplio final evo) for this first island, so I may have to use random previous-gen Pokemon as fillers until the later islands.

  • If they explained the fact that the Alola region is still not old enough for new fossil Pokemon, I am not sure why the older generation fossil Pokemon are in-- Then again that was just speculation.

Well, not all the old fossils are in - just the Sinnoh and Unova ones. My guess is them being version exclusives, with Shieldon and Archen probably in Sun and Cranidos and Tirtouga probably in Moon.

  • There are a few Pokemon in there that I've used before, but I make it a point to never reuse the same Pokemon with very few exceptions so I probably wont use any of them. Aside from those few I don't really care for any of the older Pokemon they've put in here and I don't like most of the new Pokemon, so this is going to be... interesting, and likely not in a good way.

  • Nah, no Druddigon (I'm probably the only one wanting it, lol), Snover. Litwick, Pawniard or Joltik. At least Torkoal and the Unova fossils are still available though.

I still feel like Tropius, Solrock, and Lunatone need to be in this game. The Oddish line too. Vileplume are active at night, and Bellossom is pretty much wearing a hula skirt. They'd fitting nicely with the theme.

  • No, many of my absolute favorite Pokemon are absent, which is why I'm praying for more unrevealed dex. I don't know why there are so many Kanto Pokemon, tbh gen 1 has most of my least favorite Pokemon in it, and it really bothers me that there is so much pandering with such mediocre Pokemon.
