Wow that is amazing that your mother was a model. She must be so beautiful. My own mother studied acting when she was young, but was too shy to pursue it. She decided to express her creativity in New York not on stage, but behind the scenes. She worked as an artist for many years. When she sent a family Christmas photo of us to her former acting teacher whom she regarded as an old friend and colleague. Her old teacher's sister worked at Forbes modeling agency, and she happened to see the picture and liked it, asking my mom about bringing me down for a photo shoot. My mum knew that I was too young for any of that though and declined. Its still a fun story to tell I think.

I agree with you about friendship with Pokemon being the most important part. Since Pokemon games are strategy-focused, and centered around battles to progress through the story, the bond between pokemon and people are commonly forged in battle. I take pride in my Pokemon, and love them for their hard work and devotion, and I can get excited by a good battle. Because love of pokemon is the key though, I can enjoy almost every way that we get to know Pokemon through, and not exclusively trainer battles. For example just having pokemon follow you around in Heart Gold, Soul Silver and being able to talk to them and try hundreds of different interactions with them is just as great for me. I would even be interested in a Pokemon game all about the contest world. I love almost everything Pokemon-related from movies to plushies to fanfiction and art. Any way that I can be around Pokemon is nice.

Like you I am fascinated by the world of competitive battling. I like devising move sets and strategies, watching the VGC finals etc. Where I differ a little is that I do enjoy breeding Pokemon. However, I am willing to still use Pokemon that aren't perfect for the main story and even the post game facilities. The Pokemon I played through the game with have personalities, and I want to keep them in my life, and not just discard them. After the main story I do spend a lot of time ev-training as well breeding pokemon that have good ivs and natures. However, I do this mostly because I have completed all of the quests, and am still looking for ways to pass my time while I wait for the next main series game to be released. I'll ev-train, experiment with some new sets, breed pokemon with better stats, fill the pokedex, go on some shiny hunts, get on the internet and trade/battle. However, I see it overall as something to do on a rainy day. I could just as easily play casually.

I'm sorry that you had some tough times, but hopefully a little vacation from the forum cheered you up. It's great that you have a strong bond with a mother. She sounds like she always there to help you too.

I actually ammended the rules of September Serpents so that anybody who votes on a Pokemon can also have a Milotic! So you can still get one, you don't have to make a Pokemon. All you have to do now is vote in the poll on whoever you like, and you can get a 5-6 Iv Milotic from me.
