  • D: I went to Lake Valor and got your name wrong! I put Zekrom instead of PendraFlare!
I was expecting Fettuccine would sweep, and he was the critical player after all. Still I do wonder how he'll handle Norman given most of the team can't stand up to the Slakings and their Retaliate very well so he may have to get crafty.
Yeah, it was good to see Fettuccine do very well in his first big battle because given the hopes of even defeating Flannery rest on him he has proven his worthiness. Especially given his partner would get totally obliterated in the Gym. I am kinda worried about Flannery's Torkoal since she has Attract and if Fettuccine gets hit badly by infatuation hax everything could go downhill and the challenge would be called a failure.

Also, I do love the nickname Marriland gave to his new Machop (Cobbler) but that Calm nature though... terrible.
I had a feeling Kyogre would kill something of yours, but still 4 deaths is pretty minimal for a challenge as hard as this. You do have a solid line-up so if you make it to the Elite Four with them I'm sure you'll breeze through.
Yeah I read Bulba's post in the Challengers Clan. It was sad to see him fall to hax, but I do hope that his next challenge can go much better because hax is always never fun. I do hope HW will do better despite his tougher restrictions, especially given he still only has 2 deaths so far.

Also, I feel sorry for the loss of your Bibarel in the Platinum Wedlocke. I do sorta recall the NPC Abras in that game had set Hidden Power Fighting, but yeah at least it gives you a better partner for your Prinplup now. I think of the female choices you have, the Zubat will probably benefit him right now given she'll be able to counter Grass-types.
He did say "I could try for Tentacool..." in one episode, but there's a high chance he'll be stuck with the Magikarp, plus Tentacool would add another Ground weakness to the team (in fact one for each pair) but given that this is a female Nuzleaf he has to get a partner for, he just has to hope his fishing encounter is male, and Nuzleaf would resist Ground moves anyway. It's just that the Water-type he gets (more easily if it's a Tentacool or Goldeen, since Gyarados doesn't learn many Water moves) will have to solo the Gym because Bruschetta has loads of weaknesses.
Your Platinum Wedlocke is getting off to a good start, aside from your Piplup losing against Barry... but at least you don't officially start the challenge until you get Poke Balls, and given that battle is very hard if you're using Piplup (because Barry's Turtwig spams Withdraw) whose attack is weaker than Turtwig or Chimchar's it was not surprising you were stuck in a situation like that where he outplayed you. Anyways, good luck for the rest of the challenge, and I do hope your Piplup can continue the "starters surviving to the end" trend again.

As for how Marriland defeated Wattson...
    Spoiler:
Also, sad to hear you cancelled your Alpha Sapphire WonderWedlocke, but given all three of your pairs (Dustox + Pidove, Zigzagoon + Poochyena and Snivy + Cottonee) all had shared weaknesses it was no surprise.

You should attempt it again, but maybe as a normal Wedlocke. Anyways, hope that your Platinum Wedlocke turns out well, especially after a successful LeafGreen Wedlocke which ended up overtaking your White Wedlocke for the least deaths in any of your Lockes.
Would you be up for a battle some time? I know you play cartridge what with the ORAS travel logs and all

Hey buddy, you might wanna update your signature. The link to Lake Valor in it doesn't work anymore as we removed the /forums bit from the URL.
Yeah I saw that, it was a shame to see something die to passive damage, especially something that had a type advantage to the thing that was using said move that caused it. But yeah I heard about the tricky situation he's in now, choosing between the Fighting-type or the Protect user.

As far as I know, when I battled Norman in my Alpha Sapphire playthrough he didn't use Retaliate against me at all, so there's a chance Norman may derp and not use it. I'll wait and see who he chooses, but if he gets another death I would not be surprised in the slightest, although if he does lose a female next I hope he uses that Electrike sitting in the PC, especially given there's a Flying-type Gym after that and she can destroy 3/4 of Winona's team plus Manectric is handy against all those Water-types coming up in the sea routes.
