He is quite rare in the earlier games too. Indeed even in Gen 6 some NPCs point out how rare Pikachu is and how 'lucky' it is. :)

Blaine himself is inconsistent, in the Original games he is a bald man in a lab coat and sunglasses, in one of the Stadium games he has some hair and no sunglasses and in the later games he is bald and has a cane and a new outfit. :)

There's a theory going around that Red and Ash are brothers and Pikachu used to belong to Red and was given to Ash after Red disappears/dies explaining why Pikachu is so overpowered.

I thought Blaine was one of the few Kanto Leaders Ash did beat (Blaine's signature Pokémon was Magmar). I vaguely remember him not actually beating Erika but her just handing it over after helping her against Team Rocket.

That reminds me why do the Grunts in the games get sillier as the series advances. Team Plasma Grunts are pretty silly but Team Flare's make Jessie and James look like Master Criminals.

Yeah the Sunflora line is...poor Sunflower Pokemon. So Venusaur, Mega Sceptile, Charizard, Ninetales, Clefable...Flamethrower Slowbro to deal with any Fire types.

Indeed and there is no option to turn the sprinklers on in Brock's Gym and no Gym Leader just hands the badge over for helping them either in the games unlike in the anime where it was a running joke that Ash didn't earn all his badges.

Well that's a plus, it doesn't sound like it is totally broken! I'm sure there are some programmes that can either fix it or recover the files from it.

Pikachu remains childish to coincide with Ash not growing older in the anime I guess, as well as giving a recognisable cute Pokémon for children. If Pikachu was mature it might throw the viewers off somewhat.

I think Starmie was revealed as Genderless. Never used the Snowflake Pokemon but if they are ever revealed as any gender I think they will be Male.

Yes, four Megas between them and I've never used any of them. As I said before though there are several fan favourite Pokemon I rarely use and some I will never use. Solar Power Charizard does look fun though. :)

Marlon's a fun Leader with a solid team (Although Wailord strikes me as an odd choice) but the lengthy time spent on Team Plasma's Ship is not fun at all for me.
