    • There was legit tension in 3rd grade over Pokemon and Digimon. Like, actual friendships were tested because of it LOL

    Dragon Ball Z was the big competing thing against Pokemon in my elementary school. I remember I watched one episode just so I could talk about it with the "cool kids" the next day, but I utterly hated it and stuck with Pokemon.

    • I grew up in the Beyblades era personally. That and the bogan spinoff, bottle caps. Which were significantly less anime but a whole lot more affordable.

    • Pokemon was really popular, but the card game was not. I dont think card games were popular in general, but I did have one friend that collected Yugio cards
