What is your favorite Gen III Pokemon and why?

Milotic, because I really love the artwork, and its moveset is generally pretty good. It has loads of utility like Recover, Hypnosis, Safeguard, and so on! The problem of course is that Feebas are really hard to find, so, getting one for a playthrough is really challenging indeed. Trying to evolve it is a pain too, but, its worth it!

Blaziken takes the cake. I'm a sucker for Fire-types and Blaziken is just all-around awesome, it hits hard with any good move and looks like a boss while doing it. And don't make it go Mega on you.

What is your favorite Gen III Pokémon and why?

My fave 3rd Gen Pokemon has to be the Mudkip line, it's my third fave Water starter line overall (behind Oshawott and Froakie) and I love the tough image of Swampert's Mega, which suits a strong and fiesty girl such as myself. I know that I definitely look forward to using this Mega once I get the games!

The other two partners I picked are also among my faves, Manectric was a Pokemon I used in the original Ruby and I'll definitely use it again in the remakes, because I never used its Mega yet and it'll give me the perfect chance to try it out. And Gardevoir started becoming a fave in recent years, it's very majestic, a powerful special attacker and now has the amazing Fairy-type along with a Mega which is essentially icing on the cake, and I'll definitely enjoy using it in OR/AS now that it got better.

Claydol. I think it's a unique Pokémon with a high defense for a psychic type and a high special defense for a ground type. Combined with the rare move Cosmic Power Claydol can be a great tank. Aside from that it also has the possiblilities to attack both physical and special.

Tied Between Roxanne, Liza&Tate, and Winona! Roxanne and Winona are both adorable and Liza and Tate have a really interesting system of Gym battles; they should incorporate double-styled Gym battles more often, imo. :3

What starter Pokemon did you pick on your first playthrough?:

I recall the first time I ever played Sapphire, I ended up choosing Mudkip. This is because I have a tradition of starting the Water type starter Pokemon.

The Blaziken line has to be my favorite line. It was my first partner for the hoenn region and I just fell in love with it ever since sapphire.
    - What is your favorite gym leader and why?
Favorite gym leader has to be flannery. I love fire types and she happens to be a fire type gym leader. Also seeing a 'new' gym leader is kind of a nice touch.
    - What starter Pokémon did you pick on your first playthough?
Like I said above, Torchic. I was debating way back when on which starter to choose cause they all looked cool at the time. But I ended up picking the fire type. And I enjoyed using torchic and it's evolution line.

Who is your favorite generation 3 pokemon and why? My favorite has got to be Rayquaza, he was the first pokemon that made me stop and think how powerful he was whilst still looking amazing doing so. That and his shiny form making him look even better than he already did, a trait I wish a lot more pokemon held.

Who is your favourite gym leader and why? Personally I'm a strong fan of wallace's gym everything from the puzzle to get to to him to the battle itself got me thinking, at least the first time when the pokemon I had trained specifically for his gym got OHKOed by a critical hit icebeam. A strong second would have to be Tate and Liza they did something that we hadn't seen before in a gym battle.

Which starter did you pick on your first playthough? I can remember my first playthroughs with each of the starters but honestly couldn't tell you which came first.

I chose Torchic. For some reason I choose the fire Pokémon in most of my first playthroughs, I don't know why. The only exception is Turtwig in Diamond.

What is your favorite gym leader and why?

Definitely Tate and Liza. They have the rare style of a double battle Gym. Additionally, they are the most challenging Gym Leaders in Hoenn, maybe even the only challenging Gym Leaders.
Their Pokémon are all immune against Earthquake, Solrock can block Surf with Sunny Day and Rock Slide doesn't have much effect. This blocks all strong multi opponent moves. Lunatone can be quite indestructible with a good defense stat and special defense gained after a few uses of Calm Mind. Some Hyper Potions can negate the damage you've inflicted.

What starter Pokémon did you pick on your first playthough? It was a very hard choice since I liked them all, but I picked Mudkip and I leveled swampert all the way to 100 with no cheats or rare candy.

ps. Gen 3, best games in my opinion. Emerald is my all time fav official pokemon game. :)

Brawly for sure! I never usually like most Fighting-type trainers but he has this awesome surfer dude image and personality, especially thanks to watching the episode of the anime where Ash has that failed first attempt at his Gym and it shows just because he may look laid-back doesn't mean he'll take you lightly. Secondly, his OR/AS redesign makes him look much more like a Fighting specialist which I have to admit is good because his original design didn't scream Fighting-type at all.

Coming in close would have to be Roxanne, Flannery and Wallace. I either like their designs, or in Wallace's case, the fact he uses my fave type.

What starter Pokémon did you pick on your first playthough?

Mudkip! I've always been one who leans towards Water starters most of the time (well, it is my fave type) and Mudkip's line gains that handy Ground-type and has good coverage against a lot of in-game stuff. Its stats make its line a tank that takes hits and also hits hard. Definitely will be picking the little guy again in OR/AS!

That's a tough one, well, my favourite pokemon overall is groudon,

but, if i had to choose a Gen 3 pokemon without counting it, i would have a big list.
I love Aggron, looks awesome, and it has 1 of my favourite types (rock), it is really, raeally cool.
Salamence is incredible too, it is a dragon , no, it is THE dragon xD, you are not gonna beat him.
Flygon is awesome too, it is like the cute but also cool dragon, it is salamence young bro xD.
And we can't forget about metagross, one of the strongest pokemon, unbeatable :P, it looks pretty cool right?

This is.. actually a very hard choice. I love Altaria because it's fluffy and has served me so well in the past, though Beautifly is another favorite because of its gorgeous design. I also love Skitty for its cuteness and Zangoose because there is absolutely no denying how awesome it is. Absol is another favorite (among others).

Overall I'll say Skitty because it is so irresistible.

What is your favorite gym leader and why?
hmmm Winona is gorgeous, especially in OR/AS. Hands down my favorite.

What starter Pokémon did you pick on your first playthough?
On my very first Hoenn playthrough ever I chose Mudkip and didn't train anything else throughout the entire game lool. In Alpha Sapphire I went with Treecko.

  • Welcome to the club, my dears!

What is your favorite Gen III Pokémon and why?
Latias! I ran into her while surfing around Pacifidlog and I couldn't believe that I found such a cute Pokemon that I've never seen before. I chased Latias around Hoenn and caught her within an hour. Her debut in Heroes also reinforced her spot as my number one favorite Pokemon.

What is your favorite gym leader and why?
I'd have to agree that Winona was always one of my favorites because she's gorgeous and graceful. Even so, having twins as gym leaders is still unique to this day. Tate and Liza are also adorable. They definitely should incorporate more double battles in gym matches.

What starter Pokémon did you pick on your first playthough?
I chose Treecko because prior to getting RSE, I actually opened up a booster pack and got a Sceptile holofoil. :)

Speaking of meaningful events... What element of the third generation's story or features best impressed you? What makes you love Hoenn?

Well firstly the pokemon that was a big part of it a lot of the new pokemon and such. Umm lets see the destruction lol all the rockets were going to do where steal pokemon ok we'll then we have aqua and magma they were gonna flood the planet or create and everlasting drought lol. Contests were a new aspect that i myself enjoyed very much. And also we had Liza and Tate the first duo of gym leaders which is awesome! :)
And finally we have the most legendaries (at that point in time) could be caught in one region plus now its even more. Oh oh oh and also you could re battle gym leaders and other trainers and we had the battle frontier my favorite place in the region! Theres so many things to love but i think the main aspect i loved was the battle frontier!

I always loved the contests, and I do have to admit that OR/AS made them so much more fun to play given those 3D graphics makes everything look so much more flashy now, such as the stage being color-coordinated for the contest type. But I also love Team Aqua and Team Magma's plot, especially in the remakes as it got expanded on and also Maxie, Archie and the respective admins' personalities got improved on.

    What makes you love Hoenn?
The unique tropical environments is what makes Hoenn stand out from the crowd, such as having a literal beach with real umbrellas and chairs, and then we had a route that had conditions heavily akin to a rainforest (said route is my least fave route in Hoenn though), and a real volcano with ash falling in the areas near it. And it's the only region where we travel underwater as part of the story, and I always enjoyed that part of the game because it's one of the most beautiful sights of the region.
