Ice-type Pokémon ~ August 7 - 14

Welcome to the Favorite Pokémon Tournament here in Pokémon Voting Polls, where we aim to determine who PokéCommunity’s favorite Pokémon is! This will be a grand undertaking that will span across a couple of months, where we will start with hundreds of Pokémon, in hopes to rank the most popular Pokémon in the eyes of you- the members of the PokéCommunity!

For those of you that aren’t quite sure how this process works, here’s a quick rundown/FAQ that should catch you up to speed:

Spoiler:
  • Every week, there will be a new poll stickied at the top of PVP. Each thread will have a different elemental type, which will include a list of Pokémon to vote on.
  • You aren’t required to pick just one Pokémon- you can vote for as many as you like to ensure your favorites get through. The Pokémon with the most votes at the end of the week will face off against the other winning Pokémon in a final poll to crown the champion!
  • Not only will the winning Pokémon from each poll move on to the final vote, but they'll be featured in Pokémon Voting Polls' forum splash for a week.
  • In order to preserve space, we’ve grouped all of the applicable evolutions in a Pokémon family together. If a family rather than an individual were to win the tournament, we would hold one extra run-off poll to decide the most popular member of the family.
  • Unfortunately, we don’t have enough space to include every single Pokémon. If your favorite seems to be missing or you prefer a Pokémon for their secondary type, make sure to vote Other Pokémon in the poll (represented by the ?), and leave a post voting for that Pokémon.
  • In the event of a tie at the end of the week, Brendino will have the tie-breaking vote.
  • Legendary Pokémon are not included in this round of voting. Don’t worry, though- they’ll be voted upon near the end of the tournament to round out the final number of candidates.
  • Furthermore, members who vote and post for a majority of weeks during the tournament will receive an emblem depicting the winning Pokémon!
  • If there are any questions that you need answered, feel free to leave a comment in this thread or send a VM to Brendino to get it sorted out.

Now that you know what the tournament is all about, what are you waiting for? Polls will remain open until August 14th, so get voting!

Favourite ice-type? This is kinda tough but I'll go with good ol' Piloswine. I've never used one myself to tell you the truth but I've seen it being used in competitive play and its unbelievably bulky, along with having some offensive presence itself. Other than that, its also absolutely adorable. It looks like it could go truffle hunting, sniffing around with that cute nose. I also really like the Swinub family in general as they have all around good-stats while also having adorable personalities in the anime. Swinub eating everything up was just so memorable. All in all my vote goes to the Swinub line. <3;

There aren't too many Ice types, so I easily picked my favorites.

Walrein has been one of my favorites for quite a long time. It can learn Sheer cold and Walruses in general are cool. It was the only Pokémon in the R/S/E Elite 4 that could take down my Blaziken (with its Surf).

Mamoswine was my other pick. It's one of my favorite 4th Gen. Pokémon and I was really glad that Piloswine was given an evolution. I wish more trainers in the games used Mamoswine.

This one is tough. Since ice types are so scarce, I limited myself to two choices.
Frankly I like all of these lines with the exception of the Vanilite and Crygonal lines.

First, the Swinub line.
I like to think of the Swinub line from a Gen 2 perspective, since I am not that fond of Mamoswine.
Piloswine was just one of those pokemon that stole my affection in GSC, for the first few runs, I had to have one on my team. Just look at it!

And second the Froslass line.
She is odd, intriguing, and beautiful all wrapped into one, which is a difficult thing to do. Again, not fond of Glalie, but Froslass' geisha spirit design wins my vote.

The cubchoo, spheal, and jynx lines were very close.

I like most Ice-types, and once had a team of Ice types that had a fair bit of success in the OU tier. Anyway, here are the Ice types I didn't vote for and the reasons why:

Jynx: Because this Pokemon has been criticized by various media.
Delibird: A joke Pokemon. It is desperately asking for an evolution.
Vanilluxe: A disappointment in the competitive scene. She takes a very long time for herself to evolve into her final evolution, and thanks to a shallow movepool she is still not good enough.
Boilurn, the Scald Pokemon and the evolved form of Hottle. It can burn the holder by the lightest of touches when it boils. It can boil 3 gallons of water in one minute.

I voted for quite a few because I have a few fave Ice-types.

The Vanillite evolution line, despite their shallow movepools are just so cute and who doesn't love ice cream with smiles on it? For something so cute, it has impressive stats going for it.

Swinub line also gets a vote, specifically because Piloswine is my fave member of that line. For the same reasons as Narnia above, all that shaggy fur on it makes it really warm to cuddle! And also because Mamoswine makes a mark in competitive play for being one of the few Ice Pokemon not weak to Stealth Rock.

Glaceon, for being one of my fave Eeveelutions and also being my fave color.

And not to mention Cubchoo, that thing is adorable as heck and I like how it goes from cute to menacing.
Gone forever for personal reasons.

I voted for Mamoswine + family. I just started training one; it's adorable + I love having it follow me. :]
The one that I wanted to vote for wasn't on the list, so I will just name it here. Articuno gets my vote in this week's poll because I have always loved it and it brings back such fond memories. I remember playing through Blue on my first time and encountering this bird in the islands. I was in awe that this Pokemon existed and I quickly used my Master Ball on it. I rushed to the PC to take it out and then it became the most valued member of my team. I have always used Articuno if given the possibility because I just cannot get enough of it. She is both beautiful and powerful which is an excellent combination in a Pokemon. Also I am a huge fan of it's dual typing so yeah it easily gets my vote this week.

Spheal family but more for Spheal itself. It's just so d*mn adorable. And I remember being astounded at the size of Walrein during the E4 run in Ruby.

Although I adore Swinub and his whole family, I'm voting for the Spheal family - more specifically Spheal itself. It's just such an adorable Pokémon that's always a pleasure to train and it evolves into the most glorious fatty out there - a truly glorious Pokémon family <3

Lapras and Dewgong spring to mind first, but my favorite here would be Froslass. I like how her body is designed like a kimono. I adore the red bow and the two crystals. I also like how she is a female-only evolution and has a unique typing.

Oh, no! I never pick a winner, being a bit presumptuous, I know!

Though, Spheal was my number three, it I hadn't limited myself to just two this time. I love walrein's beard and tusks, and spheal (spherical seal) is just as Scarf says, downright adorable! Plus, Sealeo stands out as being a great mid-stage evolution with them whiskers and spots.

I love my Eeveelutions, so Glaceon gets my vote. :D

Snorunt is a close second though. He was a beast in one of my Platinum playthroughs.

My favourite Ice type would be Froslass. It's unique typing really helped my decision, plus it's also quite powerful in battle as well and it's got a great design without suffering from the overdesigning that a few gen 4 and most gen 5 pokémon suffered from.

I remember the first Emerald run that I did as a kid, I had a Glalie that was the first Pokemon I've ever had to win all the competitions and stuff. She was also a very strong competitor against the Elite Four as well, so, I gotta give it to that group. I haven't played any of the more recent generations, so I couldn't tell you about the last evolution.

Cryogonal - it's one of my favorite Unova pokémon since it looks so cool and is very different without being too extreme.

Also Frosslass' line because Frosslass and Snorunt are adorable and the ice/ghost typing is pretty interesting. Glalie though, haha, I don't even know why that thing is a thing :D But it doesn't really drag it down.

Are you kidding me? Why is Weavile not on this list?

Come on! I hope you're adding these while you're going along, because you can't spell Ice without Weavile!

So I vote for Weavile, duh, and Vanilliuxe because even icecream can kick butt.

Weavile and Sneasel were included in the very first round of voting with Dark-type Pokemon, where they were beaten out by Umbreon.

And there are only 2 days left to vote, so make sure to get your choices in if you haven't already. Four Pokemon and their families are within three votes of first place, so every vote counts!
