What are the most beautiful lyrics you've ever heard? Can be any type of beauty.

The most beautiful lyrics I've heard come from the band Metric, off of the song Speed the Collapse.
    Link to the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jiQ1QpNSkA

And then the storm was overhead
All the oceans boiled and rivers bled
    We auctioned off our memories
In the absence of a breeze
    Scatter what remains
    Scatter what remains

I find it to be a hauntingly beautiful commentary.

    You know what? It's really hard for me to choose from just one Nirvana song. ;-;

    Nirvana - Verse Chorus Verse

    Neither side is sacred
    No one wants to win
    Feeling so sedated
    Think I'll just give in

    Taking medication
    Till my stomach's full
    Neither side is sacred
    Crawling in the hole

The grass is greener over here
You're the fog that keeps it clear
    Re-inventing what we knew
Taken time is all but true
You're the reason I feel pain
Feels so good to feel again

Kurt was a lyrical genius and all.

    AC/DC - Big Balls

    I've got big balls
    I've got big balls
    And they're such big balls
    fancy big balls
    And he's got big balls,
    And she's got big balls,
But we've got the biggest balls of them all!

    lol, it's really:

Pink Floyd - Two Suns In The Sunset

    And as the windshield melts
    My tears evaporate
    Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.
    Ashes and diamonds
    Foe and friend
We were all equal in the end.

Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Follow You Into the Dark

    If Heaven and Hell decide
    That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the "No"'s on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
    When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

I'd put the whole song if I could. The song's simply breathtaking, and it has a lot of history with me. The lyrics are both grim but beautiful, and it's perfect. Man, I miss high school.

I'd say I know a couple absolutely stunning lyrics from a few songs. The first would be Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas, and another would be Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns 'N' Roses

    Carry On My Wayward Son

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
    I was soaring ever higher
    But I flew too high

Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a madman
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
    And I hear them say

    (Chorus)

    Sweet Child O' Mine

She's got a smile that it seems to me
    Reminds me of childhood memories
    Where everything was as fresh
    As the bright blue sky

Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stare too long, I'd
    Probably break down and cry

    (Chorus)

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I'd hate to look into those eyes and
    See an ounce of pain

Her hair reminds me of a warm, safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder and the rain
    To quietly pass me by

Lana Del Rey - Dark Paradise

    There's no remedy for memory
your face is like a melody
    it won't leave my head
    your soul is haunting me
and telling me everything is fine
but I wish I was dead

Every time I close my eyes
    it's like a Dark Paradise
    no-one compares to you
    but there's no you
except in my dreams in tonight

It feels like a very mellow, depressing confession of a lover that won't love her anywhere but in her dreams where she can, obviously, manipulate him/her. I don't know, it's just a very sweet, endearing bunch of lines and I'm absolutely in love with it.

Dog goes woof, Cat goes meow
Birds go tweet, and mouse goes squeak
Cow goes moo, frog goes croak
    and the elephant goes toot

    Ducks say quack
    And fish go blub
And the seal goes ow ow ow

    But there's one sound
    That no on knows

    WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?!

Maps by the YYYs. The video is equally heartbreaking too, when you know the context.

    Made off
    Don't stray
    My kind's your kind
    I'll stay the same
    Pack up
    Don't stray
    Oh say say say
    Oh say say say

Wait... they don't love you like I love you
Wait... they don't love you like I love you
    Maps
Wait... they don't love you like I love you
Wait... they don't love you like I love you
    Maps
Wait... they don't love you like I love you.

    Their best song by far.

Ever since I heard this song I never really liked the lyrics tbh, just really the emotion and feeling. But there is one line that I noticed that I thought was quite beautiful. Whether the meaning is more towards surface level or not I guess it really doesn't matter.

Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks

    You're gone, gone, gone away
    I watched you disappear
All that's left is the ghost of you.
Now we're torn, torn, torn apart,
    There's nothing we can do
Just let me go we'll meet again soon
Now wait, wait, wait for me
    Please hang around

I'll see you when I fall asleep.

Touché Amoré's 'Just Exist'. I'd quote an excerpt, but the song itself is just incredible. The entire of it. And it reads more like an abstract poem than a song so I'll post the entire thing.

I was once asked how I'd like to remembered, and I simply smiled and said, "I'd rather stay forever."
It was possibly my loudest cliché, but felt better than just walking away.
I don't know what my legacy will be.
A song, some words I wrote, or a kid I'll never see.
All of these things scare me half to death.
I'll suffer the day just hoping for the best, but that's not say I don't think that all of this can change.
But that's not to say I won't wake up some day with a lion's pride that I'm going to be okay.

If again I'm asked how I'd like to be remembered, next time I'll be better prepared for the answer, but you'll never know much of the truth so I'll Just Exist.
    It's all I can do.

So much to consider, and too much to grasp.
To swallow mortality is enough of a task, and leaving your mark is just too much to ask.

I'll just bow my head, and leave out the back.

The entire song of Blowin' in the Wind by Bob Dylan is a very beautiful song and has amazing lyrics, even though it doesn't have the deep metaphors the previous songs have. I mostly listen to the cover by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, because I'm more of a rock type of person but the original is very inspiring.

Yes, how many times must a man look up
Before he can really see the sky?
Yes, how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

This is probably my most favorite part of the whole song, even if it doesn't exist in the MFATGG version.

The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build A Home (Ft. Patrick Watson)

    And, I built a home
    For you
    For me

    Until you disappeared
    From me
    From you

And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust...

    Seasons of Love- Rent

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, measure a year?

    In daylights, in sunsets
In midnights, in cups of coffee
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife
In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes
How do you measure, a year in the life?

    How about love?
    How about love?
    How about love?
    Measure in love

I really love this song. It's so upbeat and happy. It's beautiful in the sense how it says that a year is measured in good things rather than time. It also has the ability to take you back in time, to remember the good things that happened in the past, everything. One of the best songs out there, in my opinion.

    Musiq Soulchild - "Dontchange"

    [Verse 1]
    Lately you've been questioning
If I still see you the same way
    Cause through these trying years
    We gonna both physically change

Now don't you know you you'll always be
The most beautiful woman I know
So let me reassure you darlin that
    My feelings are truly unconditional

    [Chorus]
See I'll love you when your hair turns gray, girl
I'll still want you if you gain a little weight, yeah
The way I feel for you will always be the same
Just as long as your love don't change, No

I was meant for you and you were meant for me, yeah
And I'll make sure that I'll be everything you need, yeah
Girl the way we are is how its gonna be
Just as long as your love don't change

    [Verse 2]
Cause I'm not impressed, more or less
By them girls in the T.V and magazines
Cause honestly I believe that your beauty
Is way more than skin deep
Cause everything about you makes me feel
I have the greatest gift in the world
And even when you get on my last nerve
I couldn't see myself being with another girl

    [Chorus]

    [Bridge]
So don't waste your time worryin bout
Small things that ain't relevant to me
Cause to my understanding your all I want and need
See what I'm tryin to say is I'm here to stay
And as long as your love doesn't change, then

Baby darling I swear that I,
    I swear I ain't going nowhere no.
    [Chorus]

    Avicii - Hey Brother

    Hey brother
There's an endless road to rediscover
    Hey sister
Do you still believe in one another
Know the water's sweet but blood is thicker
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
    For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do

    Hey brother
Do you still believe in one another
    Hey sister
Do you still believe in love I wonder
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
    For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do

What if I'm far from home
Oh brother I will hear you call
What if I lose it all
Oh sister I will help you out
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
    For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do

    Hey brother
There's an endless road to rediscover
    Hey sister
Do you still believe in love I wonder
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
    For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do

What if I'm far from home
Oh brother I will hear you call
What if I lose it all
Oh sister I will help you out
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
    For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
