    Life is a journey, and for many of us it is not an easy one. The road of life is winding and bumpy, filled with trials and tribulations that we can either work through or let consume and eventually destroy us. Yet, those who have given in need not always be that way. Sometimes this road offers a chance at rebirth.

    Simmonds School of Rebirth is one of the ways in which some have this opportunity. A large facility in the American countryside, the Simmonds School is not your normal educational facility. It is a boarding school for troubled youths. Each and every student at the Simmonds School has some sort of baggage that the specialised programmes of the school are trying to remedy. These students are criminals and victims, addicts and abusers, the lonely and the lost – and you are one of them. You are a new student at Simmonds School of Rebirth. You are also a target.

    A mysterious supernatural being has decided that you and your fellow RPers are quite interesting, and to feed its amusement it will subject you to bizarre, terrifying and confronting supernatural phenomena. Can you survive in an environment such as the Simmonds School? Can you survive these phenomena when the only people you can confide in are strangers? Strangers who you know have some sort of murky past.

    This RP is based upon the Kokoro Connect anime series, however knowledge of the series won't be needed for Connections (I highly recommend the series though). Connections makes use of a combination of sandbox and chapter-based elements. It will be broken into several chapters, one for each phenomenon, which will in turn be broken down into several days. During each day you will have near complete freedom to have your characters interact with each other and experience phenomena as you please.​

    Xavier Cole

    Age:18

    Appearance: Muscular, Athletic and built from a lifestyle of consistently partaking in demanding physical activity. Xavier presents quite an intimidating stature, standing just over 6'0 tall. Facially, his features are rounded, with quite a large nose and mouth that stand to darken his already imposing appearance. His hair usually stays in a low buzz cut style, sometimes with the sides shaved lower into a skin fade.

    Clothing wise, while not bountiful, Xavier's wardrobe sports a range of options. Usually opting for either red or darker burgundy(Representing the Pirus gang his older brothers associate with), Xavier tends to favour an open shirt with a white shirt underneath. Blue jeans are his usual choice of leg wear and addidas sneakers for his feet.

    Personality: For too long, pride has been a massive dictator in Xavier's personality. He's long since been hiding the fun-loving boy that wanted to play basketball with his friends and play video games. He's now a serious, no-nonsense hustler who does what he has to do. He takes no shits from anybody, and anyone that does give him trouble, will bare witness to his ruthlessness. He is strong willed, and cannot be broken by anyone or anything...Or at least, that's who he has to be.

    Some of his traits that carry over naturally to his gangster lifestyle are his pride, and his knack for being very efficient. He wastes little of anything, especially time. Looking weak in any way is something he cant stand, and so he is always willing to do whatever it takes to defend his pride.

    Besides that, he is driven and tenacious, never wanting to give up even when something seems impossible to reach. He is an inquisitive learner, having a passion for literature and the English language, which he loves to apply to rapping and rap battling. All in all, Xavier is a caring and fun-loving guy, trying to find his place in the world, due to a background that has restricted him. He is usually quite conservative, but opens up to those who approach him without too much difficulty. Due to his background, he has grown to be quite prejudice making his perceptions on people based purely on first impressions(Often based on clothing, appearance and even ethnicity).

    History: Having two older brothers who associate with the Compton local Pirus gang, Xavier is no stranger to the inner city politics of gang violence and the hustle. Through the force of peer pressure, and struggling to make ground in his preferred field, Xavier made the decision to follow in his brother's footsteps. While many of his friends grew to be innocent souls lost in the system, Xavier embraced his background, finding that he excelled in crime. Whether it was selling drugs or handling police; intimidating opposing gang members or firing weapons, Xavier was a natural, which his brothers quickly caught onto. At the tender age of 15 Xavier was already a well known face amongst local Pirus members. When he turned 16, he finally found a way to bring his passion for literature into the lifestyle he now lead. Rap battles. He lit up the battling scene, tearing apart battler after battler and quickly rising to a known face in the local rap battling scene.

    It wasnt until his battle with Peppercorn, a man that associated with some of the Crips most dangerous members, that battling once again dragged him back to his Compton days of having to sleep with one eye open. The build up and promotion for the battle reinvigorated the hostility between the two gangs, gunfight after gunfight revolving around the battle. It was only made worse by the suspense created by the battle being cancelled on multiple occasions by local police. With the amount of arrests that surrounded the event, police were forced to clamp down on battling in general.

    The resulting riots forced Xavier's family to evacuate Compton temporarily. His new suburban environment was where he met his new freinds, and it was(Ironically) there, that he ended up discovering that he'd be sent to Simmonds School of Rebirth.

    Emily Wescott

    Age: 17
    Gender: Female

    Appearance: Emily is a slender girl standing of a fairly average height of 5'5". She has angular features and a body that is lithe and tones from a tendency towards cardio exercise and her once pale skin has been tanned a caramel colour from the sun. Her long hair, usually brown in colour is died a vibrant orange colour however some of her original brunette hair is becoming visible through the colour once more.

    As far as attire goes, Emily is not a prim-and-proper sundress kind of girl. Her preferred outfits generally consist of leggings in earthy browns and blacks and simple tops. Despite this she has been known to accessorise her appearance with bracelets or a necklace (or both because why not?) but she has no piercings to be seen.

    Personality: Emily spends a lot of her time sitting behind a bored expression, her defence mechanism. If you don't look like you want to get involved, you won't have to. This default bored look belies a fiery personality and attentive mind however.

    You might not guess looking at her, but Emily actually has a highly analytical mind. When she's sitting there looking disinterested she is really taking in everything going on around her and she is able to break down complex concepts in her head easily allowing her to learn quickly, although she's not exactly the most booksmart person ever. Perhaps where her brain is best applied is in music classes, Emily is a lover of many kinds of music and can play several instruments.

    Whilst she is a quick learner and has an analytical mind, Emily is not always the most rational. Emily can be equally parts skittish and fiery, and you never know if she's going to run away from a fight or erupt like a volcano. During moments of either her ability to rationalise is all but gone and she can become very hard to deal with. Considering this, it's probably not surprising that she struggles to form relationships with people beyond casual, hollow friendships.


    History: The earlier years of Emily's life were easy, she had many friends and got along very well with her parents. When her twin younger siblings were born, she got along just fine with them too. She never wanted for money, she was healthy and she had plenty of hobbies she enjoyed – in particular those related to music. So you might wonder how she ended up in a school for troubled youths.

    It started two years prior to her enrolment. Life was going well for Emily. She was doing fairly well at school, her musical studies were going well, she never argued with her younger siblings or parents, had plenty of friends and her family were good, church-going people well liked by the community. Things couldn't have been going better for Emily – until she brought her girlfriend home. Due to her fairly close relationship with her parents, she thought that things would be fine. She quickly learned that they would not. As it turns out, the Westcott parents' conservative tendencies were a lot more prominent than she had originally thought. The obvious solution was to deal with her parents with logic and reasoning. Emily did not take this route. Instead, she chose to rebel in the most extreme ways she could.

    At first it was simply staying out ridiculously late, neglecting schoolwork, dyed hair and the like. However, the response was a rapid end to her beloved music lessons. From there things spiralled out of control and soon enough Emily was running with a bad crowd of fellow rebels who "understood" her. She started drinking heavily, she rarely showed up for school and eventually she was introduced to drugs and quickly got addicted. She was a different person, addicted to drugs and flunking in school she lost the relationship that had been the start of it all, her family life was ruined and all her previous friendships hand ended – because of the drugs and booze, although she'd claim otherwise.

    With no job, Emily had to resort to unsavoury means to get the money to feed her addictions – thievery to say the least. This was precisely how she ended up in juvenile detention for prostitution. Fast forward several months and she has now been released on parole and is attending the Simmonds School as a part of her parole deal.​

     
    I'm considering on making an SU, still debating if to do a female or a male character.
     
    I've decided on making a male character, slightly based on Axel from Kingdom Hearts.
    Mostly I've been using him as a template and will mold and break him to fit what I see and feel about him.

    Troubled Youth from the Heartland

    "Troubled? People only say that because I can cause them trouble."​
    Name: Dustin Hallfield
    Gender: Male
    Age: 17
    Theme: Madeon - The City


    Appearance: A lean and fit youth, Dustin stands at a height of 6'1". His brown hair is topped with blonde and is often worn up in a messy manner. It easily matches his hazel eyes.

    In the clothing department, Dustin's style can be described as punk or skater. He mainly wears clothing like skinny jeans and t-shirts, and will often pair this some sort of jacket. Preferring sneakers over most kinds of shoes, you'll most likely find him wearing Vans or Converse. In the Summer, he is not one to shy away from shorts. Likewise, beanies are important to him during the Winter months. His ears have small plugs in them and he does have snake bite piercings below his lips.

    Personality: Arrogant, rebellious, stubborn, and rash are just some words used to describe the person that is Dustin. Known to be quite rude, Dustin often considers himself above people he doesn't know very well. Even then, there's no guarantee that that thought would change upon becoming friends with him. It's simply his way of thinking. In his mind, he can get anything he wants. Whether this be due to his charisma, his skill, or simply just because he threatens or guilts someone. As such, he is a decent liar and will easily use it to manipulate those around him if he feels the need for it. On top of that, he is sarcastic and facetious, typically resorting to a humorous way of looking at the difficulties of life.

    He honestly does a lot of stupid stuff, but he is mostly morally correct when it comes to most facets of everyday life. Sure, he's going to act like a total ass, but he's not going to beat someone up unless he has a reason. There's a difference between small vandalism and big time offenses such as stealing or assault.

    Of course, when push comes to shove, Dustin will likely be the first to stand and fight. He is very protective of those he considers his friends and partners and will do anything if it means keeping them safe. To his friends, he is seen as laid back and carefree. There are times where he comes off as a jerk to his friends, but this mostly happens when serious arguments are occurring. Nonetheless, if a friend ever has a problem with what he's doing, he will try to amend his actions. He may think he's above others, but his friends are equals. Losing one of them over something he did would be like losing a part of himself.

    History: For the most part, Dustin never had too many problems growing up. He was born into a fairly well off family and thus money was never too much of an issue for him, his sisters, or his parents. He was healthy and grew into a good-looking teenagers. As such, the only problem the family really had was how troublesome Dustin could be.

    To be entirely honest, Dustin was never inherently a bad kid, but he was spoiled and he knew it. From a young age, he had a habit of flaunting his family's money around. If he got a new electronic or toy, he would show it off. If he was given a hefty allowance, he would bring his friends out to eat on occasion. Money was a form of power for him and he used it. Sure, he was fairly smart and for the most part, he had good morals. However, he never tried too hard unless he got something out of it. It was just something he learned growing up. Giving your all was important, but sometimes you didn't get anything for it, aside from the occasional pat on the back.

    Things changed as the boy became an adolescent. His parents, who until that point had spoiled him, stopped treating him like a child and tried to put some discipline into him. He honestly hadn't cared too much at the point. He didn't want to disappoint his parents, but he fit in and he had friends. Why ruin that? Of course, it wasn't long before he heard things similar to "Why aren't you as good as your sisters?" or "What do you expect to do with your life?"

    It didn't take long for his group of friends to change into a group of troublemakers and rebels. He and his little group spent many nights bying illegal alcohol, spray painting old train cars, breaking windows of abandoned cars. A lot of it was vandalism, but Dustin never considered it to be too bad of a crime. He wasn't actually hurting anyone. It didn't take too long for that to change, however.

    A friend of his had actually been hosting a party, and as always, there was bound to be liquor there. It started out fine. No problems with anyone, a cute girl was talking to him, and he was only slightly tipsy. Most people wouldn't complain. That was until he had noticed his younger sister being there. She was only a year younger than him, but he had done his role as a big brother and tried to never be too bad of a person in front of her. He had felt bad about it, but that wasn't what made him angry. She looked uncomfortable and it was because of the guy that seemed to loom over her. He was hitting on her, of course, and he was definitely aggressive about it. Dustin knew the guy's breath must have been reeking with alcohol, but he himself wasn't entirely in his right mind either. Dustin's first reaction was to throw a punch, and it didn't take long before the guy was unconscious on the ground. Blood was everywhere, and Dustin was at fault.

    Unfortunately, the guy hadn't actually done anything to his sister. He was aggressive about hitting on her, but he himself had done no damage to her. Dustin's reaction put him in the limelight of the news. He was eventually charged with assault and battery and an MIP. His only option aside from prison was the Simmond's School of Rebirth.

    Axel - The Agonizing Beast​

    Appearance:
    Axel is a slender guy, of a height of about 1.75 meters. He has a fair skin with rosy hues, a widow's peak, rather small eyebrows and thick, shoulder-length, bright red hair styled into slicked-back spikes. His eyes are a bright emerald color and he has a purple reverse-teardrop shaped tattoo under each eye. Although his slender build, he is quite fit.
    Axel wardrobe consists mostly of black and dark red clothes. Usually he will wear a long sleeve shirt, and long jeans pants, all exaggerating his slender appearance. At times he will wear his long black coat closing its zipper until his upper legs.​
    Personality:
    Most of the time, you'll find Axel smiling or laughing, but most often it will be the most horrifying thing in the room. Through his small grin and eyes, you will quickly see he is suffering inside.
    His psychotic mind is crushing him from the inside, knowing that most of the actions he takes are morally wrong and cruel, a part of him still drives him to do and enjoy them.
    Axel current state might be a result of his traumatic past, being part of a crime organization, and losing his best friend has led him to believe that he is the one in fault of his death. The memories of his agonizing lost led him to detach any connections he had with society, and to refrain from making any new connections.
    In fights, Axel becomes a demonic shadow of himself; using every dirty tactic he has in his disposal. Even after he made his opponent to give in and surrender, he will not stop until they're either begging for their lives while on the verge of death, or dead.
    If you look closely when he fights, you might be able to see the glimpses of pain and sorrow that reflect on his eyes. Every time a punch or a kick lands, a tremble in his limbs will follow soon after; short as it may, it's there.
    An agonizing beast, left stranded, with a mask of a smile, and the face of a hollow.​
    History:
    After a guy left a girl when she was pregnant and as a result of the poor conditions she had, the girl died when giving birth, and an orphan, came to live. The night after, a tall black man with long white hair told the nurse who took care of him that he is the child godfather. The man took him that night, and named him Axel Middlton.
    Axel grew up, together with three other orphans, in a gigantic house. They got everything they needed, and wanted. Educated in the best methods by the best tutors. All to become, the best crime organization there would be, except they only found out about it after Axel, the youngest, turned thirteen.
    The man he called father, was the head of the organization, and his adopted children were second in command. The four of them had about two dozens of criminals under their disposal, from low life thieves, to murderers and terrorists. Each month, their father had assigned them a task, and a group of subjects. They would have to carry out the task; otherwise, as he always said, "It will be game over".
    As the years went by, Axel had been stealing, beating and doing everything his father asked him to do. The one thing his yet to be asked though, was to murder. When Axel turned 17, his father tasked him and his brother Roxas, which was half a year older, to assassinate the leaders of a small gang in the city they lived in.
    The two of them, together with a small group of criminals they worked with for a long time, planned on how to perform the task. The plan was that they will distract the gang members by getting them into a shooting fight, and at the same time, Axel and Roxas will sneak through the building through the backside, and will assassinate the leaders from behind.
    But when Axel and Roxas entered the building, the gang was not distracted, but on the contrary, facing them with semi-automatic rifles. The gang started firing. Axel and Roxas took cover, but Roxas was wounded. Axel was able to clean up the room, using the training he gathered throughout the years. To Axel's surprise, their group of criminals was with the gang, and Roxas, was dead…
    When he asked his father about the group he assigned him, he told him that he meant for it to happen, and when he told him that Roxas died, his father shrugged and said nothing. Later that day, Axel ran away, trying to stay away from his rotten family and father and lived in hiding.
    After a year, Axel decides to face his sins. He climbs on three story building and jumps of the roof. He wakes up in a hospital, his body is broken, but is soul is shattered to pieces. One of the doctors approach him and tells him that he just got back from a coma, but needs to decide; he can go to either a psychiatric hospital, or to the Simmonds School.
    Axel chose the latter, and after fully recovering he enrolled to the school.​

    Douglas Stamper

    18 // Male // Macon, GA​

    Appearance: Towering over most of his peers, Doug stands at exactly six-foot-seven. He weighs quite a bit, but rather then due to being unhealthy this is a result of the enormous amount of muscle mass he has built up over the years as an athlete. The young man likes to think of himself as rather attractive, with his boyishly handsome face, curly chestnut-brown hair, and scraggly beard. And hey, most people would probably agree with his sentiments. When those deep brown eyes stare into yours it's hard not to think so. Putting all his features together, he basically looks like the typical popular jock that you used to see in high school.

    As far as style goes, Douglas is rather plain. His closet is basically lined up with various numbers of long sleeve henleys, flannel shirts, and sports related t-shirts. When going out, his favorite outfit to wear is a gray henley, with a red and black checkered flannel on top, paired with some faded blue jeans and some boots to finish off the outfit. The outfit gives a nice "southern-boy" feel while not making it give off the impression he's trying too hard.

    Personality: While not the brightest bulb in the shed, Doug more than makes up for that in the charisma parameter. It's been said that there never has and never will be someone he couldn't befriend. It's strange because you'd think the star athlete would just stay within his bubble of popular friends as that's what many did. However, he went out of his way to be kind to everyone he met, even those that were considered to be at the bottom rung on the social latter. Doug really enjoyed the "older-brother" persona that he developed and used that to reach out to everyone he could. And despite attending a rather conservative school, most of his fellow students didn't mind his sexuality, probably due to the fact he was overall a pretty nice guy.

    He was always known as the real laid back guy that you could always go to for help. Even on the sports fields there was always an aloofness to him, he was out there enjoying what he was doing and you could tell if he didn't, he wouldn't be out there in the first place. That's what made it all the more surprising to the citizens of Macon when he was taken away in handcuffs for beating his own father nearly to death. Since he snapped he's been relatively the same. Although his temper has gotten quite a bit shorter, for the most part he's the same kind, relaxed guy he always was.

    Sorry, I've been kicking some ideas around and writing some draft SUs, but I was holding off on making a decision until more SUs were submitted. Though if we don't get any more I can probably just choose.

    My bad.
    I've been away for a week and haven't really had any time to do PC things. I spent most of Monday looking for a decent faceclaim for what I had and mind, and didnt really have much success, which massively demotivated me. All in all though, my week away has stretched me pretty him since I ave to do a lo of catch up in the RPs I'm in now. If SUs are still open, I'm still considering joining once I'm in a better place RPwise

    Ryan Summers

    "We're going down, down, in an earlier round"

    Age: 18

    Gender: Female


    Appearance: Ryan is the perfect mix between her Greek mother and Hispanic father. Her skin is tanned like her father's, but a few shades lighter. Her facial features, mostly her eye shape and high cheekbones, come from her mother; her jawline and nose come from her father. Ryan chooses to wear bold makeup, and is almost never seen without dark lips and bold eyes. Unlike the rest of her family, who have brown or green eyes, Ryan has blue eyes. She stands at five and a half feet, and hates the fact that her younger brother is taller than her.

    Ryan doesn't have many clothes, since most of her money goes towards taking care of her younger siblings, but most of her wardrobe consists of band T-shirts or gaming shirts. Most days she wears a band shirt underneath an oversized hoodie, a pair of jean shorts paired with her favorite holey leggings and black Converse. Her arms are covered in bracelets that she's collected over the years, and she has her sister's name and birthday tattooed on her left wrist.

    "And Sugar, we're goin' down swinging"

    Personality: Ryan is, in two words, blunt and unforgiving. She doesn't believe in sugar-coating things (except when it comes to her siblings), and isn't afraid to speak what's on her mind. She only cares about two things: money and her family. As far as she's concerned, nothing else matters. She prefers to act first and think later, which gets her into trouble most of the time. She's very stubborn, and hates being bossed around. She finds it hard to trust people, and doesn't care about making friends.

    Ryan is a completely different person around people she trusts, like her family. She's still slightly rude, but at least tries to be nicer. She's overly protective and won't hesitate to pick a fight with anyone who tries to mess with her family. She has a bad habit of making bets, and will bet anyone on just about anything for money, no matter how stupid the bet is.

    "I'll be the number one with a bullet"

    History: Ryan was the result of an unplanned pregnancy between 16 year-old Dahlia Summers and 26 year-old Don Lothario. She moved around a lot as a result of her father's inability to keep a job. Her family had little money, due to the fact that any money her father made went towards alcohol and drugs. Dahlia and Don argued 24/7, and Ryan was a witness to most of them. As time went on, Don eventually grew violent towards Dahlia. When she was five, Ryan was sent to live with her Uncle Trent until Dahlia and Don "worked things out".

    Ryan was confused as to why she was sent away to live with an uncle that she had never met and came to the conclusion that it was because she was a bad daughter. After all, it was no secret that she was the reason her parents argued. Don always said that she was the reason they had to move around a lot. As a child, Ryan acted out a lot, hoping that she would be sent back to live with her parents. Her uncle never disciplined her, hoping that she would learn from her cousins and behave.

    Ryan eventually moved back in with her mother when she was eight years old, only to find out that she had a three year-old brother, and that her family was poorer than before. Dahlia had changed in the three years since Ryan had seen her. She was a broken woman now, and hardly ever fought back when Don abused her. She never spoke, even when Trevor needed something, and it would be a miracle if she left the house. Ryan learned that the best thing for her to do was to avoid her father at all costs and made it her own personal responsibility to protect her brother. As a result, Ryan never really had much of a childhood.

    Ryan's life was pretty uneventful, aside from the birth of her younger sister when she was fourteen. The girl was born with a number of health issues as a result of Dahlia's neglect of herself during the pregnancy, and the family was unable to afford the hospital bills, and things only got worse when Lucy was diagnosed with leukemia on her first birthday.

    Ryan grew desperate for money and, after some consideration, sold all of her mother's old jewelry to a pawn shop. She earned enough money to pay for the beginning of Lucy's treatments, but she knew that it wouldn't be enough. Lucy was a tiny girl, and it would most likely take a lot of medication to help her. Ryan started babysitting as an excuse to enter people's houses and steal their valuables. She taught herself the ways of being a pickpocket and almost always managed to escape suspicion.

    Things changed on her seventeenth birthday when her father brought her to a casino and taught her how to gamble. It was, Ryan admitted, the only helpful thing her father had done in her entire life. Within a few months, she became a master at gambling. The money she earned from gambling, paired with the money she got from selling her father's drugs and stealing, was enough to keep her sister alive.

    Shortly after she learned how to gamble, disaster struck Ryan's life. Her father died in a car accident, and her mother committed suicide shortly after. She couldn't afford to move in with her uncle again. It was too far away and she wasn't sure that Lucy could handle the move, so she had no choice but to stay where she was. She was suddenly the sole guardian of her two younger siblings. She always had been, in a way. Dahlia was unfit as a mother, and Don had never really cared.

    Shortly after her parents' deaths, Ryan met her first and only boyfriend. He was one of the few people she had met that actually cared about her. Together they formed a drug empire. With the money they earned, Ryan was able to afford Lucy's treatments and move to a better neighborhood. It seemed like everything was finally going her way until she came home to find her boyfriend in bed with another girl. She kicked him out of the house and spent a week in bed heartbroken.

    After her week of moping around, Ryan decided to get her revenge and, after getting some help from one of her father's friends, managed to steal her boyfriend's car and wreck it into a nearby tree. A few days later, Ryan found her house being searched by the police, who had gotten an anonymous tip that she was selling drugs. She was taken into custody and given the choice of spending a few years in prison or the Simmonds school. Seeing no other choice, she chose the school.
