So I've taken a look at the game files, here's some spoilers concerning the pokedex:

1. No National Dex. There's only dex entries for the 403 pokemon and their forms

2. Here's the full dex in National Dex order. One's with * weren't in S/M so use Ctrl+F for convenience:

Looks like the dex images are different.

Of note: All fossils are in the dex and Zygarde is still in it. Also no Lunatone nor Solrock.
I don't think any pokemon were taken out of the SM dex and it was only expanded.

There's data for Eternal Floette's Pokedex entry, maybe? Not sure if it had one last gen, but saw this in the game text:
"Terrifying energy is concealed within its ominous flower, but Floette still swings it about innocently."

It's possible. A more likely explanation is the fact that the Flabebe family is in the game and they wanted to add dex entries for all possible forms of pokemon in the regional dex.

Probably more true since they probably just CP'd the info right on over (instead of purposefully writing Eternal Floette's) but you gotta generate that hype tho

I don't see any new Alolan pokemon which is extremely disappointing. Unless I missed something. I got to say the new UBs looks awesome.

Oh right. Well it looks like it's listed right next to the names for specific Pokemon rather than people's names, so I would say no. I would assume it's referring to the OT of the Ash-Greninja.
