My theory about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players

I have a fun little theory about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players. Players that chose to play Scarlet are more nostalgic and prefer the older games more so than the newer games. This is true based on the game's overall theme revolving around the past. Players that chose Violet prefer the newer games more so than the older games, as Violet's theme involves the future. Those that chose both Scarlet and Violet don't mind older or newer Pokémon games. Tell me what game(s) you selected and tell me if I was right or wrong.

I don't think you are completely wrong. There is probably some people who follow this. But for me...

I chose Violet because it looks better in game. Even though I like Koridon. I like both about the same.
My favorite games are Johto, Hoenn, Unova, and Kalos.

And while I don't get nostalgic very easily from older games and prefer advancement, I hate everything about futuristic things in pokemon. I didn't like Black City or the Future City in Pokemon Black and much preferred White Forest and the Ancient City. I don't like many of the future pokemon, but like most of the Past pokemon. But I also like Violet more because Taro made more sense than Sada story wise.

I started with Violet, then got Scarlet, as I generally do with all the mainline Pokemon games. I honestly got Violet first just because I thought the box Legend was less ugly. I almost didn't get either of them as I wasn't all that interested in them from the first couple of trailers that I saw, but my friend wanted to play co-op with me and ended up convincing me to pick one up. I'm honestly really glad he did, cause if I hadn't got Violet, I never would've had a reason to find this site.
I'd say the experience I've had here was worth way more than the sixty bucks I spent on that game. (that I honestly liked a lot more than I thought I would)

I went with Violet simply because I liked Miraidon more than Koraidon.
I do prefer the newer games, but that's because of a lot of QoL features I just don't want to do without anymore. If the older games would get them retconned in I wouldn't mind playing them at all.
I intend to get Scarlet as well at some point, but that won't be until it goes on sale as I'm not paying full price on both of these games and their DLC's =P

I've mostly played the primary version first - initially just out of luck that my mum bought me Diamond (blue > pink as I'm male, most likely), then because I liked Reshiram (then B2 as its a direct sequel) and Zacian. Although I bought both, I played Violet first because I liked the look of the legendary more (its a dragon that turns into a Light Cycle and a Jet!), I liked the colour purple more than orange (Pokémon Orange just doesn't sound good, and Miraidon would look bad in it, so I get why they went for Scarlet), and although I tried to avoid most of the news given it was going to take something seismic for me to not buy a main series Pokémon game (if they ever go VR I'm done), Iron Valiant looks amazing.

But I probably count as a more nostalgic player - I hate Exp All and affection bonuses as they make the game far too easy for me, don't really play online much other than to battle (if they stop making the 7-star raids have the Mightiest Mark, or if they repeat themselves, I'll stop raiding), and am strongly against using Mints rather than resetting for a nature (Bottle Caps I begrudgingly accept for competitive battling as everyone else will be using them). So in that way I'm probably more of a nostalgia-focussed person. But I chose Violet and would choose it again.

I normally choose based on version exclusives. For S/V all version exclusives were Paradoxes (well, except Ceruledge/Armarouge), and Pokémon from previous gens that I had on previous teams or had no particular interest in playing with.

So my choice was pretty irrelevant because I knew I wasn't actually going to use Paradoxes anyway. But, I simply chose Scarlet because the idea of meeting ancient forms of well known Pokémon was more exciting to me than cyborg Pokémon from a distant future. I mean, are Violet Paradoxes even Pokémon or are they man-made mechas created in a dystopian future where actual Pokémon no longer exist?

I'm not much nostalgic when it comes to Pokémon. Sure I miss a few things from the past, but I totally stopped playing Gen 1-3 games a very long ago (except for rom hacks, of course), and I'd even struggle to get back into Gen 4-5 at this point. There are plenty of modern QoL, features, updated move sets, abilities, etc. that I would miss, so I still prefer the newer games all-around.

Interesting theory… which might be wrong since it's completely wrong for me.

Scarlet is my main version even though I have both. And even though I like all the generations, I like generations 4 and onwards more than the first 3. All this while I have never thought Pokemon went downhill. Not even with SV and it's glitches.

My version of choice has nothing to do with the Pokemon games or generations I prefer. I chose that version simply because I felt it was a better for the narrative of my comic, and eventually, because I liked the past parodoxes more than the future ones (seriously I feel like if I went for the other version I would have struggled fighting the future paradoxes because I would have had a hard time figuring out their typings)
